  1. I don't like rap music...but I love challenges, and one of the things you need in graphic designs is tolerance to doing works on things you don't like. So, with that said, bring it JP...you're on with those first rules.
  2. Is this for everyone, or just for two people? Because if for two people, I wanna get in on it Hmmm...theme... Animal kingdom? Futuristic/Sci-Fi?
  3. Rules...? Please...? And it's cool man, you're doing fine
  4. Second round goes to me then...let's get some third round rules!
  5. C'mon people, more votes! Gotta have four votes to win the round!
  6. Did you have more computer problems? It's been way more then the next few hours
  7. Alright guys, since the Graphics Forum is under new management (myself, obviously), I've been wondering about trying to start a few things new and fresh--which also includes these monthly contests effects in 'The Gallery'. What I'm going to ask is basically, what if we were to keep our current one from when AJ ran the place...but made a new one seperate from it? It's almost like starting fresh again, with a blank leaderboard for everyone to have a chance at excelling on. It'd sort-of be like a new chance for people who missed out on earlier contests, making it harder for them to catch up. While I like the idea myself, I don't want to make that change on my own, and so I'm asking all of you for your opinions. Should we keep using our current graphics leaderboard/gallery, or should we make a new one to use and keep the old one to remember? Thanks for your time.
  8. It was the face that I thought really gave the graphic a 'hopeful' feel to it, and I'm not sure about your 'all black' comment...do you mean it's too dark, or do you literally only see black there? Because on my monitor, that's a person with a large blanket waving in the wind, and they stand out from the slightly dimmer background. Maybe my monitor settings are brighter then yours if you're only seeing black though, I dunno
  9. 'I look out over a dusted horizon, The life before me dull and gray, My eyes close soft as a prayer within, Comes forth to speak what my heart does say, When all seems lost, and the future grows dim, The hope we hold can still guide the way, Eyes open gently to view once again, The land where life found life today.' Got bored before bed, decided to make a graphic. No real story to it, it's just that when I finished it really seemed to inspire hope through itself somehow, so I gave it that name. The little poem is something I just whipped up to go with it. Thoughts/Criticism/Ratings?
  10. Based it off of magazines like Vogue, thought it came out pretty well Model's name is Rachel Bilson G'luck JP.
  11. Apologies for the delay everyone...AJ got caught up with other things and couldn't keep up with the graphics forum due to them, and what with the lack of judges from before and everything...I decided to step in and offer help, so here I am now. As far as the July and August contests, I've no clue who won those unfortunately as I don't have the scores and, at this point, I think it's too long-gone now to figure out. If everyone wants a winner for those two instead of just moving on, I'll ask AJ to send the judgings he received as well as his own, and we'll either only use those scores or, if need be, I'll pull out of whichever ones I entered and just judge the rest myself. Now then, for this month's contest.... __________________________________ NOVEMBER CONTEST Theme: Pick a war, any war. No matter how long ago the war was, you can still use it. Now that you've got your war picked...make a propaganda poster for one side of the war, and try to make it look as authentic as you can. Be creative about this, try to research the topic a little and look at propaganda posters already made or, if there are none for your war, think of what the side you've chosen would have said if they could have made one. Restrictions: You must show your sources (Photos used, etc...link to'm.), and if you got the idea from another propaganda poster, it'd be cool to link to it for comparison. Size: No particular size needed, but it'd be appreciated if the poster wasn't too small or too large. Posters can be done in landscape or portrait style. Now then, for your do's and don'ts: DO... ...use a reliable host, as the contest won't be judged until AFTER the deadline, and any images that don't appear, or have been swallowed by the dreaded red X, cannot be judged. ...link to your entry, IF you feel that the poster size is too large to post. I think that, other then some of our slower users, we can all handle several graphics of moderate sizes being posted--however, for the love of God, if the graphic is large...don't post the picture, just post a link to it. DO NOT... ...enter more then once. You can make corrections on your graphic, you can replace it with a NEW graphic, but the fact is you only get ONE entry. However, all edits/replacements/corrections can only be made BEFORE deadline. If any graphics are caught changed post-deadline, the user will be disqualified. ...post about wanting to be a judge. I would rather people participate in the contest itself. I'll contact people about judging this thing when the time comes, and if I have a shortage of judges, I will ask someone in the contest if they'd be willing to withdraw and be a judge, simple as that. Alright peeps, let's get things started again! You have all month to think of something, and I want a good turn-out! Good luck, everyone! EDIT: Forgot to pin the topic. Just learning these controls for now
  12. Sounds good to me, soon as I get back power at my house I'll get straight to work on it. Also, CT: Practically the same rules, except the one I did was for a movie poster. Long while back now since I made that, I'll probably try and do it again eventually but...not yet
  13. Same here, I had that same set of rules, actually, a long while back...and while I'd love to improve on that graphic, I'd much rather do something I've not before--which is why Doc's rules appealed to me so much. That was something I had to do completely from scratch, because it couldn't be a game already made.
