The fee is rumoured to be about £11m at the most and I wouldn't be surprised to see a final figure of £7-8m given how recent transfer stuff has gone ^_^

Strange. I swear he rejected a move to Spurs last year because they didn't get CL football. I've never seen him play, but he's quite highly rated, isn't he? From reputation, seems like a bit of a coup for Newcastle.

I imagine part of the reason that Loic Remy is more readily available than last summer is that his form hasn't been all that impressive so far this season.

Whereas in 10/11 and 11/12 he did ~20 goals in ~40 games two seasons in a row, he's currently on 2 in 12.

Seems a pretty high price when considering before Christmas it seemed the budget wasn't that big and it was likely 2 (Sturridge and Ince) in and one loan.

Although that said Chelsea apparently still owed Liverpool past transfer fees so the budget could be bigger. I'm almost thinking that they went for Sturridge and want Ince because they clubs involved would in theory give good deals on the transfers (since one is a buy-back and the other club owed money).
