  1. It could also be because he is from North Carolina where they are. Helms was there with him and their whole group are all noted MMA fans.
  2. The main issue I have with the Phalhares fight and suspension is that the referee seemed to be out of position. After watching it live and then watching the reply a number of time it seems like it could have very well been much less of an issue had the referee been in a situation to get there faster.
  3. Thiago Alves underwent brain surgery earlier today and will be allowed to begin training again in three weeks. He is already petitioning for a fight on May 29 @ UFC 114.
  4. As much of a test it will be for Lombard it will be a test of how together Filho is. That's what interest me in the fight.
  5. That rumor came out early last week/late the week before when the Chuck/Franklin rumors started circulating. Dana has been denying it like crazy saying it's Couture/Franklin instead and yesterday Chuck said he was still set to face Ortiz on a conference call yesterday.
  6. You can keep saying that all you want but that doesn't make it true. The guy's a winner, plain and simple. I realize that as a Ravens' fan you're not exactly a Ben fan and that's fine. But to say guys like Eli, Flacco, and McNabb are better than Ben is absolutely laughable. Ben is waaay more clutch than Flacco and McNabb, and Eli really has only had one good run. I'll give you Peyton, Brady and Brees. Rivers and Rodgers need to a win a Championship before they can even be on Ben's level, IMO. I could give you lots of solid statistical reasons why Ben is a Top 5 NFL QB if you want. I'm not sure what you're statistical comparisons are, but going with the numbers you would be working with it seems that even Chad Pennington could be a Top 5 NFL QB by your standards.
  7. So, I got a pretty good deal on some of the expansions for Fallout 3. Now that I've installed them can I return the disk or will I need them again?

I like it, quite a bit actually.
  9. The Mortal Combat movie also came when standards were so different than today. Popcorn action flicks were all the rage during the 90's and they came a dime a done in the same fashion. That formula ultimately got played out and caused the industry to up their standards to keep the viewers happy and willing to pay. Naturally, we are going to want a higher quality movie 15 years later (for the original, 13 in regards to Annihilation). Also, most of the fans of that series are now a decade older so Mortal Combat is more than likely going to be a 'young age favorite'/childhood classic to us. We are more knowledgeable 10+ years later and while adaptations are going to still target the gaming audience, that demographics for the audience have progressed with the years as well. What was being targeted at 17 and under is more widely accepted for 18-35 these days. I'd wager that 7/10 times if I'm channel surfing and Mortal Combat is on TBS randomly then I'm going to stop and watch it for a least a few minutes, but that is because when the movie came out I was killing it on SNES and at the time really didn't know better. Now, I've been playing Tekken since I was in elementary school and still do to this day. With that said, I'm almost 23 years old now, I'm not going to want to see what I already saw with Mortal Combat with such a large amount of aging between.
  10. Herb Dean is the man for the "playing the game" comment.
  11. My girlfriend just picked Kongo. She said she sees "a fire in him that I don't see in the other guy".
  12. Doesn't the 10 second delay apply to cable/satellite as well, or is that just basic television?
  13. Dan Severn is only 7 fights away from 100 victories. Having only 16 losses in 108 fights isn't bad at all, especially at his age.
  14. The "shooting themselves in the foot" is more directed at the Heavyweight picture, but it trickles down. I'd apply it to the Middleweight picture as well with the way the title bouts and contractual agreements played out. I'm not insinuating that the organization as a whole is doing such a thing, but the title scenes make them look mediocre at best right now. Lashley is coming up, but as we learned with Rogers, we don't want to jump on the gun on him just yet so he is kind of void for as far as the title is concerned. The depth for Mousasi is questionable, but is the most stable division right now. Lightweight looks to be on steady ground as well, but it doesn't look good overall when 1/2 of your title pictures (3/5 of the male division where the cluster is taking place) looks scrambled to anyone watching. Strikeforce's largest audience is the casual viewer at this point due to the CBS deal in place. MPH, while a handful of guys like you, myself, Fitzy, Maxx, Rich, etc. that follow MMA via internet and forums regularly are going to know what's going on, it will only serve to confuse the casuals that are just watching because it's on free, local television when they see previews/ads for the guy that just got knocked out last time they watched fighting the champion in a non-title fight.
  15. Strikeforce is kind of shooting themselves in the foot right now. They have been on such a good run, but even with the Hendo signing they are losing a bit of ground. -The Heavyweight title scene is a complete car wreck due to the Overeem/Fedor/Rogers situation. He won the title in 2007, right? It's 2010 and he is finally fighting again, like stated, not for the title. Fedor came in, knocked out their top prospect and then claimed contract dispute. Now the former top prospect, that was knocked out by the top heavyweight in the world, is fighting the champion in a non-title fight. The guy that should be next in line in most opinions (Werdum) is kind of lost in the shuffle while they guy he recently defeated (Silva) is facing the guy that the prospect most recently knocked out (Arlovski). If that confused you, I apologize. -The Middleweight champion - win or lose - has one fight left on his contract and he has already stated that he is looking to "explore options" after said fight. Has also recently called out the top competitors Welterweight champion so it seems his focus is elsewhere. GSP also would like to face him so that puts a bit of leverage on his situation. -The top 'bad boy' and Welterweight champion, Diaz, is on a tear as of late, but keeps calling out the same Welterweight champion from the competition. Even going as far as telling Dana White to "call me". -It is also no secret that Robbie Lawler is trying to bang his way back to the UFC as soon as he can get Dana to take another shot on him. At least they have Mousasi about to sign a long term deal.
  16. I feel badly for Rogers right now. I know he isn't the type of guy to turn down a fight, but it seems as if he is being mishandled when it comes to the title scene.
  17. Pulling for Jorgensen here. It'd be awesome to see him pick up this win and then get Page following. Sokoudjou didn't look too bad against Moussasi in their Strikeforce fight when it was on the ground. Moussasi said he tried some different things going into and during that fight, but that of course is only half of the battle. While it is only my opinion, I think that Sokoudjou needs to take on some lower level competition in his next few fights and stop getting so far ahead of himself.
  18. What is the deal with Sokoudjou these days? He is a ball of raw potential, but he isn't showing the ability to do anything with it. He hasn't done anything to keep facing off against top names and elite level opponents.
