  1. DOA is a game that I'd only play if I wanted to fuck around. The game is not good for tournament/competitive play. ←
  2. What the fuck is a ruby leg? And also, there was a major league team in Providence back in the 1800s. Did it disband or something? ←
  3. Regarding the DOA series, I'm mad that its X-Box exclusive. I have DOA2 Hardcore for my PS2, though. That game is pretty cool, because all of the characters have mega-cheap moves. Not just a few of them. But Gen Fu tends to be MEGA-cheap and Kasumi and Hayabusa are a pain in tag mode, if you're playing against the computer. I usually play as Bayman and Tina if I play in tag mode, for one reason: One of their team moves is....*Joey Styles scream*TOTAL ELIMINATION!!!!* But if I play solo, I usually use Bass, Bayman or Helena.
  4. Actually, Paul Phoenix is the cheesiest. Because of the Deathfist attack, which can do mega-damage with one hit. Jin is the cheesiest when it comes to full combat, although I'd say in TTT, True Ogre is.
  5. They actually held a Tekken World Championship, and the person who won used Paul Phoenix (I think it was playing Tekken 3, but I could be wrong). He apparently doesn't use the Deathfist, either. Not sure how he pulled it off, because I couldn't see anyone winning with Paul if they face someone just as good using Gunjack, Law, Lee, Lei, or Jin WITHOUT having to Deathfist. The only times I ever lost a fight to another player who was using Paul, I was using Bryan Fury or King (only lost to Paul ONCE as King, and that was because they Deathfisted me - I was about 2 hits away from beating them). Using any of the characters mentioned above, I usually fuck up Paul bigtime. Anyone good using Heihachi should wipe the floor with someone using Paul, too. (I only use Heihachi if I'm playing TTT - I like doing the Headlock attack or the Powerbomb, then switching characters)
  6. I haven't looked for any info on Tekken 5. Are Eddie or Christie in it, or the female character who looked like a Laura Croft rip-off? And for the record, Steve Fox sucked. No matter what character I used, I always beat him pretty easy when I played Tekken 4 (in the arcades - the only Tekken game I own is TTT for my PS2). Anyone know if King kills Marduk in T4 if he beats him, since Marduk killed Armor King?
  7. Countering the blatant advert for the e-fed that Wrestling_Man did: http://dhw2.0catch.com/main.html
  8. "One Man Riot" is good, but.... How about: Iron John Harrison Johnny `Jerkenstein' Harrison Heavy Duty Harrison (or `Heavy Duty' Johnny Harrsion) Anarchy Superstar
  9. Rick Savage, from Def Leppard. Or Cliff Burton, from Metallica.
  10. Regarding basketball, the Utah Jazz were originally in New Orleans. Hence the Jazz nickname that makes no sense. Baseball: Milwaukee Brewers - Their first year of existence, they were in Seattle, and were called the Seattle Pilots. (Yes, they moved after only one year!!!) Minnesota Twins - The Minnesota Twins were originally the Washington Senators. In the 1960 or 61, they moved, and a new Washington Senators franchise debuted. Texas Rangers - The second Washington Senators team. Moved sometime in the early `70's. Football: Besides the Raiders.... Arizona Cardinals were originally in Chicago (yes, Chicago had two football teams at one point), then moved to St. Louis, then to Arizona. The Kansas City Chiefs were originally called the Dallas Texans, iirc. Think they moved after only 1 or 2 years. The Indianapolis Colts were originally in Baltimore. The St. Louis Rams moved from Cleveland, Ohio to St, Louis, Missouri, then to Los Angeles, California. The Baltimore Ravens are technically the REAL Cleveland Browns franchise. They made an agreement that let Cleveland get a new franchise when they moved, and the current Browns are actually an expansion team that just has the same exact name and uniforms. Some people look at the Ravens as an expansion team that just had the same owner as the Browns. Other see the Browns as the expansion team. Me? I don't care either way. The Houston Oilers moved to Nashville, Tennessee, then became the Tennessee Titans a season or two later. (iirc, they actually played some of their early home games in Memphis, splitting time between there and Nashville while their stadium was being built) Incidentally, Titans was either the nickname of a New York team that proceeded the Jets, or the original name of the Jets. I'm not sure which, but either the team or the nickname only lasted a few years.
  11. Well, that sucks for the Hockey fans, but I can't say I'd be surprised. On the other hand, I would dearly love for Golf, Hockey and Tennis to get the fuck off my tv, so....
  12. I'd rather see..... Freddy vs. Jason vs. CHUDs or Freddy vs. Jason vs. Jaws (that would be one...interesting movie) or Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ghostbusters or Freddy vs. Jason vs. Robocop or Freddy vs. Jason vs. X-Men .....than Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
  13. There are only two things wrong with Xenosaga, no matter what Gongsun says: 1. They shouldn't have cast Sherry Lynn to do Momo's voice, because its weird hearing Sasami from Tenchi Muyo in the game. 2. The end boss is a total wuss. With or without using Erde Kaiser on it.
