Help me get into Football/Soccer

Well I'm American but I spent a bit of time in Europe this year. Maybe 4 months in total. I really enjoyed watching football and it just seems interesting. I understand how to play and I did so as a kid what I want to know about is the leagues the big players. I dont know what im asking for really, just some more understanding. I only know a few players and a few teams, I dont know what makes a league or about the cups. Please just some help.

You're probably best off searching for the leagues you're interested in on Wikipedia and going from page to page to learn about the teams and competitions.

The Premiership (England) or La Liga (Spain) are probably the two best leagues in the world, support Arsenal, they were brilliant a few seasons ago, shit now though.

They just lost Henry right arsenal? I liked him but I don't like Ronaldinho much, I don't know why so that takes Barcelona out of the mix. Who's the star on Arsenal now, or do they not have one?

They seem like an option to support, most do. Just not Manchester United. I know that much.