  14. ...just use the IMANDIX one I gave Doc the link to XD All you have to do after that is create your cover using the regular flat layout like I did.
  15. You only have to pay if you can't earn your way in. Basically, go to the 'Proving Grounds' and post your works as far as DVD/Game Covers go, and hope for the best. You should be able to get approved. I got improved just off of my Wrestling DVD covers, actually. Thanks to the place I've gotten better ever since.
  16. http://www.imandix.com/download/IMANDIX_Cover.zip Once you unzip it, just put a shortcut to 'cover.exe' on your desktop for quick use. The rest just leave alone--it's the template images. As far as the label thing, not really...I'll be looking for some soon though, so I'll give you a link soon enough. Meanwhile, you should really join up with and check out the following board, as they have TONS of high-quality DVD/Game Cover Scans, as well as alot of custom-made covers: http://www.generetic.org/
  17. I use 'IMANDIX_Cover' for my 3D-making process, and usually just fuck around with the highlight and shadow settings...because pending on the cover, different settings look more realistic. So I always preview the settings before I save, to make sure it looks good.
  18. Basically, there are three easter eggs on the cover. 1: Samara from 'The Ring' is the girl on the front cover 2: The girl used in the posters for the upcoming game 'F.E.A.R.' is the girl on the back cover 3: Screenshots were taken from 'Cold Fear', a zombie game that takes place on a ship, just like Doc says. Glad you liked it Doc, I was hoping to get feedback from you since you made the rules
  19. I came up with a new gaming company for this, 'Forsaken Pixel', and made them a logo. Then, after fucking around with a multitude of ideas...I finally found the one perfect for this. "Eve" is a futuristic-esque style third-person shooter game, where you take control of James Reeve, member of the New York coast guard. Fighting your way through the undead, ghosts, and other haunting anomalies, you struggle to find out the cause for this sudden other-worldly invasion, and a way to put an end to it. Eventually, you find out that the answers to your questions lie within the very core of the first ship that brought forth the invasion... December 31st, 2034: The eve of the end. Flat Version: http://home.ripway.com/2005-8/402065/EveFlat.jpg Full Version: http://home.ripway.com/2005-8/402065/EveFull.jpg Good luck, JP (Y) Oh yeah, and in spirit of it being a 'Best of 7' series...first to 4 votes wins the round.
  20. Sounds good to me, I'll get started if JP is cool with it.
  21. Plus you and I are like graphic rivals anyway Rule us up people, let's start the first round.
  22. So yes, I'm looking for someone (Preferably someone well-established as a good designer here) to face me in a Best-of-7 graphic series. First person to get 4 wins, wins it all. Who's game?
  23. YES! YES! FUCKING YES BABY, THE STROS HAVE DONE IT! WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO! IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING, BUT WE FINALLY DID IT!!!! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
  24. If that happens I'll cry. I'll seriously cry and curse Brad Lidge's name time after time again. We've made it so fucking close to the World Series how many times now? Tonight could-have been our night, and Lidge dropped the ball.
