Mass Effect 2

This game is definitely tougher than the first, because you do have to take cover; the first game you could shrug off a lot of shit that will kill you quick in this one. I've died about 4-5 times (mostly while trying to do the closing the shutters part of the Archangel mission), and I'm not too far into it. I've recruited Garrus and Zaeed (Zaeed is DLC and you just have to talk to him to get him, but he comes with a mission to do later) and just got the plague cure mission from Mordin. Haven't been to the Citadel yet. The first game I didn't die at all until near the halfway point of the game.

I've found it to be the exact opposite. In Mass Effect 1, I found myself dying relatively often (especially when it came to boss fights.) Mass Effect 2, i'm 6 hours in and I haven't died once.

It might have something to do with the fact that everything on the power wheel is connected, ie: If you use one ability, all the rest are unavailable for a short time. But the cool-down rate for abilities is so quick that this doesn't become a factor at all.

Plus shockwave is too overpowered, but thats probably because I constantly spam it whenever enemies don't pop up from behind cover enough for my liking.

Perhaps I need to crank the difficulty up a bit...

...But this easiness isn't detracting from the sheer fun of it all.

I didn't save him :(

I'm just after getting the Professor, like literally after getting back to the ship. It's about as much as I expected in terms of story/combat, but the really small niggling things are weird as hell. Okay, the lame "press X, press Y, press Y" parts of the first game were tedious, but holy fuck is it boring scanning a planet, then going back to buy more probes and bleh. I don't see the point in the fuel system, I've been hesitant to explore much of the galaxy because I don't want to run out of fuel, or waste tons of credits buying more, but I guess it's probably easily taken care of. The biggest thing that annoys me is the ammo system, because just why? I mean, the was no ammo in the first game, the overheating thing was perfectly servicable, and even slightly tactical but now I'm constantly worrying I'm not being a good enough shot since I might run out of ammo. I thought the mission complete screen was gonna break up the flow too much but it's not really as bad as I expected. The whole game just seems really streamlined in some places, and totally overblown in others.

The new customisable armour is really cool though, and it's just a blast wandering around talking to Joker or whoever. I can honestly say I never expected to go into a store and buy, from the same place, a Shotgun power mod, a tiny model of a Geth spaceship, and an alien porno mag. I love the special moments during convos when you can pull a trigger to do a paragon or renegade move. Telling Mordin to shut the fuck up was awesome. Anyone know if you can miss these moments, or what happens?

Oh, and the intro? With the Normandy? Holy fuck, best game intro ever.

EDIT: Also, is the game split onto two discs? I've never seen that before on the Xbox. It's just the regular edition so I don't think it's a bonus disc >_>

Yes it is. Although, for whatever reason, the game requires you to re-enter disc 1 for the final mission, which struck me as a bit odd.

Speaking of the final mission, I must admit its very well done, and the choices you make during it will affect the game further. Although the last boss was just too easy for my tastes; especially when compared to

Soverign controlled Saren

in the first game. (Placed name of boss in spoilers for those who haven't completed Mass Effect 1...y'know, just in case.)

Best fucking game ever. Just starting to acquire the final three team members. Love this. The team are awesome, miss some of the guys from ME1. Anyone here save Kaiden in 1? What's happened with him in 2?

The first time you fight the Collectors, at Horizon, you'll see him. After the mission you can try to talk him into joining your team. He didn't join mine, and rightfully so.

that is something I like about this game...the crew is so varied that it is actually hard for me to decide who to use. I haven't used mordin, grunt or the asari yet though. I'm trying to use some different combination each time to see which crew I like best. So far i'm liking a team of Archangel and Jack...though I just got Zaeed and haven't had the chance to use him yet

Zaeed is pretty cool, and he has some interesting dialog if you take him on certain missions. If you haven't done Grunt or Mordin's loyalty missions, take him along on those, and be sure to look at the Varren fighting pit.

His special power (Inferno Grenades) isn't really that good until you get it fully powered up, though.

Zaeed is indeed awesome but as per customs I always have Archangel as my first choice of team. Anyways, this game is so perfectly awesome and epic. At first I wasn't much impressed since they changed it around so much but after playing for it for awhile, I've gotten used to it and now it just blows my mind. I mean, they just managed to tie the two games so well together; nearly every sidequest I did in the first one, has had some sort of effect in the second one, even though it just have been a note. I love this game and I can't wait for the third one. :)

Anyone got any of the Dr. Pepper code downloads for it? There are 3 different ones, and I only had 1 code, so I got the Recon Hood. (Looks kind of like the headpiece Thane wears on missions where you need breathing gear)

I am wondering when there will be more official DLC, even though it probably won't be free. One of them is supposed to be a new ground vehicle called the Hammerhead which is supposed to handle a LOT better than the Mako ever did, so I'm guessing that will mean more missions, as well.

Oh, and the two characters from the first game you have on your team in ME2 just happened to be my two favorites in the first.

If you want a good laugh, look up Kelly's romance scene on Youtube. And I don't mean the scene where Shepard invites her to his cabin for dinner.

Thade & Samara make a good team when yr against weaker enemies, especially if yr a soldier. When I say weaker, I mean like nothing too badass that requires taking a beating. Mercs, geth, etc, they just pick 'em up and throw them around so you can pick them off.

In Mass 1, most characters were useless I felt. In 2, everyone is awesome. Every team member I've got so far is awesome and can do a job.

Archangel and Jacob have been my main field team, but I've took everyone to some degree. Didn't like Miranda so much at first, but I've warmed to her after her loyalty mission.

I love the game, but I'm a little sad that I was ONE character away from getting the "No One Left Behind" achievement.

I mean, come on, Legion! Just because D.C. Douglas voiced Wesker (who was decapitated with rockets) doesn't mean Legion has to follow suit!

And he's a robot anyway, it's not like a human life was lost in the Collector Base! <_<

I'm probably going to have two who don't make it, if the Loyalty thing is the major factor:

Didn't have a high enough Paragon or Renegade rating to keep both Miranda and Jack loyal, so I sided with Miranda. When I get to that problem with Legion, if I don't have enough I'll be siding with Tali.

About Samara's loyalty mission:

I've heard at the end you can get the chance to let Morinth kill Samara and take her place (Morinth's special power is probably more useful), but apparently you must need a really high Renegade score for that option to even appear....(I believe its an Interrupt you use while the two are fighting, and I didn't get one flashing)

As far as I know there are no flashy things, just the option of choosing between killing Samara and killing Morinth. At least that is what I got and I had a full Paragon meter and next to no Renegade points at that point.

I had 3 that didn't make it, and yet only Miranda wasn't loyal to me. I think it also has to do with the choices you have to make during the mission.

But yeah, Miranda was one of the three who didn't make it, and not because of the choices during the mission, so yes, loyalty is still a factor.

Well, I've done all the loyalty missions now, and I was wrong in my last post. So Jack is the only one not loyal, and I'm about ready to do the final mission.

Really wish I had taken a screenshot of Joker's face after EDI was joking with him during the

part where you control Joker to get the Collectors off the ship. (YOU DAMN ALIENS GET THE HELL OUTTA MY YARD!)

About that last mission.

Yeah, I had all loyalty mission and kept Miranda and Thane on my team at all times, Legion did the hacking and Garrus did the fire team heading throughout. Jacob escorted the captured crew back and I didn't lose anyone; is everyone sure that it has something to do with combinations?
