  1. Yeah, I was feeling Coach up until this episode. Something today about Sophie's confessional struck me as important. Her calling Coach out on the hypocritical prayer definitely seems like it's important - either in terms of Sophie's jury question OR Sophie's jury performance. Just a guess.
  2. Worst move ever. Anytime somebody asks to get voted off is dumb. Considering that the vote after the merge when tribes are equal is integral and the tribe who wins immunity has a better chance statistically of not drawing a purple rock and therefore can convince somebody on the bottom of an alliance to flip over. Ozzy, being dominate in challenges, is probably better to have around than guy like Cochran. Also consider that Cochran is so clearly in the bottom of his alliance and so clearly an outcast whereas Ozzy (minus Elyse boot) is so clearly invested in the success of his tribe. Also consider that Christine is most likely going to join up with Savaii as she hates Upolo. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. It's going to bite them in the ass.
  3. And Ruki with the win! I wanted to buy Borderlands, forgot about it, and now am going to buy it tomorrow.
  4. To the EWB PS3 users: Need a split screen game (preferably FPS, but anything really) to buy that isn't Resistance! What's good? And the cheaper, the better.
  5. I really like every track off AVD except for Brianvision. It's getting a mixed response from critics, but I think it will age well. I don't like to compare them to Daft Punk, because everybody did it for Cross, but I really feel like this will hold up over time like Discovery did. Discovery is considered a classic of this century, but upon release, nobody really instantly loved it.
  6. I love James Blakes first three EPs, I adored his album but his new stuff just misses the mark. That collaboration with Bon Iver was not listenable and a low definite low point for both.
  7. http://www.metacritic.com/music/mylo-xyloto Critics not liking the new Coldplay so much...
  8. Yeah, I feel better live band than studio albums. I don't really like the new album so much. I thought Lust for Life was good, but wasn't a huge fan of their first album.
  9. I'm on the fence when it comes to Lana. I think she has an interesting voice and has some decent songs behind her, but I don't understand the hype or hate towards her. The dude from Girls was pissed that she was featured on Jools, which brought me joy because the dude behind Girls kinda comes across like a douche.
  10. Because she makes boys cream in their pants?
  11. Justice - Audio, Video, Disco. I feel like a lot of people (re: Pitchfork) are going to HATE this album. I personally enjoy it. The Metallica sampling off their live album was a sign of things to come, for sure.

Just my two cents: whoever is running this thing should just select an album as opposed to everybody getting a choice. Or, alternatively, use a site like Metacritic, randomly take an album released in the week OR take the release with the highest score.
  13. For those interested on the speculated twist for next season...
  14. Ozzy has made major mistakes the last few episodes. Telling Keith about the idol? Check. Openly getting close AND flirting with Elyse when you know there is another couple? Check. Generally acting lazy around camp? Check. Asking Cochran how to spell his name (presumably because he plans to vote him out)? Check. Revealing that if he were Coach, he'd vote out Albert next? Check. I'm convinced at this point Coach wins the game. I mean, he hasn't made a mistake yet. And his alliance (Sophie and Albert) is pretty astute. Smartest move of the game yet? Albert telling Sophie and Coach he had the clue and finding it together. Not only do you not put the Idol in your own hands (which has caused the downfall of so many strong guys in the game), you gain the trust of two allies and make your threesome much stronger because you possess the Idol. Todd proved in China that you don't even need to hold the HII to gain a lot of power from it.
  15. I just purchased a PS3 three months ago. My friend lent me GT4, Little Big Planet, Resistance 3 and Infamous 2. Looking to add a new game as I finished GT4 and Resistance 3. Don't really care on genre, just something that will keep my attention. I work a lot, so games that require me to invest a lot of time and energy (Fallout for example) probably isn't my type of game, but I could be persuaded otherwise.
  16. So just so we clarify: you don't think it's an actual question to query into whether or not your video game MIGHT be breaching intellectual property laws? Because as somebody with a little bit of experience in the field, I think you've got some problems on your hands. Like as in, you really should actually ask a lawyer about this.
