  1. Sounds like Memento to me too. The guy has a form of amnesia where he forgets things every ten minutes or something. He has tattoos all over his body so he remembers how to shave and stuff like that. He's left himself clues to his wifes killer, and he's looking for revenge, if he can remember long enough to carry it out. That your film J?
  2. I'm guessing it's leaning more towards using the D-pad for menus and stuff only, since there's a seperate analogue stick in that pic. It's still frustrating that more and more games are forcing the use of the analogue stick, since I hate using it, but it's not as bad as I first thought.
  3. See, I have this thing where I glance at a line and sometimes the line underneath it meshes into the line I'm trying to read, if I'm reading it too fast. So imagine my surprise when the topic title and subtitle read THIS to me. "Bender's given birth~!" I mean COME ON. Oh, congratulations to Britney, commiserations to BSIG. I know he wanted to get in there first >_>
  4. Well obviously I wasn't thinking about draft rosters. I'll keep my mouth shut in future

    Godzilla

Yeah, thats the song that was on the soundtrack for the American Godzilla film. The American Godzilla which is referred to as GINO, or Godzilla In Name Only. He got his ass kicked by the real Godzilla in Final Wars Godzilla was awesome, I really need to see more films. EDIT : Should probably make an attempt to answer Ap Sham's questions >_> Godzilla was created as a result of nuclear tests, and the whole thing was supposed to be a commentary on the ethics of nuclear practice. There's a lot more detail I've skipped out on, but thats the gist of it, it was pretty much radioactive mutation, as far as I can tell. There was even a later film based around a huge pile of garbage called Hedorah, which was supposed to be a commentary about the effects of human waste on the planet, and so on. But who cares about the details, you're watching men in rubber suits throw each other at paper mache buildings. How can you not be entertained? Well, there's been about fifty years of Godzilla flicks, so there'll be a good amount before the bastardisation. According to wikipedia.com, there's 29 Godzilla films altogether, and six of those came out after the American one, but they used the original Godzilla design. GINO only ever appeared in Final Wars in 2004, to get fucked up by Godzilla, and he was referring to as 'Zilla'.
  8. Benji is correct. I always preferred Aeris anyway, I hate people saying it's Aerith. Thats just too hard to pronouce >_> Although I wasn't aware of 'makou'. I noticed you used that in your diary Benji, I thought you were just making a subtle reference to Mr McFarlane
  9. It probably will go down in value once the 360 is out, since it's older hardware. Your independant shops and whatnot will offer you a lower price, but you might still get a good amount for it if you sell it to a friend or something like that. I tried to do the same thing ages ago with my Playstation, and the retailer only offered me half the price he had them at due to the fact the PS2 was about to come out, at the time. So yeah, don't expect to get too much from it if you wait longer. :\
  10. Way to take it out of context (Y) I waqs replying to the guy who said that season mode was going to be shit, despite the fact he'd heard nothing about it. So I brought up the point that if you think one player mode will be bad, at least you'll have two player mode which will be good, from the sounds of things. Who really gives a fuck about all the different arena? Is having the new Wrestlemania 21 arena going to make the game ten times better than having a generic one? Of course not, but it's a small detail that makes the game feel more realistic. If no one 'really gives a fuck' about a few extra textures, then why were loads of people asking for a create-a-belt mode? Why were people pissed off about there only being two belts you could fight for in SDvR? If you wanna go the full hog, lets get rid of all the PPV arenas, and just have Raw and Smackdown ones. Is that variety enough? And La Resistance, Paul London and others, who needs them? We have CAW, why waste time adding a few extra textures?! Hell, why not just send out a demo with a few wrestlers and get it out before half the roster leaves the company! Not quite, but nice try. The point I was making, if you bothered reading first, was that I saw plenty of reasons why the game might not be quite as bad as Nick Adams was trying to say it would be. Of course the game is going to be pretty much the same as last years game. The fucking sport is the same as it was last year. When the WWE decide to get rid of pinfall decisions and start booking buck naked matches, THEN you can expect a radically different game. If you think THQ or whoever should stop making updated games and just settle for one huge game thats the best in the genre, then complain to them about it. You should know by now that thats not going to happen with the Smackdown series, so why bother moaning about it? *pushes Matzat into flamewar* I'd love to see a WWE game with a complete roster, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that it's not likely to happen anytime soon, and moaning about it in a thread on some totally unrelated internet forum isn't going to do much. Call me a fool if you want, but I'd rather make the best of what I've got, instead of complaining about something I can't change.
