Excellent. Drags, you're a judge then Thanks. I take it you get the basics of what you're being asked to do? Any problems, just ask.

Right that'll do nicely for numbers This got a way better response than I expected. I'm away this weekend, so I am going to leave this open for more people to join. If people want some practice, I may be on MSN tonight - MarsVolta4Lyf@hotmail.com - so I'll judge if anyone wants an Exhibition match I may have to do this through e-mail dependant on circumstances. If that does happen, I'll explain how it'll work then. Brackets are as follows: RVDW vs ladydav DBD vs Jester Ash vs George Skum vs triplex Funk vs Gabriel Nien Numb vs Booker T EBD vs Verbal PRPete vs Reilly More will be added if nessecary. Again, please don't start getting rid of crappy music from your library, and don't lie. A judge could be handy. If anyone wants to make a graphic for the brackets, that could be handy too, but if not, meh. Thanks.

Cool. That's enough people to do one bracket. I need at least 8 realistically, although the more the merrier. I'll be a member of the panel, and another one or two would be handy. Is MSN or AIM better for people? I don't do Yahoo! so it could be handy to find a judge who does . PM's could be done too. Even e-mail, lol.

The premise is simple. Battles between people to see who has the best music taste. 32 People enter (Less if we can't get them. Brackets are drawn out. 1 on 1 battles. A judge from the panel adjudicates the battle. Both people press random on either their Winamp or iPod or Music Player Thing. Write out what song comes out. The judge - who should be impartial to personal taste - decides who wins on which song is better. Yes, opinion can be different, but there is bad music, and there is good music, let's face it. For instance, The Smiths would beat Milli Vanilli. First to 5 points wins the battle. Winner goes through to the next round. Repeat process until a Tournament Winner is decided. So, enterants and judges are needed. Just apply in here. Of course, if this does fall flat on it's face, then at least I tried. I can also see why this may be moved to Forum Games, but I think it belongs in here more. It's not a game per say, more of a 'competition', if you will. I don't think it'll get the exposure needed in Forum Games either. So, like I say, I need TRUSTWORTHY entrants and IMPARTIAL judges. The more the merrier. Any takers?
  5. Eriatarka - The Mars Volta The whole of FTM - The Mars Volta No One Knows - QOTSA Ticks & Leeches - Tool
  6. Isn't HBMS some production/beats team with Dan The Automater in it? Who's the other guy, I forget. I really wanna get hold of A Day In The Life Now Cedric = Musical Gold
  7. OK. Fucking wow. I've now heard enough of Frances The Mute to compare it to DITC and IMO it blows it out of the water. i've never heard such a brilliant album. All the tracks have memorable lines, and memorable instrumental parts. Everything comes to shape perfectly. The orchestral arragements add tons of depth to the songs and everything just syncs together perfectly. Personal favourite tracks would have to be Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus, L'Via L'Viaquez, Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Any More and Cassandra Geminni (I've heard The Widow too many times to enjoy it too much at the moments )
  8. BSSM is flawed. They say it themselves. It starts off excellent, I must say, and up until about Blood Sugar Sex Magic (The track), it is the greatest, but I don't really rate anything after that track. Personally, I prefer Californication, but even that is flawed. A few of the songs sound a bit samey, it's more commercial, and there isn't as much of Flea's sound, if that makes sense. Personally, I will go on record as to saying 'De-Loused In The Comatorium' is my personal favourite CD, and therefore my personal Greatest Album Ever. Every song relates, yet is completely different. Actually, scrap that, they're not songs. They're landscapes. I haven't yet heard Frances The Mute enough to compare it, but DITC is so goddamn amazing I'm not sure it will compare. Another factor to consider is that DITC is their debut. To be able to produce a masterpiece like that as your debut? I hope they go on a lot longer, and we hear a lot more from them Just my opinion though....

