And skipping the Super Bowl....at gunpoint I'm hoping the Giants win, as I've got a lot of friends who are Giants fans.

Gronk is fine, Welker's a little shit though. Tough as nails and a hell of a player, but he's a little shit. He's the embodiment of the smarmy dickishness most Pats fans display. Gronk seems like the type of person that will adapt that same persona quickly. They just take on the personality of the coach.

Well if Cundiff gets fired or run out of Baltimore, it should be because he's not a good kicker, not because he missed a SIMPLE field goal that his snapper and holder mishandled because his coach failed to call a timeout and rushed them out there. It's not as simple as how doable a kick was. There were other factors at work in that play alone, never mind the other 59 minutes and 40 seconds of play-time. That's all I am trying to get at. I know it goes against how most look at it, but that's just my opinion on it.

My rant/point was mostly in response to the keyboard junkies who are wishing death upon the guy.

Sorted that for you. That short a kick, the hold shouldn't really matter. There wasn't much wind from what I could tell, and although it wasn't a perfect hold, it's not like he was making contact with the laces.

Are long snappers failed QBs? Or do they go through college just doing that?

They're usually linemen, there are some specialists in the NFL, I know Patrick Mannelly has been the Bears long snapper for a decade or something.We've also used Desmond Clark (TE) at times.

I'd argue the Giants have an even better chance this year. How can you say they have less of a chance? Last time the Pats were 18-0 with one of, if not the, best offense in NFL history. This time, they've got a shitty defense and have beaten one team with a winning record, via lucky missed field goal. That's not me just being a Pats hater, I think it's a really even match up, saying the Giants have less of a chance this time than last time is just stupid.

That's fair. I have to admit today was the first full game of either team I've watched all year aside from the early-season Buffalo/NE game. The Giants seemed to me like a relatively strong defense but a subpar offence that relied mostly on Manning having time to find receivers, whereas the Pats were a more well-rounded team (Bill Simmons said the same "shitty defense" thing last week, I didn't see it today but then Baltimore's offence wasn't doing much either).
