  1. Take It Away is a great song. Have you heard Just A Little? It's on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse OST. On another The Used related note, does anyone have a bootleg of live 'Box Full of Sharp Objects' with Matt Davies from Funeral For A Friend?
  2. HIM I don't think they're great, and do generally hate fans who worship them as the best band ever, but a fair few of their tracks are quite listenable. A Perfect Circle I'm sick of people telling me they're a 'shit Tool'. Fucking geniuses. They're a less complex, less talented Tool, yes, but they're also a DIFFERENT BAND. The Used People always say 'Haha, j00 emo fagb0y!11!!!one!!!!11!!!' whenever I mention liking them. Do us all a favour and stop being so genre-ist At The Drive-In So many people tell me 'It's just stupid noise' whenever they're brought up in conversation. Listen more. Don't just comment. The Dillinger Escape Plan Fucking marvellous, but people just shit on them for, funnily enough the band shitting on them. Hah. The Mars Volta It's not 'just random guitar effects and sounds' as someone has said to me before, it's music, which is painstakingly crafted. To perfection Pearl Jam Pearl jam are probably my favourite ever band. Yet people say I shouldn't listen to them because I don't like other grunge bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden. Well so-rry. Nirvana were over-rated, and Soundgarden just never appealed. My Chemical Romance See: The Used
  3. The Crow Schindler's List The Butterfly Effect 'Lateralus' by Tool 'Ten' by Pearl Jam 'Yield' by Pearl Jam 'De-Loused In The Comatorium' by The Mars Volta 'Relationship Of Command' by At The Drive-In If we're including books, Stupid White Men by Michael Moore did too.

    The Darkness

Wow. Just fucking wow. Has anyone else caught them yet? Best live show I've ever been to. Ever. Started at 7, with first support band Do Me Bad Things. I'd heard a few of their singles before, but I wasn't prepared for the live show. They alternated lead singers a fair few times, and backing singers. The lead guitarist used his effects really well, while the rythm guitarist and bassist put their all into the show. Plus, myself and my mate were the only people you could hear singing along to 'Time For Deliverance' They were followed by Ash. I hate them on CD. Live however, they blew my expectations to pieces. They got the crowd involved, sounded good, and even threw in a great cover of 'Boys Are Back In Town'. Finally, there was The Darkness. They were amazing. Hundreds of pyros, and flamthrowers. All the old favourites, and a fair few new songs, which made a big impression on me. Water was given out often, and in large amounts. Justin got the crowd involved so well, even down to them making animal noises, just because he said to. Highlight was either the huge crowd surge due to 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love', Justin's 1 man cover of 'Lady In Red' using a keyboard/guitar hybrid, Justin riding above the crowd on a white tiger, during 'Love On The Rock With No Ice' or the 'Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)' encore. It was such a special show So, has anyone else caught them live on this tour? Or what do you think of them in general?
  6. Live @ Slane isn't available on CD. Just get Live @ Hyde Park if you haven't already. It's the better one in my opinion. More tracks. More variety. Just better in general
  7. The Brain of J.F.K. Given To Fly Wishlist Faithful In fact, screw it, just get Yield
  8. Josh Homme Matt Bellamy Dave Navarro Stone Gossard Daron Malakian My favourites though, and IMO two of the best in the world are John Frusciante and Omar Alfonso Rodriguez-Lopez.
  9. Lee Evans Jack Dee Toby Lee Lenny Henry Peter Kay Bradley Walsh Bill Bailey - You have to get something by him Jimmy Carr
  10. I'm gonna have to do two. My favourite ever, and my recent favourite. Always get more for your buck with me  Favourite Ever (Sorry The image is a little large.) Maynard James Keenan for me, created a large portion of the greatness behind Tool. Yes, the musicians behind him are more than capable, and are, infact rather damn good, but I just find myself mesmorized by nothing more than Maynard's voice. It's haunting. One moment it's the most peacful, becautiful thing you've ever heard, the next it's barking at you like you were a naughty child. Even in APC, he managed to become the focal point in the band, despite being one of the the most enigmatic people in the music business. Recent Favourite Gerard Way is one of the top upcoming vocalists. He switches between a scream and a heartfelt singing voice in between words, rather than lines. Every word he sings feels so heartfelt, and so personal. He makes it feel as though the song was written specifically for you. Makes it feel as though the song will only ever be heard by you, because he puts so much energy into each song, that it seems as though it may well be his last. Close Contenders: Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Claudio Sanchez, Randy Blythe

