  1. Vote the way you want to vote. Nobody's stopping you.
  2. 1. The Tick 2. The A-Team 3. Louie 4. Batman 5. King of the Hill 6. Mystery Science Theatre 3000 7. The Simpsons 8. The Sopranos 9.. Fawlty Towers 10. House That order is definitely determined by strategy, not necessarily my all-time favorites in their precise order. Expect this list to be edited as more nominations are made.
  3. There's going to be a television title tournament! That is to say, EWB is holding a tournament to decide its favorite television series of all time. But how do we decide what shows qualify for the tournament? We make nominations, and that's why this thread is here. The Rules - List 10 television series that you wish to nominate for the tournament. As in EWB list threads of the past, shows you rank number 1 will receive 10 points, shows you rank number 10 will receive 1 point, and the shows in between will be scored accordingly. (Tip: Given that the vote tallies do not necessarily determine the overall winner, you might wish to nominate strategically so more of your favorites can be included.) - I will determine how many shows make it into the final tournament, depending on how many shows are nominated and receive sizable amounts of points. Shows with the most overall points will receive more favorable placement in the tournament and kept as far apart from each other as possible. The final number of shows that make the cut for the tournament will be a multiple of 16, as to provide cleaner progression. - You may only nominate strictly fictionalized television (i.e. basically comedies and dramas.) There are limits to what can be nominated, so we can keep this at least somewhat focused and balanced. Reality, wrestling, sports, and news programs are examples of nominations that will not be allowed. Likewise television movies and mini-series are not allowed. - You may nominate a series still on the air or a series that has been done for years. These are all-time favorites. - Feel free to edit your choices along the way without making a new post or telling me. I will tally the results only after the nomination deadline has been reached. - Once the tournament begins, we will all vote on the individual match-ups, round by round. Any questions feel free to ask. The deadline for nominations is currently set for Friday, March 23rd at 11:59:59 PM U.S. Central Time. If nominations drag before that, we'll end them sooner. I will have my own nominations up soon.
  4. Just watched this week's show. I agreed with Juliette winning (though Sarah was at a song choice disadvantage, which sucks, 'cause I like her), I'm cool with the lady who won the "No More Drama Battle" 'cause that could have legit gone either way, and I totally dig Jamar - even though I HATED to see Jamie go, as he was in a situation similar to Sarah's. I feel like Lee should have won that Nirvana battle. The rest I didn't really care for. Cee-Lo's team still has me the most interested.
  5. Just watched Canadian Bacon. A lot of fun actors in a really dumb movie. Also, I've rediscovered Quantum Leap. Such a great show, complete with an awesome Mike Post theme song.
  6. If 13 Assassins counts, I'm counting Trollhunter.
  7. Completely disagree with the bolded portions. Community may have the unofficial tag of "The Show That Does Conceptual (Or Genre) Episodes", but that's not all they do. Not by a long shot. And while non-fans may have their curiosity piqued by "they did this wicked cool action movie-style paintball episode", they need to see a solid non-genre, non-conceptual episode to get drawn in as regular viewers. Ultimately, as we've learned over the past year or more, the timeslot itself makes it ridiculously difficult to pull in new viewers. But if any episode is gonna capitalize on the temporary eyes that MIGHT be there, it's a solid non-conceptual piece that's true to form. Tonight's episode was exactly that. It was an ensemble piece that was characteristically self-aware that further developed individual characters and their relationships with each other, all while maintaining a stylized sense of intellect in the dialogue. 30 Rock was fun, mainly for Jack's plot and Hazel. The Office was indeed very good, in that "oh my god, so much awkward tension" way. I'm not sure if I necessarily want Catherine Tate as the manager, but I could see it working for a time. And this episode proved, once again, that James Spader as Robert California makes for the most charming and likable villain. If all three shows can keep this up through the end of the season, the 4 show block post-Parks and Rec's return will be absolutely killer.
  8. I'll forge ahead, even though that sounds like you find it particularly scary.
  9. When I say "expand the concept" I mean TV overall (not just dramas) of all time (not just the past 25 years.) More or less scary, GoGo?
  10. Vulture's doing a tournament to decide the Best TV Drama of the Last 25 Years. I'm likely going to expand this concept quite a bit and do the same thing here. Who would be interested in that happening?
  11. John Hodgman explains the best way to support Community. Read it quick, so you can watch the show live, one hour from now! Also, for funsies, Vulture visited Community's set and took pictures of 27 cool things they found. The Greendale Underground flyer is my favorite.
  12. COMMUNITY. In approximately one hour on NBC. Watch it LIVE, Americans!

  13. I've seen that site zillions of times. And I love it no less on the zillionth time than I did on the first.
  14. Yeah, my problem wasn't "there are not movies I want to see", as I wanted to see quite a few. I've just been broke.
  15. Trollhunter doesn't count, does it? It appears to have been released in 2010. EDIT: Also, nevermind. The King's Speech doesn't count because it was already on last year's list, finishing ninth. Goddammit. I was going by US release when I put that in there and forgot when I saw your country of origin rule. And it probably was very low or didn't rank last year, I'll bet. Point is, everybody watch Trollhunter. Oh, and I need to pull The King's Speech too. BANNER YEAR FOR ME AND MOVIES.
  16. Are you thinking of the PG-13 re-release? IMDB says the US release was December 24th, 2010. 1. The Muppets 2. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo 3. Thor 4. Captain America 5. X-Men: First Class 6. Bridesmaids And that's it. Just 6. (EDIT: COULD HAVE BEEN 8.) I actually saw 9 movies released in 2011, but I don't want to be responsible for either Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides or Kung Fu Panda 2 being anywhere on the final list. They were both decent, but not that good. The 9th movie was The Hangover 2 and fuck right off with that.
  17. There's also this (which I assume will only be viewable for us Americans.) I cannot fucking wait. I cannot.
  18. I like the name "Adley Stump". I do not like the person. Mind you, I base that on the fact that she reminds of everything horrible about Texas and Oklahoma that I've tried so hard to escape. And yes, Anthony and Jesse were tremendous.
  19. Finally got to watch Monday's show tonight. Ultimately, the battles from Cee-Lo and Christina's teams were the only ones that had me interested in either performer. At this point, I can't yet back anyone from Blake or Adam's teams.
  20. I'd care more if he were with a chimp.
  21. Project X fails by virtue of no involvement from Matthew Broderick or chimpanzees.
