Your Local Bands/Artists

I mean, let's not post shitty bar tribute bands that are in your town, but maybe some good stuff from wherever you live. I'm friends with some of these people, others are people/bands that they know, etc.

I went to high school with all of these guys, and they won a Battle of the Bands competition earlier in the year with the prize being a set at Bonnaroo. The guy in the yellow in this video, Taylor, had another band called Chalaxy....

He also plays music live with Molly Rocket...

And then there's PUJOL - he's put out stuff through Third Man Records and Saddle Creek, and played Bonnaroo before. Arguably the biggest success story to come from my little po'dunk town in Tennessee, if we're talking music.

Then for rap, there's Redneck Souljers but.... ehhhh, that's not my cup of tea. Same thing with Big Smo, who's from the town next to where I grew up.

Ooh! Ooh!

There's also Soul Embraced and Living Sacrifice, the two bands Rocky Gray was in before Evanescence, but they aren't really my cup of tea. They're christian death metal, and when Living Sacrifice reunited in 2008 it was a big deal in the local music scene because Gray's considered somewhat of a local legend.

I'm my local band.

We've played with some other Kent/London bands who I love muchly.

If I had to list a favourite ten we've played with and who are worth looking out for if you have time, in order of how many times we've played with them (as I'm working down a list):

Kill Rpnzl / Enid

Eat Me

Teal

Exoskeletons

Frau Pouch

Dust Bunnies

LAMO

Punching Swans

Ray Gun

Deary Me

I also loved Sleep Society when they were active locally. Driver's a top bloke anyway but he would come alive when he performed. He would be pretty wired though so half the time his set would end prematurely if he walked off due to breaking a string, or feeling like he'd made too many mistakes, or being unhappy with various things....but there was always a LOT to love.
