Yes, the sad news is true.

"MORMON SUPERSTAR AND LEGENDARY GAMESHOW HOST ARRESTED IN JEOPARDY SCANDAL"

Tuesday, August 10th, 2004.

"This morning, Ken Jennings, the so-called "Mormon Superstar" for his 38 straight wins on Jeopardy, was arrested for cheating on the Cable TV gameshow. The police arrived at his newly-purchased Utah mansion at 8:00 on Tuesday Morning and brought him out in handcuffs. He was claimed to have been shouting, "It wasn't me, it wasn't me," in a cowardly voice. The policeman on the scene merely replied, "Tell it to the judge, Jennings."

His partner in crime, Alex Trebek, the host of the popular gameshow, was also apprehended on Tuesday at his seven hundred-acre ranch near Paso Robles in Preston, California. He shouted several profane words and put two policemen in the hospital before he was subdued by pepper spray and taken into custody.

Apparently, Jennings' buzzer was rigged to ring before anyone elses ever turned on. He was then fed the answer through electronic wiring in his ear. Trebek and Jennings then split his winnings between the two of them.

This crime only adds to the long list of them Alex Trebek already has under his belt. In 1985 he was arrested for drunk driving and on January 30, 2004, he "fell asleep" behind the wheel of his pickup truck. He crashed into a string of mailboxes and ended up in a ditch.

Trebek was living in Studio City, California with his wife and two children at the time of his arrest. Jennings was living by himself in Murray, Utah.

The two are to be put before the Supreme Court on Friday, August 13th, 2004."

This was almost beliveable up until this...
