I'm assuming someone who isn't me is also watching so let's discuss it once it starts.

This is the first year in a while where I have almost no interest in any of the awards or nominees.

I mean, I want Gary Oldman to win, but I haven't even seen the film and just want it on the basis of him being my favorite actor. That's about it.

Yeah, I think this is the least amount of Best Picture nominees I've seen going into the awards in years; just two in Hugo and The Artist. I want to see Moneyball and I guess Tree of Life and then I dunno.

EDIT: Oh boy, blackface! Hilarious!

I thought it was okay. Mostly because I'm a huge sucker for the Christopher Guest ensemble and the Billy Crystal open has set a very low bar for Oscar comedy.

EDIT: The utter confusion of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo editors was fantastic.

Wait, it's the Oscars? That's how little I've been involved with cinema. Literally here is the list of films I've seen in theaters lately to give you an idea of how often I go.

1) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

2) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

3) 2012

Probably. Director is really the only big one it has a shot at, and I'm probably being generous there.

EDIT: Yeah, Chris Rock, voice acting is super easy when you're just being hired to play yourself as a zoo animal.

THE DEAN JUST WON AN OSCAR

Also, Emma Stone mocking Anne Hathaway's hosting gig from last year was pretty funny.

What have you guys got up your ass to not find Billy Crystal funny?

I've actually quite enjoyed this years show so far but that's probably just in relation to the past few years.

Got all sad during the In Memoriam bit though as it reminded me that Sidney Lumet died in the past year :(

Delighted for Michel Hazanavicius as well, absolutely loved The Artist.

Is that the first Oscar for The Muppets? That's awesome.

Also because I have so little interest in the Oscars, I took this chance to watch Warrior. Now I'm sad Nolte didn't win. :(

Ouch. Stunned that Meryl Streep beat Viola Davis. Didn't see either The Iron Lady or The Help but I was sort of pulling for anyone but Streep or Close.

Boring Oscars but not a trainwreck like last year. The Artist, Jim Rash, and Bret McKenzie all winning made me really happy.
