A Festivus For The Rest Of Us

The metalhead in me wants to say Lari has the best festival here, but the prospect of seeing DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Black Star and the Arctic Monkeys at one festival is too good to resist. Sorry Lari, but I'm going to Psicosisfest.

Psicosisfest, Liamfest, and larifest are the only ones where I wouldn't skip literally 75% of the acts. True story.

I was struggling for smaller acts... I was really just building this off of Usher/Timberlake/Clarkson/Underwood's Hotness....

After that I lost it... I was trying to think of a smaller country act to compliment Underwood so put Brad Paisley there.

However, Timberlake + Usher = Greatness. Usher should be the headliner though as his live show is amazing.

In 2007, while still playing a few shows in Australia and posting daily Myspace bulletins asking fans to request "Broken Hearted" on the radio, band coverage, press and blog updates started decreasing considerably, leading to believe the band had been dropped by Epic Records, though no official word on that has been released. This also led to break up rumors, which were soon confirmed.

On April 9, 2007 bassist Mick Morris confirmed the band's breakup on Myspace.

"After several years of touring and quite a few album releases we have decided that it is time to go our separate ways. We have been a band for a very long time and feel good about everything we were able to accomplish. At this point in our lives and our careers we feel its time to move on to something fresh and new. Whether it be music, touring or just being at home to live and enjoy life. We would like to thank all of our fans, friends and families for all of the great support over the years. We would also like to thank all of the bands we have shared the stage with and everyone who has ever worked with the band, opened a door or reached out a hand. We will be playing our final two shows in April. One in San Diego and one in Orange County. Come rock with us one more time."[1][2]

The break-up may come as a surprise, as the band has a strong fan club, "The Fools", and have received decent amounts of airplay from their latest record.

Keith Barney and Trevor Friedrich have since formed a new group with ex-Lylah frontman Norman Matthew named Never Enough [3].

Ah, cheers. They were always one of those band that I thought had a few decent songs (I Don't Mind, Tower of Snakes and Victim) but never got majorly into.

Camera Obscura | The Concretes | Tullycraft | Vic Chestnutt | Scoutt Niblett | Television Personalities

There are bands like Earth and A Silver Mt. Zion that I'd love to see at a festival, but declined to because there's no way they'd fit in with that line-up, I might try and put together a heavier one later.

My first one was much more a broader taste thing that'd I'd like to see at Leeds/Reading, but if it's the heaviest of the heavy that I want, things would look a lot different...

Ephel Duath | Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

Rammstein | The Deftones

Mastodon | Apocalyptica | Dillinger Escape Plan

A somewhat heavier festival:

Slayer | Kreator | Testament

What would be a kickass show:

Iced Earth | Rhapsody | Elvenking | Firewind | Kamelot

Awesome festival:
