It's a tournament. For graphics. This is the sign-up thread. The rules will be unique ones that will benefit you if you ever make graphic designing a profession. How much more description is needed? I could write a story about the tournament's history, but there is none >_> I was just wondering what the structure and rules will be mainly. ie. simply a knock-out tournament or a league kinda thing, separate rules for each battle or a theme? Ah, I get you. Yeah, that'll all be revealed when the tournament begins Speaking of which, sign-ups are going to close on March 15th, the tournament will then be put together shortly afterwards. Like I said folks, I want this thing to be huge, so if you know ANYONE outside of EWB who's into graphic designs, invite them to join. They can join for the tournament, but for all we know EWB might even get a valuable new poster out of it too. This isn't just about promoting traffic to the Graphics Forum/EWB, it's about helping everyone's level of design advance throughout with challenging stipulations and professional themes. Let's make this thing huge, folks... still working on figuring out what a possible prize could be for the winner and the runner-up

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what we all should hope will be the turning point for the EWB Graphics and Web Design forum: Revolution. Common name, yes, but hopefully it will fit this project's purpose. Plain and simple... EWB: Revolution is a graphic design tournament, stressing a mixture of creativity AND real-world designs into one, looking to push your limits harder then they've been pushed before and help all of us excell as designers. Some of us are taking this hobby of ours to the real world, others might just keep it as the hobby it is now... whatever path we decide to take, however... will benefit from this tournament. There is an unlimited number to those who can sign up. Invite your friends, have others you know from other forums sign up to participate as well. I'll talk to the admins about even coming up with a prize for the winner if it's at all possible. I don't know how long this thing will last before we have a winner-- I don't know if it'll end in March, April, May... I don't know. I do know, however, there will be a winner, and all things will go on schedule. To join in on the tournament, simply reply stating "I'm in" Also, I'm accepting two 'advisors' for this thing. In order to keep from having to totally rely on other people, which is usually what holds back results for Monthly Contests, I will accept two people to act as judges and send me their opinions on a battle once both entries are posted. Their opinions might persuade me or bring up factors of graphics I missed, thus tilting my decision in favor of one designer over another. However, in the end, I'm the only judge. So let's get things started everyone... sign-ups are open for this thing. Let's make it the biggest, most successful EWB Graphics Tournament there ever has been (Y)

Not a sign-up thread... just a discussion really about the idea. I'll be wrapping up some homework here and then I'll get to putting together a sign-up thread and asking for a subforum, so be ready

It'll be coming tonight, unfortunately I couldn't make it last night as alot of personal problems got in the way... things are better now though, so the plans we've set in this thread will swing into motion soon enough

If you guys really want one, let's shoot for it then. Today's the 27th, so on Wednesday (March 1st) I'll post sign-ups for the tournament. It'll be something for the month of March. Let's make it big, folks... I'd really like to see this place active again

I had a plan of sorts to start up a tournament for the place, but after the abysmal showings for the monthly contests I was a bit unsure about it really. I want to moderatre this place properly, I really do, it's just hard to when there's so little activity in comparison to the past. So before we come up with ideas of things to run now, let's come up with ideas to promote activity here. I'm up for whatever ideas you guys have, I'm pretty sure if I asked the admins would let me have full control over the Graphics forum rather then limited (I can't make subforums like Hamster can in the Cube, etc...) and I'll be perfectly happy to work with everyone on these things. I've not done that great a job at trying to revive this place, admittedly... but if you guys are willing to bring it back up again, I'll do all I can to help.

They really were, but at least they added reasons in them. Had they not then they'd be at fault for petty flaming, rather then him for not being able to handle it just yet.

You guys are nothing but assholes. It's a bit harsh, but they're giving you criticism. Take it and try to make a better graphic from it, rather then be offended. People are a bit harsh here is all, just learn to get better from it.

Yeah, that's the official Matrix font that I used, so it was probably intentional to match the logo

I agree totally. I mean the cover looks good and all, but it's basically using the style that the Matrix already has. It's more of a challenge to take something that looks really shitty, that has no image already, and build it up yourself. So yeah, the cover looks solid, but it's nothing new. Actually, you saying that there triple is what I wanted. The first cover doesn't match the other two when it comes to color scheme, much less the layout... so I was looking to add a bit more harmony among the three covers. Spruced up the front and back so it'll look better, followed everyone's advice with the black bar... tell me what you guys think now

That black bar is the ground they're walking on, AJ I used it at the bottom for the names, but yeah, I was tempted to have them up top like with the original. And I'll try uploading it here then, I just wasn't sure if there was a size limit on images uploaded.

Oh for God's sake, friggin' Ripway... Alright, one moment, I'll see if I can transfer it onto Imageshack or something since Photobucket would just resize the image.

Warning: Clicking the image leads to the flat version, which is huge. It's the official DVD size for printing, so if you know how to print it properly you can replace your old cover with this one I spent a good while today working on this... I've really wanted to get back into doing more professional work lately since I'm going to college for it, so I'm starting off with DVD covers and all. I really love doing these things... and I'm really proud of the result of this one. So yes, comments/criticism/rateage? (NOTE: I noticed the cut-off on Keanu Reeves' name on the front cover... for some reason the 3D thing was set to the wrong size when I went to do the 3D effect... and I only just now realized it, and I need to go to bed -.- So I'll be fixing that tommorow, no worries) EDIT: Ripway's gay when it comes to bandwidth, so if you click the image and it doesn't give you the flat version, just wait until the next day to try again... until I can upgrade there isn't much I can do unfortunately.

See, now this is why I love the Keef, he makes me laugh before I go to bed. He also tucks me in, but that's another story. Far as the movie goes... looks interesting, and I might go and see it with my girlfriend (I don't remember which one was the one with the guy in the wheelchair and the haunted house, but we saw that one together and cracked up at the wheelchair racing scene) Doubtful I'd see it in theaters, but it could be rent-worthy.

I need to get terragen, looks like you can seriously make some great things with it. It really looks nice Doc, but I don't know about the satellite. The beam looks nice, but there's something about the satellite throwing things off for me. Maybe it's the size or something, or the fact that it's rather close to the surface of the water to maintain orbit Nonetheless, one of the best non-named peices you've done in awhile.

Admittedly, that got a chuckle out of me. However, he DOES want suggestions... so the next person to spam in this thread will get a warning. I'll post some thoughts for you later, busy right now unfortunately.

I've waited long enough, still no judges, so I'm using my backup plan. I'll be contacting some friends of mine who also do graphics, get them to do the ratings with me. I don't wait around for judges... it holds up the monthly contests. Also, look out for something new in this forum sometime between mid and late January... as I'm putting the finishing touches on it.
