Oh but the real annoying thing is there's this pretty big creation setup with all sorts of cool, different gear but no matter what you choose your person gets stuck in the UFC Reebock stuff so it's pointless to use any of it outside for first 3 or 4 non UFC fights and training. Edit: Ohhhh. There are different ways to the UFC. I won in with the contender series. I could have fought elsewhere.

Good so far. Not much different than 3 at this point though. It has all sorts of little improvements and a little backstory with your coach. You still get to the UFC way too fast. You'd think with the back yard and Kumite arenas there'd be some stuff with those at the start.

So UFC 4 is super fun. The new controls take some getting used to but you're able to change them back to old style of you don't want to. I love how smooth and rapid strikes in the clinch are now. In 3 throwing knees looked like your fighter had concrete boots on. Now you can get in 3 or 4 in the same time. Same with uppercuts. Power Takedowns needing an extra button press to complete the slam is cool because you have a small window where you can carry the opponent where you want them. I've had some wonky looking stoppages where I very clearly just punched the opponent's forearms instead of his face or head but he still goes limp for a knockout. They also still look weird with your side just stopping because The refs don't actually dive in to stop it still. The new submission system is far easier to use and way less infuriating. You don't have to have max boosted stats to get a choke or block a Kimura attempt anymore.

I love X-Men and Spider-Man crossing over. Kitty and Peter as a couple was a fun twist.

Man, you can tell that Ultimatum was just sprung on the writers. Ultimate X-Men had just made good on the build to Phoenix, merging it and Jean and giving her the powers to turn back time, undo death and alter reality. She's doing all that right up until the issue where the wave hits. They don't have time to get rid of her powers properly so it's just "Oh, the Phoenix is gone now. I was unworthy." .

UFC 4 comes out tomorrow and I am hyped.

How are you meant to pronounce Storm's first name?

I'm guessing it's in Ultimate Marvel Team-Up 14: Spider-Man and Black Widow. I just get that with Google. I haven't read the Team Up books since my very first Ultimate Marvel read years ago.

My favorite "What If?" I've thought of reading comics is what if the good Magneto from the Marvel Zombie Universe didn't have to stay behind and die but Instead escaped to the Ultimate Universe with Ultimate Reed Richards. How woud he impact the X-Men and The Brotherhood in that Universe?

In Ultimates the incest comes up. That's what I mean. In Ultimate X-Men they're pretty much the same as 616 just younger and less confident. In Ultimates they're these standoffish, snooty weirdos that only really like each other with SW having her head in the clouds and QS being overly aggressive. They start banging because Magneto had them in the Savage Land with him in the planning stages when there was no one else really and he ran Charles off. Magneto constantly cutting down QS drove him to the only person that loved him, his sister. Though there is a hint that it might not be incest because SW might be Wolverine's kid. Cap wasn't really an asshole, he just had a hard time adjusting and had a temper. He's shown as trying his hardest to not judge people by his old standards and be the hero. He's just not perfect like 616. Hank and Jan were in an abusive and toxic relationship. They beat the fuck out of each other till Hank went too far and hospitalized her after setting his ants on her when she shrunk. This actually makes far more sense than the 616. Instead of him being the devil for life to the other Avengers for backhanding her once years ago there's a real reason for life long ostracization. Hawkeye and Widow are government hitmen. Tony is a rich drunk dying of brain cancer that wants to fix what he can in the world before he goes. I really enjoy Ultimates 1 and 2. 3 takes a dive.

The characterization of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch is far different in Ultimate X-Men than what it is in The Ultimates.

Anybody playing Predator Hunting Grounds? First game in forever that makes me want to give PSN money so I can play it online. I'm between doing that and just putting money up for UFC 4.

Weird. I can't find books with the character search for Ultimate Reed Richards/The Maker after the Ultimate heroes beat him right after he turned. The books are there, I can look them up on wiki and find them by title but they're not on Reed's character tab and there's not a separate one for The Maker.

I know some people who'll love this but I need the clock to roll back more. All my nostalgia is wrapped up in the Tech-TV era. You put Martin Sargent back on my TV and I'll watch.
