RTE coverage boiled down to Richie Sadler and Kenny Cunningham debating Tahiti's merits. Kenny Cunningham was disgusted!

Was gonna mention that Richie Sadler of all people berating the Tahitians for their efforts and smiling at the end. You have 1 international cap, shut up.

Awesome for Tahiti to enjoy this, really nice to see.

And fuck the people who don't think this doesn't deserve a place. They qualified for it. This kind of thing can inspire a national and even continental love of a sport. Australia where being mauled like that not so long ago.

It's just awesome to see a side completely outmatched and go "You know what, fuck it, scoring a goal today would be like our version of winning the tournament." They didn't score, but damn they tried and that was nice.

Time to see who wants it less with Uruguay and Nigeria.

Sun headline tomorrow.

'Torres flops as Spain run riot!'

Alongside a picture of his penalty hitting the bar.

Don't know if it's Dutch bias, probably slightly, but I do believe Kuipers is one of the best refs out there.

I predicted 2-1 before the game, so no more goals please. :shifty:

And FIFA might cancel the Confederations Cup ANNND the World Cup in Brazil!

Due to the recent protests around the country ( most notably yesterday at Rio De Janeiro, where over 1 million people went to the streets ), the FIFA comittee feels Brazil doesn't have security enough to host a World Cup.

I think it's because they've spent a ludicrous amount of money on these tournaments instead of on social issues deemed more important. and the spent money hasn't even been worth it based on all the problems they're still having with building things etc.

They probably won't be canceling either, the Confederations Cup is a test run to see if the country is capable of running the World Cup, if they fail that then they'll have to change/delay the World Cup at short notice.

Plus there's the problem where if they cancel the World Cup that the billions spent on bloated stadiums instead of roads, public transport etc. will be a complete waste instead of a massive one.

It looks like FIFA are playing chicken in the hope that people will have stopped protesting by next year, putting their fingers in their ears and closing their eyes until the Confederation's Cup is over.

FIFA will pretend to ignore the root of all these problems as long as they can. Hopefully at some point them and the IOC realize the massive amount of money they make these countries spend is outrageous. IOC is my favorite, "Oh you already stadiums and arenas? Too bad you have to build new everything!"

Since about 2011/2012 when there was a lot of doubt the stadiums would be done by the Confederations Cup/World Cup, FIFA saw England as an immediate replacement. If Brazil does not manage to host the World Cup, then England gets it.

In case you haven't seen it...
