The tournament begins with each of the movies being put into eight groups of five where they will "play" eachother and the movie receiving most votes in the match-up will score the win. The top two teams from each group will progress to the last 16 then last 8, then semis, then the final to crown the best comic book movie (of those chosen).

Maybe this is my non-geeky side showing, but is Terminator, Robocop, and Hancock based off of some graphic novel I'm unaware of? If not, is this site's criteria for being a comic book movie less about being based off actual comic books and more sci-fi? I mean, I know, Robocop and Terminator have been in comics, but I thought they were all, you know, after the initial movie.

Another tough one. Superman and Terminator are certified classics. Technically, though, Terminator was not a comic before it became a movie. Blade is good. Is that the Punisher starring Thomas Jane? because there was one with Lundgren in the 80's.

Hancock is definitely not a Comic. I was very suspicious of Terminator and would happily swap it if proved otherwise. That's why I've listed stuff before this starts. Indeed, Terminator was a book in 1984 but a graphic novel in 1988. Terminator is dropped. I'm gonna keep Robocop though as Frank Miller was involved in writing it but Hollywood messed with it so his ideas were put into the graphic novel.

Terminator will be replaced by the rather spiffy Rocketeer....Well spiffy in comic book guise anyway.

Hancock is replaced by American Splendor which should shake things up a bit leftfield.

Groups H & F were probably the hardest to pick one. In F you've got The Rocketeer, which I fucking LOVED as a kid - but you've also got the original Superman movie, which I assume we're talking Chris Reeves. And that's good too. Then, pfahahaha, the Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie and the Punisher. So for me there's really only two viable options there.

In H it was between Hellboy and Robocop. Dick Tracy wasn't bad, but it wasn't on the same level as Hellboy or Robocop. I hated X-Men Origins, and Ghost Rider's pretty awful so again there's really only two viable choices.

Oh, and Group C. Group C was tough because I liked all the films in C, but I went with the one that I liked the most. Iron Man's right up there with TDK as being a damn near perfect adaptation.

So easy at first glance, until I remember how much I love The Crow and Sin City. At which point it became a LOT harder. Oh and Aeon Flux was a cartoon first. Then a movie. Was it ever a comic? I don't know. But a cartoon before anything else.
