Still ahead and pulling out a slight lead thanks to binge watching The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings in a matter of four days, also made the decision to only count one watch of a movie as being included in the total meaning rewatches of movies I've watched this year don't count. The main reason for that is to try to watch movies I haven't seen since before, I'm planning to buy myself the Stanley Kubrick collection on payday so will probably end up with several of those on my list next week.

Manchester By The Sea and Disorder were the pick of those lot; the former is phenomenally moving and the latter is excellent at building atmosphere and tension while presenting a quiet and moving character study that I felt incredibly involved in.

Jackie and Zootropolis the pick of the bunch. Spiderman 2 has aged incredibly well, Toby's emo dance in #3 is still amazing. A United Kingdom and Lion are both good but ultimately play it too safe, although Lion at least pushes boundaries a little more in the first half. Marguerite & Julien is worth avoiding.

Romance Fortnight was my girlfriends way of helping me to watch movies I would normally avoid, I'm not a fan of movies with too much in the way of romance but will be watching 1 romantic movie a day upto and including Valentines Day. The following fortnight I am planning to watch a movie made between the 40's and 70's, in what I will be calling Old School Fortnight, this is my way of forcing myself to watch some movies that are not normally my cup of tea. If anyone has any suggestions for decent movies from that time period I'll take them into consideration.

Combine those and watch His Friday Girl (1940), I love that film! It stars Cary Grant! But there's loads of good films between 1940 and 1970. Depends on what genre you like.

I normally stick with action, adventure or comedy movies so am trying to move away from those, I am not a fan of horror movies so those would be the only thing I'd avoid if suggested.

Silence and Paterson were the absolute standout films, images and scenes have stayed with me weeks after viewing.

Kind've disappointed by I Killed My Mother and Wuthering Heights - the former, my first Xavier Dolan film, was impressive for the age at which he directed, but a little flat compared to the hype and the latter is the only Andrea Arnold I hadn't seen - she's been such a huge influence of me - and even if this is visually incredible, the acting and pacing of the story leave a fair bit to be desired.

California Split was by far the most fun, desperately need to see more Robert Altman and Elliot Gould, preferably together. I've somehow never seen The Long Goodbye, so looking to fix that asap.