  11. Matzat is that you? They have 'expansive' rosters, it's just filled with a lot of the wrong people. They've got a lot of good stuff this time round though, the roster isn't too bad. Sure, there's a few people who shouldn't be there, but there's a ton of people who've never been in before, regardless of how long ago they should have been in. To blindly say that the roster is rubbish without even playing it is pathetic. Just glancing at that list on page 4 I can see around twenty or so new faces to play with, but then again, we don't like letting facts get in the way of a good rant, do we? As far as I can remember, the series has always had the exact same control system, except for a few minor changes. I'm not sure if the four-grapple-types thing has always been there, but thats the only thing I can think of thats changed. And apparently SDvR06 is going to have a ton of new control systems like stamina-replenishment, the new irish whip system and so on. What exactly is wrong with this? I'll agree with you that it looks fucking stupid to have three matches per card, and only one that you can actually interact with, but it's purely aesthetics. Does it matter if there's five matches, three matches or hell, one match? Not to me, it's the storylines that are important. And as far as I'm aware we haven't heard anything about season mode yet, so I don't see any point in bashing it. It could be the most orgasmic season mode you've ever set sights on, it might not be. Wow. Have you even read anything about the game, let alone played it? From what I've saw it looks to be the best SD game yet, and I'm far from being the biggest fanboy around. They've added ALL the old belts, so who gives a fuck about Season mode? Multiplayer is going to be awesome this year. They've added at least one more match type, and they've given us the old school steel cage on top of that. Most of the animations have been redone, so it's not only going to look new, it's going to feel new. They've added new little touches like having realistic entrance times, and opponents during entrances, and there's a hint of some good old ECW stuff being thrown in. To me that looks like five steps forward, but since I'm a nice guy I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume season is shitty. Five steps forward, one step back is pretty fucking reasonable to me.
  12. I went with 2004 simply because I only seem to have seen one new film this year, being Star Wars :\ But any year with Dodgeball AND Anchorman has to be the funniest, at least, and throw in good stuff like Spiderman 2 and Collateral and you got yourself a winner. There's only maybe three films from that list of 2005 that I'd like to see, but no doubt I'll see a lot more when they're out on DVD
  13. Well if it's taken this long to get La Resistance in the game...I'd guess when MNM split up and everyone forgets who they were. I love that the ONS arena is in, that is fucking awesome. It also validates my hope that there'll be a shitload of ECW stuff for CAW. If they have the ONS arena, they MUST have Sandmans entrance >_> The roster doesn't look that beefy, I'm sure oneo f the earlier SD! games had something like 70 wrestlers, but there's a whole bunch of new guys on the roster which makes me happy. I'm surprised at a good few of them such as Hass still being there, or Spike Dudley being there at all, but overall it looks like this might not be that bad.
  14. Yes. Her name is Chiaki Kuriyama, she played Chigusa in BR, which is the girl in Pepsi's avatar. Unless she's changed it Useless trivia~! The actress who played big BR baddie Mitsuko, Kou Shibisaki, was apparently in the original script for Kill Bill, as the sister of GoGo Yubari. She was supposed to stalk The Bride for killing her sister before she was (obviously) killed herself. So now you know >_>
  15. Finally, someone who shares the sam opinion as me! Nearly everyone I've spoke to about it says the second is miles better and I just don't see it :\ Well, if we're gonna be technical you could say they're all better because technically they're all sequals to The Phantom Menace
  16. It's not exactly banned in the USA at all, the company in Japan who distributes the film, Toiei or something, refuses to allow it's release in America. In fact there apparently have been many major film companies offering to buy the rights from said Toei or whoever. On subject of the film, both are good. But the original is better. The original is the only one that follows the actual Battle Royale concept which is no doubt why you're interested. The second film deals with the consequences of you actions, such as the consequences of having a game like BR. As Beat Takeshi put it in the first film "If you hate someone, you take the consequences." Don't expect the same thing from the second film, and you'll probably end up enjoying it a well.
  17. My lecturer showed us the original Annoying Thing one day in Animation class and we all thought it was hilariously random. I can't help but glare at that same lecturer now that I know he contributed in some small part of getting people to like the fucking thing >_>
  18. I honestly despised the soundtrack in SDvR, but after having saw most of the entrances I had it on mute. I would much rather they left out soundtrack music altogether, I mean it's not as if you hear random bands playing during matches on Smackdown, is it? I'd prefer it if they used the time and money on implementing some better features such as, as Dragsy mentioned alternate costumes, but I guess I see why people like it. It's pretty much the only thing I'm going to complain about, because it's looking awesome so far.
