Hornets are playing some great basketball. I expected them to slip down the East with the loss of Lin, Lee and Jefferson, but they've been terrific.

Jonathan Simmons GOAT. Aldridge and Pau's defense has been really frustrating at points, but the bench unit is so strong and athletic and the Spurs are moving a lot faster than last year. I'm loving it so far. EDIT: Simmons with the rejection on Curry!

Never said that Tony Snell was consistent. But even on his worst nights, he had some iota of a 3-point game, which Carter-Williams doesn't. Regardless, MCW is a good defender, so that should make up for Rondo's shortcomings, I guess?

If the starting PG was a shooter, I'd call Snell for former ROTY Carter-Williams a huge win, but yeah I don't get bringing in another PG not known for his perimeter shooting. Snell didn't amount to much, but he could be relied on to shoot. It seems like the Bulls are going to rely solely on McDermott and Mirotic for consistent 3-point shooting.

Loved last night's Atlanta. The format was jarring at first, but I quickly warmed to it. I thought the cereal commercial was brilliant.

1. Just roamed through the most popular at the time (which was quite a while ago). Just looked it up now by searching "supersonics". On page 97 it showed up, created by pas321. I spotted it because there's a Seattle patch on the left side of the jersey and a pretty big NBA logo on the right like they were styled in the 90s. Not sure if that helps at all. The other team I downloaded was the Kansas City Apaches. Unrelated, but their team consists of KAT, Ben Simmons, Julius Randle, Thon Maker, Marcus Smart and basically every other good rookie/sophmore 2. I play MyGM/League regularly sometimes, but most of the time I play with Fantasy Draft on, meaning the entire game roster is drafted to (likely) new teams. I just find it really fun to see where everyone winds up. I as the Sonics got the 11th pick and since I put the draft as fixed, I got to pick Lillard, then Okafor, Ibaka, so on and so forth.

I feel so much more freedom this year in regards to how your player moves. I've dabbled with MyCareer a bit, but have mostly been playing MyGM with my SuperSonics squad (Lillard, Okafor, Ibaka, Evan Turner, Danny Green, Jennings, Varejao, Thomas Robinson, Ariza and Roberson). The P&R is so much more fun now, and I've had a blast having Dame come off Okafor's screens and nail an off-the-dribble three-pointer. Last year it felt impossible to hit off-the-dribble shots, even with people like Jamal Crawford who excel at those shots at mid range, but this year it feels fluid and fun to do. Basically the freedom, off-the-dribble shots, and new rebounding/tip-in controls are making this my favorite 2K so far.

Khris Middleton tore his hamstring and will be out for six months. Big loss for the Bucks. In other news, the Lakers signed Metta World Peace and Thomas Robinson to 1-year deals. Really like the addition of Robinson, but with Randle, Mozgov, Nance, Black, Jianlian, etc. there are way too many bigs on the squad.

MyGM with the expansion teams (including teams you can download from 2K/user created) is really really fun. My first save was with a revived SuperSonics team. Whoever made it did an excellent job on the court and the jerseys. My only issues so far are cosmetic, specifically the body types. The skinny body works for Durant and Ingram but not for Greek Freak, Curry, Wiggins, etc.

A little earlier than last year, but with NBA 2K17 released early on Friday (officially out today), I've got basketball on the mind. Off-season news: - Kevin Durant joined Golden State, making their starting line-up more dangerous, but hurting their bench depth. - Russell Westbrook re-upped with OKC, now the franchise player for the Thunder. As well, Serge Ibaka was traded away to Orlando for Victor Oladipo, a young player on the rise. - Tim Duncan and Amar'e Stoudemire are now retired. - Dwyane Wade joined the Chicago Bulls, as did Rajon Rondo. - Everyone got paid crazy money in Free Agency. - O.J. Mayo was dismissed from the league for violating the drug policy, but will be eligible for reinstatement in two years. - Most recently Giannis Antetokounmpo re-upped with Milwaukee on a 4-year, $100 M deal while JR Smith and Cleveland are still in limbo on contract negotiations.
