  1. Actually, a totally different kind of wrestling game - one the doesn't pretend it's real combat. Make it co-op and you and your partner have to execute moves as well as possible to avoid botches. You try and put together a match with good pacing and get style points for getting the crowd involved. Probably couldn't be as good in practice as it is in my head
  2. They should do a game based on The Wire. You start off visiting your dealer, return home to shoot up, fall unconscious, wake up, stumble out of your front door to return to dealer and get shot in the head at random. The end.
  3. Fantastic quote in another Kotaku article on GTA:
  4. FIFA should make it a rule that all pitches have to be mown with straight lines to assist linesmen making offside decisions.

More game-breaking bugs in UT. I bought a Mancini card through bidding and transferred him to my club. I go back into my watch list and he's still there. When I click on the card, nothing happens. Because of the shitty 'bid again' bug I now can't get anything of my watch list, so I can't buy anything at all. People on the forums have said that things like this happened last year and people ended up having to start new clubs
  6. Well, they are building the Etihad Campus, a £100m project which is supposedly going to include an entire 6th year college and other unidentified community facilities. I've got no idea what Whelan's done for Wigan. He also owned the Rugby League team there and the stadium they both play in, so I guess he's created jobs and upgraded facilities, but I'm not sure what'd be different to City. The vast majority of his and their money has gone towards paying for the first team. If Wigan are paying out 90% of their turnover on wages that's probably where his investment goes.
  7. What do you mean by 'in the club entirely'?

EA have released the patch and it's made things worse. I've frozen on the loading screen of all 4 matches I've played so far and I can't get any of the cards I've won on auction (they're highlighted green with the tick but if I click on the card it gives me the 'bid again' dialogue box.) EDIT: And now half the cards I thought I'd won have now turned red several minutes later.
  9. A salary cap that isn't tied to turnover, which is what Whelan advocates. He's taken a club from the Third Division into the Premiership by spending a truckload of his own money and now he's reached the point where his finances don't allow the club to progress, so he wants the rules changed so that he can. Is he suggesting the changes so that he can save money? No, he doesn't want to make a profit, he wants to continue spending money and he wants Wigan to be a top club despite the fact that by any objective standards (sporting achievement, playing staff, history, finances, support) they aren't. Last year I was totally behind Wigan staying up. I like the club and I think they've done a lot to bring good players into the PL. I just absolutely despise Whelan's hypocrisy for claiming they're the blameless David in a fight with the evil Goliaths. If you want football to be decided on the pitch rather than in the boardroom, then he is amongst the worst offenders in the sport. If you want clubs to succeed by what they do on the pitch and by the support of their fans then Wigan are absolutely undeserving of their position. They got to the PL and they stay there because of the millions that he spends on the club and yet he gets no bad press whatsoever, whereas City are seen as ruining the modern game? Hypocrisy.
  10. I think that if they wanted to scrap relegation they wouldn't just pick the 20 teams from that season and say 'these are the Premier League clubs forever more.' What if Newcastle or Villa get relegated and Blackpool get promoted? They'd shit it. Why would one season of good performance justify being in the top division forever? No, I'm absolutely not in favour of scrapping relegation (which is not the sane as a franchise system.) I think that Whelan gets no PR credit for coming out and saying he'd walk away from something that he knows he would have no part of. Just as the Liberal Democrats were for many years in a position where they could say anything they like because they weren't going to be put in a position to back up their claims. They can say "we'll cut taxes, reduce debt and increase spending!" and it's hard to refute because they'll never be in a position to do it. Whelan can say "I'll walk away from any elitist, commercial new Premier League!" when he knows perfectly well he'd never be invited into it. Whelan irritates me constantly with his hypocrisy in these issues. He's in favour of a salary cap and yet Wigan are consistently the worst offenders for wages/turnover (over 90% of their income is spent on wages.) It says something that Real Madrid are nowhere near breaching the Financial Fair Play rules and Wigan are nowhere near obeying them. He wrote to Scudamore and suggested clubs should only be allowed to borrow 25% of their turnover when Wigan are £73m in debt from an annual turnover of £43m. He has pumped millions and millions of pounds into getting Wigan into the Premiership, at which point he moans about the practices of other clubs? Is he a guy who wants to preserve the integrity of football, or is he a guy who wants the rules changed so he has a better chance of winning? I think it's the latter.
  11. Easy for him to say when he certainly wouldn't be invited to be in the new league
  12. If you're going to be in the Conference North or South, then it's pretty easy to build yourself a good team just with free transfers. What'll restrict you most is the wage budget, so I'd look at the teams around you and judge how high you want it to be. If you're using the editor you can set the size of your stadium and that's what'll really affect your dynasty most in the long term. When I've done a similar thing in old versions I've given myself a tiny stadium and small wage budget to start with (as in - smallest 2/3 in the division) but with a massive potential for improvement. I don't mind the restrictions meaning I spend a few years wallowing, that's sometimes the fun part. I also want to be able to eventually get to the Premiership and not be stuck in a 7k stadium with no room for improvement and a board that refuse to build a new one for some reason.