AC/DC - Not heard enough of to give opinion Slayer - Fucking awesome Metallica - There's only about four tracks I actually like Megadeth - No. Pantera - Some stuff is better than other Iron Maiden - Great partying music Def Leppard - Hate Led Zeppelin - Good, but over-rated. Then again I've only heard the odd tracks and How The West Was Won The Beatles - I hate them. I just can't get into them. The Who - Me likee Elvis Presley - Over-rated Papa Roach - Newer stuff is actually really good Limp Bizkit - Meh Linkin Park - Hate, but not completely Korn - Older stuff is great Deftones - Never really got into Meat Loaf - Good Arch Enemy - Love Gossow's voice is amazing In Flames - Never really heard Soilwork - What I have heard is great Opeth - People keep telling me to listen to them. I may well do. Sometime. Distillers - Over-rated, for what they are. If Brody were male, they wouldn't even be known. If Brody didn't have that relationship with Tim Armstrong, they wouldn't be as well known. Meshuggah - Never really heard much Dillinger Escape Plan - Love their new album. Need older stuff. Fear Factory - Don't like. Tool - Amazing band, so deep and different. A Perfect Circle - Tool Lite. But still good. Massive Attack - Great to sleep to. Very weird dreams. Chemichal Brothers - Like their more commercial stuff. Van Halen - DLR = Stage God REM - Music to complain to. Nirvana - Over-rated, but enjoyable. RHCP - I love them. Words can't describe. Only song I hate by them is By The Way. Soundgarden - Haven't really heard enough. Alice In Chains - Great. Them Bones is my personal favourite. Manowar - Never heard Pearl Jam - My personal favourite band. Never disliked a track. Never gotten tired of a track. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie is still one of my favourite albums of all time. Mastodon - Don't like. Not all they're cracked up to be. Audioslave - Songs get very repetitive, very quickly. Guns And Roses - Few tracks. Again, over-rated. Velvet Revolver - Slither = Greatness. Everything else I've heard = Poor GnR/STP mix. Muse - Some good tracks. Some is just fiddly, pointless crap. Ash - Amazingly good live. On CD? Naff. The Killers - Over-rated, but happy, happy music. Machine Head - Great Davidian = Classic Marilyn Manson - Some good stuff, some not so. Golden Age Of Grotesque was such a letdown. Emperor - Not heard enough of. Need more. Sepultura - Don't really like too much. Faith No More - Very good, but I NEED MORE It's hard for me to get hold of music. My friends suck and I'm poor U2 - Meh. '1,2,3,14' = The funniest moment in music of recent memory. Libertines - Over-rated. System Of A Down - Love every album. Yes, even Steal This Album. Joy Division - Haven't heard enough of. Want to. The Smiths - J'Adore. Enjoyable, and happy, yet depressing. The Streets - Bollocks. Morrissey - The Man. Foo Fighters - Great band. Almost under-rated. Mars Volta - So amazing is doesn't even begin to register. Intircate details in every song. So what if the words mean nothing without knowing the story. The emotions there.. Snoop Dogg - My 2nd favourite rapper. Eminem - Older stuff was better. Ja Rule - Not for me. Jay-Z - My favourite rapper. The Black Album wasn't out of my stereo for months. Tupac - Meh. Eric Clapton - Layla is a classic. Don't really like the other stuff I've heard. Norah Jones - Great, relaxing music. Bob Dylan - Not heard enough. Nine Inch Nails - Great music. Different feeling to each song. Different textures. David Gray - Eugh. Jeff Buckley - Not heard. Tom Waits - Good. Depche Mode - I have to say, I do like them occasionally. Nightwish - Meh. Lacuna Coil - Me like. Plus Scabbia = V.V. Hot New Order - Hate them. My Dying Bride - Never heard them. Coldplay - Okay sometimes. Not usually, but occasionally. Keane - One of the better Indie bands. Stone Temple Pilots - Didn't really get into them. Bush - Haven't heard enough. HIM - I actually enjoy some of their songs. Most people hate them though. I can see why. I don't get why they seem to win so many awards. Slipknot - Great band, great live show. The Clash - Don't really like. The Sex Pistols - Great band for writing quite catchy, but different songs. Green Day - Hate them. NOFX - Hate them - except Bob. Rancid - Hate them Beastie Boys - Like some stuff, not other stuff. Notorious B.I.G - Never really heard RATM - Good band. Not great. But very good. 36 Crazyfists - Good enough to listen to. Killswitch Engage - Great band, with some great songs. But some are bollocks. Numbered Days is my personal favourite.
  16. Dan Druff....Rex Everything was better....[/Oliveri Markage] How subtle are these cameos? And what's the video like? And BT&TMG's, have you got/can you get hold of a track listing?
  17. I've just heard the new QOTSA single on the radio - 'Little Sister' - and have heard their song from the NFSU:2 soundtrack - 'In My Head' - and now I want more. Anyone got any details on the new album? Dates? All I know is that it's called Lullabies To Paralyse. Anyone else heard these tracks, or more? Thoughts? And what do you think about their new bassist 'The Wolf'? Not as good as Oliveri....

    Fightstar

I've only heard their new single 'Palanhuik's (sp?) Laughter' and I actually think it's pretty good. Way better than anything Busted ever did. It's not the best track ever or anything, but, like I say, it is pretty good. There's a hundred bands out there doing it better then they are, but hey. Anyone else heard anything from them? If so, what'd ya think?
  19. Best openers: 'Third Eye' - Tool - 'Salival' Just fucking wow. Epic. Thought-provoking. A real punch to the face. 'Brain Of JFK' - Pearl Jam - Yield Hits you hard and fast. It's great Best closers: 'Take The Veil, Cerpin Taxt' - The Mars Volta - De-loused In The Comatorium Perfect. Another epic, yet one that makes perfect sense, storyline-wise. 'All Those Yesterdays' - Pearl Jam - Yield Soft, yet hard. Emotional. Makes you think. I love it
  20. Tool - Salival. There is no fucking other to compare. It brings out every emotion, every confusion, every thought....everything you've ever contemplated in your mind is brought out by the performance, and the sheer depth. Pushit = Pure Fucking Brilliance. No Quarter = Good....God....
  21. D is a good letter... Deftones Dillinger Escape Plan, The Darkness, The Dead Kennedys Doves, The Dragonforce Drive-In, At The Datsuns, The Drowning Pool Damned, The Defacto Desert Sessions DevilDriver Demon Hunter Dimebag Darrell Damageplan Distillers, The Dimmu Borgir
