Yeah, I don't trust "sources". Other sources are saying he's getting an extension with Bama right now. Not saying he won't go, but I'd wait for more confirmation than that.

The final coach's poll is revealed. Has the Top-25 as voted on by the coaches. Pretty interesting and it's funny to see how coach's with an agenda voted.

Dantonio voted his Michigan State squad #2 and I know for a fact I saw one more coach vote them #2 as well, though I can't remember who it was.

Hey, this was cool. Ex-coach P ( :crying: ) did a fairly good job I think.

Oh, while i'm here: I think one of us is Dantonio because he dropped OSU from his top-25. You'd think a school whose only loss is to #2 overall ( :shifty:) would get a gig in the top 25. Nevermind I am a dummy. I didn't think it made any sense, they'd need OSU for SOS.

I was confused as to why people would suggest he'd leave because it always seemed like a lateral move to me but if that offer is true...yowza.

Texas is the best state for HS football and spends the most on it's football athletic budget...It is the best job there is in college football. Not really a lateral move here.

It's a bit of a lateral move in the sense that best-case-scenario after a few years of rebuilding Texas, he would be in the exact same spot as he is with Alabama now, which is being a powerhouse that contends for national titles every year. It's freaking Alabama. If they want to recruit Texas, they can. If the money is equal, what incentive would Saban have to pick up and rebuild elsewhere this late in his career? This is why it probably isn't going to happen. You could argue that he's left places before, but those moves were all fairly logical.

LSU to Miami - Moving to the pros

Miami to Alabama - Not working out in the pros, going back to college.

Alabama to Texas - ???

It's not a lateral move. It is if you're looking at it in the simple sense of "He's a head coach at a great football program and leaving to be ahead coach at a great football program", then yes, I see your point. But it's a little more wide-scale than that.

The guy would make double his salary, guaranteed, nevermind what his share in the Longhorn Network would bring in (lots). The man would never have to leave the state to recruit ever again if he didn't want to. Now take a look around the SEC. It's only getting tougher. This Auburn turn around isn't a fluke. Malzahn is going to have that program kicking for years to come. Ole Miss is super young, but incredibly talented. Florida and Georgia aren't likely to stay down for too long. LSU is LSU. Saban would pretty much own the Big-12 (he'd have the only team that plays defense in the conference), thus having an easier road to going undefeated.

It's MUCH more wide scale. If you're king in Texas, you're king, period.

Yeah, Bama ... but a top Bama team DOES NOT carry the clout a top or even a significant Texas team does. Perfect example ? Mark Ingram is the ONLY Heisman winner in Alabama's history .... Johnny Manziel wins it as a freshman at "the other Texas program" that lost twice and finished 3rd in the division.

Texas is a much higher profile job (and this coming from an Aggie). 2nd most wins, ever. 2nd most bowl games, ever. Most winning seasons, ever. Most appearances in the BCS poll, ever.

It has the biggest budget and revenue of any program.

Saban gets players from Texas, yes .... but he isn't getting what he wants and that's with him being the top dog the last 5 years. He's already losing out to A&M ... put a 1% coach back at Texas, he has no shot at a kid if Texas or A&M wants him.

You don't see the debacles at Texas that you've seen at Bama (mark price or shula for example).

The list goes on and on.

Friend suggested to me that since Saban has apparently had an extension offer from Bama since last Friday that he has not yet signed it is very possible Texas was waiting to hear yes or no before telling Mack Brown whether or not it was time to step down. He theorizes that Saban gave them a "yes" yesterday and that Brown decided to resign as soon as that happened.

It makes a lot of sense in my eyes.

Now if only at the Sugar Bowl Nick Saban rips off his Alabama shirt when shaking hands with Stoops, reveals a Texas shirt underneath, and high-fives JBL as JR stands by stunned. :shifty:

3 winning seasons out of those 4 head coaches though. But yeah, it's a real pisser. They have a billboard up in downtown Little Rock promoting A-State / welcoming A-State's new head coach, and for the fifth year in a row it's going to have a different name on it. >_>

Christopher McComas wasn’t necessarily looking around for new jobs.

But when he saw on Twitter that UND was looking for a new head football coach, he decided to go for it.

McComas may have no formal coaching experience (he’s a system integration specialist at Marshall University) and no ties to North Dakota. But his application and cover letter definitely stood out from the rest.

Here is the letter he submitted to UND athletic director Brian Faison:

“Mr. Faison,

I would like to express to you my interest in your now open position for head coach of football at the University of North Dakota

Currently, I work in IT at a college in West Virginia, but I have many years of experience with football, starting with attending my first Marshall University football game when I was 3 years old. In the past 30 years I’ve only missed a handful of Marshall’s home games, attended many road games, and all of their bowl games.

All the while I played various football games including Madden on Sega Genesis where I completely dominated with the Bills and Thurman Thomas. Seriously, was he a beast on the game or was he a beast because I was a football genius controlling him? I then moved on to a Playstation gaming system and purchased NCAA Football every year and put together several programs that completely dominated the recruiting scene and college football winning several national titles with Marshall University. I took them from a decent Mid-American Conference School on the game to a perennial national power that makes Nick Saban look like a chump. One year my third string quarterback left school early to enter the NFL Draft, he was a first round pick. Boom.

My football philosophy is basically an attacking one. We’re going to give AIR RAID a whole new definition. Theoretically how many times do you think a team can pass in a game? Challenge accepted. We’re going 5 wide, chucking the pigskin all over the place. Never punt. Onside every time. Chip Kelly will be calling me to learn my offense. We will put on an exciting brand of football, we will pack them into the Alerus Center night in and night out, go ahead and blow the roof off the place and add about 35,000 seats to that place.

I would love to speak with you further regarding this opening and what I can bring to UND, putting UND back on the national map and making NDSU our (b****).

Attached to this email you will find a PowerPoint with more information.

Thanks,

Christopher McComas

PS - I prefer Coke to Pepsi, so go ahead and fill the fridge up in the head coach’s office with Coke.”

In a nine-page PowerPoint presentation attached to the cover letter, McComas further explains his philosophies.

“Chuck the pigskin. Fourth down? Chuck the pigskin,” he said.

He also lists a four-step blueprint.

“1. Recruit great players. 2. Win a lot of games. 3. Recruit more great players. 4. Win more games.”

McComas does admit that he probably won’t graduate a lot of players.

“They’ll all be leaving early for the NFL,” he said.

McComas also said he hopes the Alerus Center can install an air raid siren for his offense.

Faison hasn’t indicated what type of coach he wants to hire, but if he’s looking to “chuck the pigskin,” he knows where to go.