  17. Great third episode. I was completely wrong. Upolo is turning out to be INFINITELY more interesting than Savaii. By episode 3, I can safely say that Brandon is playing one of the worst games I have seen in a long time, but also giving us one of the most interesting Survivor story lines in a long time. When have we seen a Survivor story line that dealt with people's morals and ethics in such a real way. Brandon is falling apart and it's amazing television. Also: how amazing is Coach playing this season? He's not playing a Boston Rob type game, but he definitely knows what is going down on his tribe. I'm disappointed Papa Bear went home, but Coachran seems to be better television, so it's probably better in the long run. Ozzy is not Boston Rob - his move of telling Keith of the HII has been the biggest blunder so far in the game. Keith clearly does not trust Ozzy as much as Ozzy trusts Keith. Two funny moments: Semhar's poem and Papa Bear running through the woods like a huge queen. I nearly died laughing for both.
  18. Yeah. I typed a response and accidentally deleted it. I hate saying people are wrong, naiwf, but it's flat out wrong. Example: Michael Jackson only wrote four of the songs on Thriller. Madonna wrote about half of the albums on her albums. Aretha Franklin made a career off covering other people's works. Whitney Houston wrote one song of the Bodyguard Soundtrack. Today, lots of pop stars do actually write their own stuff. Off the top of my head, I know for a fact that Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Adele, Lady Gaga all have majority writing credits on a lot of their work. Heck, even somebody like Ke$ha, who is miserable, writes her own stuff (and other people's songs, including Britney Spears songs)
  19. Rock: Radiohead. There were five bands I really considered when it came to rock music - Radiohead, The White Stripes, Arcade Fire, the Foo Fighters and Green Day. I instantly tossed Green Day out - they really are iconic for releasing American Idiot and I think that since 2004, it's really hard to see their influence on anything. The Foo Fighters have been consistent, but I don't think consistency is enough. The Arcade Fire I could see a case being made for, but I think Neon Bible holds them back. It was praised when it came out, but nobody really talks about it anymore. It was tough to decide between the Stripes and Radiohead, but I think the White Stripes teetered off near the end of the decade. They started off strong with two of the hottest albums and than didn't really maintain their momentum. Radiohead I think encapsulated the decade of rock music - experimenting with electronic music, being able to adapt to the rise of the internet, 5 "good-to-excellent" albums, and the fact that they are arguably the most influential rock band of this decade. Pop: Beyonce or Justin Timberlake. Considering both started off the decade in huge groups and went onto more successful solo careers, I think both will be considered. I'd put Beyonce ahead of Justin because she managed to nail out four albums this decade while Justin only managed two. I think if Justin was able to release another album somewhere in the decade, I think he'd definitely be at the top of this decade. Hip-Hop: Jay-Z. I disregarded Eminem because dude seemed like a parody of himself midway through the decade (Ass Like That, anybody?). Outkast released three albums, two of which were amazing and one which was very meh. Kanye West was close, but I think Jay-Z eclipses. Kanye West probably was more consistent, but Jay-Z released 11 albums (7 solo, 4 collaborations) this century and really solidified himself as the Frank Sinatra of rap music, in my opinion. I think his success with the Blueprint 3 also really helps him - above average album, but the singles were huge and really solidified Jay-Z in the mainstream again. Electronic: M.I.A.. I actually had a tough time with this one. I thought about Daft Punk, but they only released 2 studio albums (one of which was panned upon release), 1 film score (which received an overwhelming meh) and 1 live album. Sure, they had mainstream appeal and recognition, but they barely did anything throughout the decade. I thought about LCD Soundsystem, but for reasons listed above, put them aside. Another act who could fit the bill - the Gorillaz. Than I thought... M.I.A. The girl defined internet blog hype in 2004, released a hugely successful and influential mix-tape helped launch the career of Diplo, released 2 albums that were great in defining the schizo nature of the 21st century, made it huge with Paper Planes, performed at the Grammy's alongside the Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil' Wayne and TI. I think the only thing holding her back is 2010, when the girl went absolutely crazy. She attacked Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, she accused the CIA of owning Google and Facebook, had Sri Lanka and others calling her a terrorist, pissed off Diplo and the New York Times and than released Maya, which was divisive and definitely out there.
  20. From January 1st 2000 at 12AM to the present time which here in Canada is September 28 2011 at 10:47AM. Please don't include leaks to albums yet to be released in your analysis, as it will throw this whole process out of whack. This is serious business, folks.
  21. Hm, that would be a great idea... ... oh right...