  14. Depends on what kind of manga you think you'd like. I'm reading a few of the mangas put out by Tokyopop at the moment. Gate Keepers is one I highly recommend. Its sort of a sci-fi type series, with the heroes being a teenage guy and a few teenage girls, and there is a giant robot, but so far it hasn't been used much, and only the guy pilots it, iirc. There have only been 2 volumes released so far, I think. I'm also reading one called Pita-Ten, which is sort of a romantic comedy (it only says Romance on the back cover, but trust me, its comedic at times) about a teenage guy who is being....pursued by two girls. One claims to be an angel, and the other is.....well, not human, either. Its by the creator of Digi Charat, so its got cutesy type artwork. There are 5 volumes so far. Also, if you're a fan of Cowboy Bebop, pick up the manga! Its a lot different than the anime (the way Ed joins the crew is different in the manga than it is in the anime, for one thing). There are two different series out right now: Cowboy Bebop and Cowboy Bebop Shooting Star. Not sure on the # of volumes, though. In case you don't already know, true manga is read right to left, and the covers are reversed. (Ie, what is the back cover on a normal book or magazine is the front cover on manga, so it opens the opposite direction) And most manga is black and white.
  15. *Skip this post, if you haven't already heard who the new members are going to be after this storyline is over and don't what to know yet, because I'm posting spoilers here!* I sort of agree with Heel Turn about the Avengers. I am not in favor of the new line-up, because, quite frankly, Wolverine doesn't belong anywhere near the Avengers, and Jessica Drew sucks. There's no point in having a female rip-off of Spider-Man on the same team as the real deal, and Luke Cage has the detective angle covered, so she's easily replaced. Bendis said she's on the roster because she's one of his favorite characters. And rumor is, Wolverine either won't be a long term member, or at least won't be going on every mission. (Ie, they're using him to boost sales) I want Spider-Woman and Wolverine off the roster. (Besides, iirc, Jessica Drew lost her powers. How are they going to explain her regaining them?) When Bendis leaves the book, I hope Spider-Woman either loses her powers or gets killed off. However, I have to disagree about Spider-Man being on the team. Ever since he joined as a reservist back in #235-236, I've wanted to see him on the active roster, instead of just being used for quick sales boosts and stories where everyone who has ever been an Avenger and isn't currently taking a dirt nap is brought in. Spidey has proven he can be a team player. Plus, he can take Hank Pym's place as the team's scientist and Hawkeye's as the lighthearted guy on the roster. Besides, the interaction between Spider-Man and Captain America and Spider-Man and Wolverine will be interesting, if you've ever read any stories where they've teamed up before. I'm not too sure that putting Sentry on the team is a good idea, either, because he was meant to be a parody of Superman. I'll have to reserve judgement, but I'd rather have seen an already established character or a completely brand new taking up that roster slot instead. She Hulk would have been a good choice, I think. One thing I find disturbing: Word is that the Iron Man on the team may not be Tony Stark. I sure as hell hope it isn't Jim Rhodes, as there's no reason I can see Rhodey ever becoming Iron Man again. I hope its one of two swerves: either Tony's ex-girlfriend Bethany Cabe in the armor (don't laugh; she wore the post Silver Centurion armor in #300, when Tony called in a bunch of his friends to armor up and help him take down Ultimo), so its really an Iron Woman; or a more advanced LMD (Life Model Decoy - basically a robot duplicate developed by Stark for S.H.I.E.L.D. to use - in the past Tony has used an LMD that could switch from Stark to Iron Man on a couple of occasions). Or maybe Clayton Wilson, aka the former villain Force, who reformed and is ally of Tony's. *Spoilers over* (Just be glad that Austen won't be writing the book anymore. Jan and Clint romantically involved?! Yeah, right! The man doesn't know the meaning of the word continuity, and apparently never bothers to research characters' pasts when he writes an established title)
  16. One piece of advice: At least get the Livin' Large and House Party expansions, if you have the hard drive space. I've got the game and all the expansions through Superstar. But I got bored with it, and deleted it off my hard drive a few months back. (I'd also recommend getting Hot Date, because it adds a Downtown area to the game)
  17. I'm a major Godzilla fan, myself. The Tri-Star Godzilla, which is often referred to as GINO (Godzilla In Name Only) was more of a Beast From 20,000 Fathoms remake than anything. Incidentally, I don't call it GINO. I call it Fraudzilla. And if you haven't seen Godzilla 2000, they sort of make mention of GINO at the beginning. So apparently it takes place in the same universe as that movie. Btw, if anyone hasn't been keeping up with the news about Godzilla: Final Wars, which comes out in Japan around Christmastime, its sort of a new version of Destroy All Monsters, using the monsters from the 60's and 70's movies and a new one called Monster X. There's no MechaGodzilla in it, and there *may* be a Ghidorah variation in it. But it won't be King Ghidorah, apparently. Its also going to be the last new Godzilla movie for at least 5 years.
  18. Yeah, I heard about this set for a while. Btw, have you heard about the twist involving Monster X in the upcoming Godzilla: Final Wars yet? B)
  19. And I can just see all the Canadian players having Bret Hart kick the shit out of HBK over and over and over and over and over and over again! Hmmmm......no Miss Jackie or Lita. I'm surprised.
