Great bands with awful lyrics.

So the lyricist thread plus listening to a group I love to death got me thinking about bands that are fantastic musically but for whatever reason, their lyrics are god-awful.

I'll go with Secret Machines because they win the contest for making bland, redundant, and altogether bad lyrics:

As much as I generally like their music, Static-X has to be mentioned. The rhythm and style fits their music...but yeah, Wayne Static dwells more in giving off a mood than actually explaining something.

John Mayer is pretty much my #1 guilty pleasure artist. The reason why he is a guilty pleasure artist is because his music is very pretty and nice to listen to but his lyrics are fucking retarded like 75% of the time.

Agree with Static-X. I love the vibe, and the music, but some of their lyrics are like... 'wtf'.

Disagree on Avenged, though. They have good lyrics. Not great, but good.

But then again, that's the "so-bad-it's-good" factor.

Actually, come to really think, Cochise lyrics are pretty shitty. Great song though.

When you think about it in terms of Cornell's raging alcoholism and messy divorce from Susan Silver, the song makes much more sense. Agreed that it's not his best work, however. I'd go with "Yesterday Or Tomorrow" or "I Am The Highway".