  19. I just can't think of a response to that :| I think I just came This sounds like it's going to be a pretty fucking good game, it sonuds as if they're almost trying to make up for the dissapointment that was SDvR. In the interview the guy said that THQ were pulling out all the stops, but I hope it's not just for this game, to re-evaluate the series then go back to churning out sloppy updates. It could be the definitive wrestling game we've been waiting for, if it really delivers. I love that all the old belts are back, even the Hardcore. Who cares if it's defunct, I'll bet most people who actually stuck with SDvR made that one anyway. I'm curious about the 'special surprise belt' but I've a feeling it'll be something like the Smoking Skull belt, or Cena's spinning belt. The former might be alright, at a stretch, but the latter would be disappointing :\ They mentioned that entrances will be pretty much perfect. Animations have been redone, and they haven't cut down on entrance times now, meaning facing Undertaker might be a bit more frustrating than usual (). Opponents stay in the ring, or at ringside for the second wrestlers entrance, which is another nice little touch they should have added ages ago. Good to see it's finally being implemented. And finally, do you think I'd be drastically wrong to expect a shit load more ECW type stuff in this game? Not in cases of added wrestlers obviously, I'm thinking more CAW wise. The WWE has been making a shit load of cash off ECW lately, and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if they threw in a bunch of old ECW logos into the design part of CAW, or even some animations. It may just be wishful thinking, but I want Sandmans entrance
  20. The reason the blurs are there is to simulate realism. There isn't actually genetalia behind it, but his proof of nudity is that there are blurs? Wow. This guy needs beaten. With a San Andreas case, for preference >_>

    Book Thread

I finished The Da Vinci Code a few days ago. As an original story, taken purely as fiction and without the incredible hype, it would have been an enjoyable read. After the ridiculous amount of excitement and popularity that people have spewed all over it, I was left slightly dissapointed. Like I said, it was an enjoyable read in itself, but I was always waiting for that moment where I'd think "Wow, that was amazing." and it never came. The book is seriously overrated, and is bursting with recognisable cliches if you know how Dan Brown thinks. Having read part of his first book, I had an idea of how he thinks, and TDVC came off as being incredibly similar, in long strokes. The details are different, but the gist of the books seem remarkable similar. Hero investigates unusual murder, gets drawn into conspiracy plot by secret society, falls in love with heroine partner and uncovers the secret. Bleh.
  22. They are, but it doesn't bother me. For a game thats years old, there's still a shotload of interest in it, why not make a quick buck off it? If it comes with the added bonus of potentially getting three good games and a few questions answered in the process, is it really that bad?
  23. IGN think it might be Chris, due to the response they got when they asked the same question. "The only hint is that the team are the same as those who worked on the original." Something like that anyway. I'm all for it being Chris, he's much better than Leon (>_>). The screens I saw looked incredible, but I haven't watched the clip yet. Here's hoping that it's a continuation of 4, where the Las Plagas type enemies are spread all over the place. I can't wait. GameFAQs has it as either Chris or Hunk. http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/3268/chrisre57ep.gif *shrugs*
  24. I'm sure it is a charge every month, but from what I saw of it it's worth it. Matzat invited me a while back to play the European Beta and it was pretty cool. I didn't get to play much since it seemed to be down a lot but the customisation was very cool. I created an almost perfect Kane-Clone >_> The only EWBers I know that play are Midget and maybe GhostMachine. I assume Matzat would play as well, but I can't remember anyone else. There was a topic about it a while back, but I think it was mostly about charges. Hope you enjoy it ACS, you finally get a second computer or something?
  25. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) GTA San Andreas (PS2) Final Fantasy VII (PS1) MGS: Snake Eater (PS2) Metal Gear Solid (PS1) The Punisher (PS2) Deus Ex (PS2) Resident Evil REmake (Gamecube) Timesplitters : Future Perfect (PS2) WWE SD!: HCTP (PS2) I haven't bought a new game in ages, I mostly rent games. I've got about twenty or so, but those ten are the ones I play most. Honourable mentions would go to the Splinter Cell series, Hitman, FFX and almost every other RE game
