Anberlin also does some good acoustic stuff and you can also check out the punk goes acoustic compilations.

For straight up acoustic music you cannot go past City and Colour (Dallas Green from Alexisonfire) his two albums are both excellent

I hate when someone says "It depends on what you like"...the whole point of posting threads like this is to attempt to get into something you might not otherwise know. As for the selections, I shall test them out. I'm trying to fill a 30 gig Ipod with music and I've discovered that my horizons aren't very broad when it comes to music.

Matthew Good had an awesome second CD addition to his greatest hits release of In A Coma, a portion of that disk was called "Rooms" and was simply him playing some acoustic versions of his songs in one standing session, and it worked out pretty awesome. Songs included were;

"Truffle Pigs"

"Tripoli"

"Generation X-Wing"

"Apparitions"

"North American for Life"

"Advertising on Police Cars"

"Hello Time Bomb"

"Strange Days"

"Prime Time Deliverance"

Aside from that he also has offerings like;

"A Silent Army In The Trees" (early demos were clean, the latest demo includes electric guitar parts but it's pretty chill)

"Dancing Invisible"

"Downloading Blues"

"Hurt" (NIN cover)

"Near Fantastica" has an acoustic version

"If I Were A Tidal Wave"

"Whispering In The Dark"

"Fated"

"Flight Recorder From Viking 7"

"Running For Home"

"The Fine Art Of Falling Apart"

Michale Graves' acoustic stuff is really kickass.

His Illusions album, which he co-wrote with Damien Echols of the West Memphis 3 is a folk/punk type of record. Just awesome stuff. He also has a shitload of live acoustic stuff, which is because he's done most of his touring acoustically the last couple of years. It's easier than trying to find a group of guys who share the same ideas.

Blind Guardian - Lord Of The Rings (this is orchestral rather than acoustic. There is an acoustic version, just apparently not on Youtube :/ But this is still kind of acoustic, it uses acoustic guitars. ¬_¬ The intro to the 'real' acoustic version is awesome though).

Blind Guardian - Bright Eyes

And the ultimate acoustic song of all time:

Sonata Arctica - Mary Lou

And of course:

(bahaha. Only just discovered this while looking for the link above. How awesome is that? And before anyone says it, I'm fairly sure that is actually an acoustic bass, since Eggi plays an acoustic bass live quite a lot for the ballady songs)

(the BEST version of the song, by far. Tobi on piano :wub:)

Jonathan Coulton, too. The guy that did Stay Alive (the Portal ending credits song). He's done shitloads of other songs, some comical, some just fun.

Oooh, also, Kiuas - After The Storm, proving that they can actually do pretty much whatever the fuck they want and it'll sound awesome.
