Since Mourinho polarises just about every football fan in what they think of him, I thought I'd throw this up. Note: this isn't really about him as a manager, more as a football personality, I guess.

Love to hate him and hate to love him are up there because there is a slight difference, so thought I might as well put both up.

As a pure football personality, I think it is hard to beat him. He winds people up, which I always find funny, and he can be a right laugh. I saw him on 'Fan Banter' (or something like that), and they asked him who is the hardest manager in the Premiership...to which he replied 'Big Sam......he'd probably kill me', which cracked me up.

So yeah, I love him.

Love him, he's fun and interesting and says whatever he wants. So often we have this shielded sort of approach from managers trying to maintain the peace with other teams and managers. Whereas Jose just says what he feels, and often, he can be right.

He was right, the linesman who cost him 2 points against Blackburn should apologise to him. :D

I'm indifferent. He can be very funny (ie the bird flu stuff) and he can be a complete classless piece of shit (ie the whole Porto/Miki Feher deal, that was probably one of the scummiest things said in football in recent years). Beyond that I'm not generally a fan of managers making nonsensical excuses for his players, especially when they border on the lie. In short, I guess I like his persona, less so his attitude.

IIRC, when Feher died, Benfica played Porto about a week or two after and scored a goal when a Porto player lay "injured" (much like Spurs/Arsenal two seasons ago if you will). Mourinho then said "I wish they'd go out there and die on the field" or something along those lines. It caused a huge outrage back then and there was even vague talk of tossing Porto out of Europe. I'm not entirely quite sure what was made of this eventually but I think wishing death on players should be strictly reserved for fans >_>