    Funk Rock

Can anyone recommend me some good funk rock bands, or maybe even specific tracks? To be honest, the only funk rock band that even springs to mind is RHCP. See, I've been offered a vocalist spot in a funk-rock band, but I don't know what they're looking for lyrically or what sort of style. Any help would be much appreciated
  12. Pearl Jam - Given To Fly Pearl Jam - Wishlist Pearl Jam - Black At The Drive-In - Pattern Against User At The Drive-In - Cosmonaut (Everyone should own this song in some shape or form ) The Mars Volta - Drunkship of Lanterns The Mars Volta - Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of) RHCP - Saviour RHCP - All Around The World The Cure - Lost
  13. Seeing as you already have some CoF, get 'Presents From The Poison Hearted' as well. Gets some Open:Hand. You should like them, looking at your list. ATD-I are a must. Not matter what CD. Although RoC is one of the best. And is it me, or wasn't Sparta the other band that came from ATD-I, as well as TMV, not McClusky? Random Recommendations: Johnny Cash - Hurt Lynrd Skynrd - Freebird The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again Omar Alfonso Rodriguez-Lopez - Deus Ex Machina. Infact, get his whole album. The Cure - Lost The Cure - Tonight The Cure - Lovesong The Smiths - How Soon Is Now? Just because they're great songs. 14. Been in one for about two years, but it's only recently getting serious. We're called "Empire Of" now. Been through many name changes. Me - Vocals - I try as much as poss. to sing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Don't really have one major singing influence, but my lyric styles fluctuate between The Cure and ATD-I. Tom Nolan - Lead Guitar - He's really good. Well happy with him in the band. Also a good friend of mine before the band. Plays a lot of Nirvana tinged stuff for the slower songs, and then goes different for livelier tracks. Likes 'punk'. (Not proper punk, but at least it is punk and not Pop-Punk) Tim Kostandinous - Rythm Guitar - He's OK. Might be getting replaced soon, as he's a cock. Aran Jenkinson - Bass - He's the band's protection. Huge guy. He's newish to playing bass. I can play better than him. But I can't do both at once ><. He plays using downward strumming, rather than upward strumming or picking, which I ain't happy about, but hey. Who cares. James 'Brown Sound' Andrews - Drums - Never seen a better drummer in my life. Guys twice his age couldn't keep up with his pace and stamina. Especially for a tiny guy. He's amazing We recently started putting some tracks together so at the minute we only have 'So Dead' and 'Tonight'. Covers wise, we've got 'Basket Case' (Tom's Choice), 'Otherside' (My Choice), 'Scar Tissue', 'Gay Bar', 'Get Free', 'Killing In the Name Of...', 'School's Out For Summer' and finally, 'Jealous Again'.
  15. Whatever I Find At The Drive-In The Mars Volta Pearl Jam The Smiths Kings Of Leon (Favourite Five Right Now)
  16. Wow, I really enjoyed reading that. Is this gonna be a regular thing, cause it should be Pearl Jam's Greatest Hits Yayayayayayay! Definately one to add to my collection
  17. Best bassline ever has to be 'Around The World' by RHCP. It's amazing, IMO. Honorable Mentions: Lovecats - The Cure Schism - Tool And more recently, I really like the bassline for 'What Became Of The Likely Lads?' by The Libertines

  20. I can appreciate Sum 41, as a lot of the people I know like them, and I agree, yes they do have a certain sellability, due to their catchiness, but at the same time, it's not like they haven't done it before. Sure, it may not be the exact riff, but say, for example, I changed a few notes in the opening riff to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. It's still a rip-off. Even though most riffs and the like have already been made, it's still possible to write a perfectly capable song, without it sounding so much like another popular song, that is can be called a rip-off. Besdies, SOAD > Sum 41. BTW, Thanks Grifter. Glad you like the name.
  21. Has anyone heard the new Sum 41 track? "We're All To Blame" I think it's called. If not, listen to it. OK, now listen to "Chop Suey" by SOAD. Hear the difference? No? It's because there isn't any. Am I alone in thinking this?
  22. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd Warning - Incubus Talk Shows In Mute - Incubus 11AM - Incubus Perfect Drug - NIN Backend Of Forever - Coheed & Cambria The Crowing - Coheed & Cambria Drunkship Of Lanterns - The Mars Volta (The Haunt Of) Roulette Dares - The Mars Volta Hourglass - At The Drive-In Cosmonaut - At The Drive-In Leverage of Space - RHCP My Friends - RHCP Soul To Squeeze - RHCP Saviour - RHCP Third Eye (Live) - Tool Opiate - Tool The Nurse Who Loved Me - APC Probably hundreds more, but I'm way too lazy to post them all right now.
