  1. Haha, Meireles attempted to mount Giggs.
  2. That is the full list, those 6 players. van der Sar, Vidic, Ferdinand, Giggs, Gerrard, Ronaldo.
  3. Ferdinand's still slightly better than Vidic, it's just that Vidic was fit for more of the streak of clean sheets. EDIT: I've been really impressed with Fellaini in every game I've seen him as well. Probably not top 6 in the country, admittedly, but you always get questions asked when there are baffling inclusions like Giggs.
  4. Gerrard deserves to win it anyway, but Lampard not being on the list is absolutely ludicrous considering he's played even better than Stevie G.
  5. Fucking hell, penalty (and a just one I think.)
  6. Lower League clubs probably do pretty well out of it this way, don't they? Attendances will definitely be up since it's a bank holiday with no PL football.
  7. We don't really know what the significance of the cabin is. Others in here have mentioned that Horace built Jacob's cabin, but I can't actually remember when we were told that. Jacob's been around on the island for at least 50 years, so he must have been around since before the construction of the cabin (if it was indeed built by Horace.) Maybe it had some other function? I don't think communion with Jacob is as exclusive as we thought, since Richard managed to trump Widmore in their argument over saving Ben by saying it was what Jacob wanted.
  8. Yeah, I've got it but it's a bit pointless. I don't actually like the gameplay, I like the nostalgia.
  9. I decided to download CM01/02 since it's free and it's hilarious fun. Playing as West Ham I'm having a tough time deciding who plays as first choice left back - Nigel Winterburn or Scott Minto. And I have Steve Potts! It's great.
  10. This starts tonight at 9pm on Dave. Having seen another quick preview recently with some kind of crazy slo-mo gun battle I'm starting to hold some hope that this isn't a cheap vehicle for X-Factor jokes, so I'm a bit more excited.
  11. I think it was a definite penalty and a definite dive, but maybe that's just me. It seems to be accepted that you can throw yourself to the ground as long as there's contact, but that pisses me off. It's that kind of tactic that makes it impossible for referees to give legitimate penalties when the player doesn't go down. I'm sick of hearing 'If he'd gone down he probably would have got a penalty' - well then, it was a penalty and the referee didn't give it. Isn't that a problem?
  12. Lol, Andy Gray. 'I just don't know what Dossena offers to a team in search of a goal.' Yeah, because he hasn't scored any goals recently.
  13. Yeah, but even if they win 2-0 at the Bridge they go out.
  14. No, it's actually pretty good although the last season massively disappointed me. It's in quite a nice zone between being far-fetched and so-realistic-it's-slow like The Wire. Definitely worth watching the first series, anyway. Have you tried Arrested Development yet? That's another one like The Wire that basically gets funnier and funnier episode by episode (but it's not as slow to start as The Wire.)
  15. TENNIS: In terms of actually just watching the sport, I've got phenomenal respect for Federer and think he's one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. I've got no idea what he'd be like in real life though, so I'm not going to say it's his personality that really make me like him. I love Andy Murray's tennis but he's a sulky little bastard on-court. I've met him a couple of times and he seems to be incredibly dull, so it's purely because I love his style of tennis that he's in here. MMA: Got to be St. Pierre. I've totally lost track of UFC (and MMA in general) since it's all been on Setanta, but he seemed like a really nice guy. I absolutely despise Matt Hughes (particularly after seeing him on that series of TUF,) so that probably made me like Georges even more. SNOOKER: Got to be John Higgins. Really polite and mild-mannered when interviewed but still has the right mentality to win. I absolutely loathe Ronnie O'Sullivan, probably more than any other non-football sportsman. EDIT: Forgot to add ATHLETICS: Michael Johnson. Atlanta 96 is one of my most vivid sporting memories and it take a particularly cool customer to be able to sprint like they actually don't give a fuck. This is all compounded by the fact that he's probably my favourite ever sporting pundit in any field and I'm still baffled that the BBC have got him.
  16. Um, it's already happened? That's what they've been hammering home. Maybe Desmond will come along and change things, but the point remains - as far as the Losties know, Ben WILL kill all those people, no matter what.
  17. Yeah, that's a pet peeve of mine. They ALWAYS seem to pause the picture at totally the wrong moment. It needs to be just as the ball is played or it's totally meaningless.
  18. VILLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Lol, United defence.
  19. Yeah, there are definitely some serious problems in Scottish football when it comes to drinking. This was part of the reason why PLG lost the players - because he tried to instil some professionalism and Ferguson and his mates were having none of it. I know it's a problem of the population at large as well, but there's absolutely no way footballers should be drinking until 11am in the morning when they have a vital match 2 days later.
  20. They were drinking for 8 hours solid just over 2 days before a match. There's absolutely no way that wouldn't have affected their performance. Added to which, this is absolutely not the first time this has happened. Ferguson has even been warned about drinking on international duty before, I believe. Who's to say what other kind of things they've got up to that haven't resulted in a public punishment? Ferguson is exactly the same at Rangers, he does what he likes and thinks he can get away with it because he's a big name. I think we're at the point where they'd rather have Marshall in goal than have a captain and goalkeeper who thinks it's OK to get bladdered 2 days before a match.
  21. This is just one of literally dozens of incidents Ferguson has been involved in over the years and I honestly believe that a lot of what happens doesn't make it to the papers. They were acting like children and spent several minutes trying to tell the SFA 'up yours' thinking they'd get away with it because it couldn't be proved. Ferguson's legs have gone and McGregor is only ever going to be second choice, so if they're a bad influence on the squad then get rid of them. They were punished for the drinking session (one of many) by being stuck on the bench and they were still more than happy to show they didn't give a shit, so even now they're probably being apologetic in public but badmouthing everyone involved behind the scenes. The fact that Rangers have also taken action goes to show that there have been many, many other incidents over the years and this is the last straw.

    The Wire

I actually didn't like that scene as much as some other people did. In any other programme I'd think the writer was trying to be profound and communicate some serious statement to the viewers. The more I got to know The Wire, the more I thought it was something D'Angelo thought was profound even though it was crude.
  23. Have you tried Arrested Development? By far my favourite comedy of all time and it's absolutely perfect for watching loads of episodes in a row because you appreciate the running jokes even more.
  24. It's really good. It's got the dad from Malcolm in the Middle but it's far more serious. It's a drama with a sense of humour, though. He plays a high school chemistry teacher who's diagnosed with cancer. He can't bring himself to tell his wife or handicapped son, so he tries to deal with it himself. He has financial issues and encounters a former student of his who's a small time meth cooker and decides he's going to become a drug dealer. He takes to it with scientific precision and a lot of the attraction of the show is this middle-aged, middle-class guy trying to make sense of the underworld. There's a healthy dose of him dealing with his illness and mortality as well.
  25. Djibril Cisse arrested and bailed on suspicion of committing common assault outside a club last night.
