Yes, I'm waiting to see if I get Benni McCarthy. But you're right, I'll put a provisional team out just now and can edit it later if I get him.

Most surreal moment of this game so far - getting into a bidding war over Bobby Zamora of all people, who ended up going for £41m. I'm still quite happy with my team though, although I'm severely lacking in the goalkeeper stakes and attacking midfield is a bit weak too.

Considering he was pretty much the only regular starting striker left at the time I was happy enough with £41m for Zamora :)

Sylvinho for £34m was my favourite considering he's City's THIRD choice left back.

Luke Young is a good right back but £55m good? He's not even certain to start.

And most odd of all, Albert Riera went for £70m!

Still doesn't beat the fact that in round 1 Bryn paid £100m when he could have got Torres for £1m though :)

These are the scores after today's games, obviously the two fixtures tomorrow could change everything.

Frank Grimes [24] 1 - 2 Jagger [26]

Hackerjack [16] 0 - 2 Pesci [27]

Captain Kirk [35] 4 - 0 Baddar [17]

Dynamite [17] 0 - 1 Funkmaster [24]

King Ellis [22] 1 - 0 Bryn Davies [12]

HailtotheKing [28] 2 - 0 Jimmy the Exploder [10]

metalman [-] 0 - 3 Scott McFly [-]*

* metalman suffers a 0-3 loss by forfeit, as he did not submit his team on time.

Captain Kirk off to a good start thanks to Benayoun's hat-trick and assist. He scored more points on his own than Baddar's whole team (and hackerjack's, and Dynamite's, and Bryn's, and mine >_< )

C'mon Baddar, it's all in the guidelines! >_>

2.1 Point Scoring System

Points are rewarded for each individual player in your starting lineup and any subs used.

Points are added to your team's score for each of the following criteria:

+1 point for each player who plays up to 59 minutes

+2 points for each player who plays 60 minutes or more

+5 points for every goal scored

+3 points for every assist

Points are deducted from your opponent's score for each of the following criteria:

+5 points for a GK who saves a penalty

+5 points for a GK who keeps a clean sheet

+4 points for each CB who keeps a clean sheet

+3 points for each FB who keeps a clean sheet

+2 points for each CM who keeps a clean sheet

Clean sheet points are only attributed to players who play for 60 minutes or more. A player who is sent off will lose his clean sheet bonus if his team subsequently concede.

Points added to your opponent's score for each of the following criteria:

+5 points for each own goal scored

+5 points for conceding a penalty

+3 points for each red card

+1 point for conceding more than three goals, and +1 point for each subsequent goal conceded

The total points earned is converted into a number of goals:

20 total points= 1 goal

25 total points= 2 goals

30 total points= 3 goals

35 total points= 4 goals

40 total points= 5 goals

45 total points= 6 goals

50 total points= 7 goals

etc.

12th Man Bonus

If the home team is winning by four or points but the game is tied on goals (e.g. 34-30, 24-20) then the home team gains one extra point and the subsequent goal it results in, to represent the advantage of playing at home.

+5 points for conceding a penalty

Actually, I forgot about that... :P

The penalty Ben Haim gave away means Dynamite concedes another goal:

Dynamite [17] 0 - 2 Funkmaster [29]

Oh fuck ignore the team I submitted. I forgot today was Saturday. Big long shifts will do that to you. :/

If it's any consolation, you would have lost anyway. ^_^

How do you come to decide the match score?

I have a magical spreadsheet. If anyone wants it, I'll sent it to them.
