  1. Crystal Palace 0-2 Man City (Sat 12.30pm, TNT) Everton 1-1 Burnley (Sat 3pm) Luton 0-1 Bournemouth (Sat 3pm) Brighton 1-2 Arsenal (Sat 5.30pm, Sky) Man Utd 1-3 Liverpool (Sun 3.30pm, Sky)
  2. The lottery makes a teardown feel even harder, especially when the non-teardown Guardians are picking 1st this year. It's a tricky spot. A farm system based rebuild is a 4-6 year process, depending on whether you prioritize college or high school/international. I couldn't ever see a NY team actually pulling that off without fan revolt. One bad stretch requires some Herculean effort of propaganda about the prospects they currently have. It's why we get the hilarity of almost every once-in-a-lifetime prospect on a NY team being generally above average.
  3. First no hitter of the season thrown by Ronel Blanco of the Astros in his 8th career start.
  4. Gongaga also got markedly better once I had enough fast travel spots opened up. They do reward you for suffering through it and much of the core storyline in the region takes you through a lot of it. The protorelic quest was the one that was super annoying at the end, I believe two of its locations were very out of the way.
  5. The Tigers have debuted their HR celebration. Good luck to the other 29 teams on topping this.
  6. That was a masterful performance by Saliba.
  7. 2 games into his managerial tenure with the Angels and Ron Washington has apparently called a team meeting. The Orioles have completely beaten the life out of them. They batted around in the 6th inning today and every batter scored, being capped off with a HR. Absolutely dreadful team in LA.
  8. Jets really going to try and have a all-in season, which I can't blame them for since Rodgers is old. But I can think of one team you could argue it worked for (Rams).
  9. I saw the screenshot floating around and I went "this has to be Photoshopped" Appears I can believe what I see on the Internet.
  10. Not just ex-Liverpool player but a former player who is noted as being a very proud supporter of the club. It's not just "I used to play here" it's "I have an emotional bond here" and I think that's so volatile. Much better to never manage there and appreciate them from a distance; or come in only after a line of managers have failed spectacularly and therefore have relatively subdued expectations I guess.
  11. I think Alonso has all the respect from this season that losing a lot of his talent at Leverkusen won't hurt him. Klopp left Dortmund at their nadir and walked into Liverpool. A rough season following this fantastic season would be attributed to circumstances beyond his control I suspect. Plus, given Madrid's reputation it wouldn't shock me if they already have a verbal agreement for him to make the move in the summer of 2025. I would confidently say that's the top job there is and if they're interested in you, then you take the opportunity to manage them. Especially since you get Mbappe now.
  12. I'm basically of the mindset that the only difference now is we're able to catch guys who are betting since how visible and above-board it all is. People were placing bets for years and we were none the wiser, now that culture has moved into more public waters and the same people are doing it but it's so easy to identify them.
  13. What happened in Oakland yesterday was my absolute fear of what John Angelos would manage to do with this team if he kept kicking the lease down the road and never let payroll get to a reasonable level. The rest of the owners just kinda letting him get away with it has been bad enough. Even at the absolute worst of the 2000s dark ages or after the 3rd 100-loss season in 2022, Opening Day has always been raucous in Baltimore. Even if you know the team sucks and by Memorial Day you'll already be counting down to football season, baseball being back is a celebration all its own. And John Fisher has managed to rip that joy away, incredible. Also - other gripe. Having Cleveland open their season on the west coast is shitty. Should've just flipped them and the Angels, so that their fans could easily watch the first game of the season live in the eastern time zone and then Angels fans wouldn't have to deal with a first pitch at noon.
  14. Important announcement: I am seated for a Major League Baseball regular season game. Baseball is back!!!
  15. I think the problem is if you do everything then you'll just get all these great cards (like you can clean up with adding top cards at the Gold Saucer). If you just play QB with the store bought decks and cards you win from the opponents it is likely a lot more balanced.
  16. In the club level, the Orioles have every team's team photo with the main player stats (batting avg, ERA, etc). They also have the two Commissioners Trophies (the '66 title was won before the trophy became a thing), and most of the individual awards won by players throughout the team's history. My dad and I were at a game where the rain caused a 90 minute delay last year and that was just enough time to get through all of it without stalling in spots. Everything else to do to pass time requires spending money. And at least Orioles games have backed off airing out of town games on the screen while we wait for our game to start (though maybe this will change under new ownership).
  17. Speaking of, I'm not sure what the late game QB looks like but right now in Chapter 10 the games are all cakewalks. Hoping there's some curveballs at the end of the road.
  18. It's very likely going to be a delayed start to the game tomorrow. Rain is expected to clear out around 3pm but they have pregame ceremonies on top of the time spent getting the field ready. It's fine though. I'll sit there waiting for a few extra hours if I have to.
  19. It's a decent possibility he gets that trophy on his first try too!
  20. Gongaga was brutal at times. It was really the area that felt the mostly flawed in terms of execution. However the core storyline part of that region was fantastic - the main part of this game just doesn't fucking miss.
  21. As of an hour ago the Orioles are no longer owned by the Angelos family. It's over. It's finally over.
  22. I saw Kvara went off injured in the 109th minute which, needless to say, is potentially huge. And would be unfortunate if he misses Euro, though still months off.
  23. I will not get invested in that show until I hear, years down the line, that they stuck the landing.
  24. Lamar Jackson played just a few series in the HOF game after we drafted him. And he was one of a handful of guys in that game who even had a shot at making the week 1 roster.