I've been disconnected either during or immediately after two semi-finals and two finals in the last few days. Don't even really have any hope that they'll fix this problem either, since pretty much every bug that's existed in the last three versions of the game has ended up coming back.

You kind of get used to playing against the computer. If you play a more simple, reserved passing game opportunities open up quite often. You can also fake shot past the AI defenders much more easily. If the guy's in goal you have to change your shooting as well. If you line up a precision shot to the far post and instead shoot quickly to the near post you can catch them out when the AI would easily make a save.

I would kill puppies to get an Ibrahimovic.
  17. Was about to say the same thing. Carlson is a fantastic pundit and probably one of my favourites across all sports. The fact that he's a pretty big wrestling fan and manages to drop in occasional anecdotes is all the better Imlach was a good foil and the introduction of Kelly has been pretty distracting so far. I think Nick Halling's departure hurt my enjoyment of Sky games. He seemed to come out with more interesting statement than Reynolds (who's more prone to the same media cliches.) I liked Halling and Cadle's banter, but too often this season it's been Peoples and Cadle rambling away in a likeable way while Reynolds sits in the background, grinning like an idiot.
  18. There are two 'problems' with the current system that combine to make it worse than it has to be. The first is that 10-10 rounds are never awarded and the second is that 10-8 results are ludicrously rare. It's a system that forces judges to give the same reward to a fighter that ekes out a round and to one that absolutely annihilates his opponent. If the job of the scoring system is to accurately interpret a fight then it fails from being incredibly inflexible - it recognises no difference in superiority between a fighter that can in practise have tied a round with his opponent and one who has sometimes repeatedly knocked down his opponent. The number of rounds that falls within these two extremes is a pretty large proportion of the whole. There should be a scoring system that allows judges to accurately reward fighters within this pretty large sample. If the 10-10 round is encouraged then you take out a lot of the problem of giving a fighter a pretty big reward (a point in what's close to being a race to three points) but it would also inevitably increase the number of drawn decisions, which is not really a practical solution. The other is to extend the other end of the scale - either by awarding half points or making the 10-8 and 10-7 more common, leaving 10-9 to reflect small victories. If most rounds are going to be 10-9, a very small number 10-8 and 10-7s are almost unheard of, why is the scale set at 10 anyway?

HHHmmmmm ... that blows (thanks for the heads up, as it makes sense). Looks though, that if I wait that long that I'd be crossing it into the side netting ... bleh, more figuring out. You can still do basically the same cross even before you get to the line of the penalty area, you just have to press more directly into the middle of the pitch. When you're inside the 16 yard line, you can still be pressing mostly forward (imagine the direction those balls that went into the stands travelled) but outside the line, you have to press straight up for some reason. This doesn't really help when you're pretty much on the line and don't know which one to do

There are a few reasons that can happen, I keep doing it myself. Firstly, if you press LT (is that L2 or L1 on PS?) as well as the cross button, it always goes straight. Second, if you cross before you reach the line of the penalty area, it does this as well. I think that's because 'long pass' and 'cross' have different pass assists, so what can be the right angle for a good cross actually means a long pass put into the stands.
  21. I guess some people think they see something of the real personality of celebrities in what they do, which is why we tend to have favourites. If Sonnen treats media interaction as a way of creating a bit more hype and excitement around his fights, then that's fine. It's not a crime, it's just that some people will then decide they don't like him as a result (which is their right.) Some people like Dana White and some don't, some people like Sonnen and some don't. My opinion is that I'd prefer to never hear their posturing and ego, leaving fights to be determined by what's going to be most interesting, rather than who comes up with the best soundbites.
  22. Personally I feel like his shenanigans have crossed the line from being harmless fun with the media to being a cynical attempt at self-promotion. He's saying and doing anything he can to get himself the best deal. I genuinely like Koscheck a lot more than him

    FIFA 12

This version seems to have had more problems than most. Gameplay tends to be subjective, but the interface and structure of the game is riddled with bugs. 1) Web app was unavailable when it launched and then again after the game itself launched. 2) You're quite often left unable to get into UT with a generic error message. 3) If you want to play a game, the interface can hang before kick-off, leaving you in a ridiculous stand-off with an opponent you haven't even played yet to see who loses their DNF. 4) The control glitch is back (though possibly only on PS3.) Opponents can take control of the players on your team and use them to score own goals and get sent off. You have the choice of fighting on and having a raft of players suspended for the next match or quitting and losing potentially 1000s of coins through DNF. 5) Watch list is sometimes empty even moments after you've put items on there. Entering this screen directly after a match can cause a lock-up. 6) Player stats don't work. Games don't count seemingly at random (even when you somehow manage to complete a game.) The option to sort your players by different stats doesn't work.

Happened to me when I'd just played a ball over the top, putting a striker through on goal. Camera pans back to an opposition player down injured back in my box. Game restarts with a drop ball and my player punts it straight to their keeper. I'M SUPPOSED TO GET THE BALL
