  1. God dammnit! Won the Light Heavyweight title after taking my time, working my way through the lower rankings, then after ONE defence, I lose it. No matter, I'll just work harder. Spar a lot, improve my stats, rematch for the title, this time I dominate and win. Then, in my first defence, I lose to Shogun, who I've beaten a MILLION times without any trouble, after he locks on a fucking arm bar out nowhere. ARGH!
  2. Finally got my first submission victory this morning on the UFC demo. Hell yes! I'll be getting this as soon as I can find enough rubbish to trade in against the price. I've heard there are some brilliant parts, but they're off-set by some pretty major flaws. Can anyone enlighten me on that?
  3. Looking forward to the pics of Johansson as Black Widow coming out. Bet it ends up becoming a huge deal.
  4. Not really. You've hit "the slump". Quality definately dips at around that point, and doesn't come back up again for a couple of books. However, the most recent ones have been awesome, with some great storyline twists. I'd advise you to hang in there, but the next couple aren't that great.
  5. Didn't THQ say they made everyone look extra muscle-y because that's how WWE and the wrestlers themselves wanted to look in-game? I'd rather it be photo-realistic too, but don't count on it! Extra attires would be damn near impossible with the models they use now, they're just too complex. But I agree, two attires for every wrestler would be great. Decent attires as well, not zombie Finlay and Santino or a Chris Jericho costume he hasn't used in five years.
  6. I'm hoping that's roughly what it'll be. Although actually, I'm almost certain the "It's your world now" is just the return of GM mode, or some form of it. I'd love the ability to actually customise everything, be able to "design" my own arenas, my own titantron videos etc. Of course all the fanboys are ranting and raving about how it must mean wrestlers attires are changeable, which is obviously near enough impossible. I'm unsure how the game could get any MORE customisable. In the last game we could alter movesets, entrances, custom music, rosters, stables, heel/face dynamic/create a finisher etc. I struggle to see what else it could add. Sure it's just a "new" version of GM mode, in which case, colour me underwhelmed.
  7. Well, the last one was definately better than the one before it. So..... that's.... sort of true.
  8. Would have thought there'd be a thread for this already. Here we go. So, the rumour is the "This is your world" tag line the game has been given means that the entire game is fully customisable. That's the rumour, though no solid information just yet. There's supposed to be a THQ interview at some point today giving a few more details, however. EDIT: Here's the teaser trailer unveiled at E3. Not really anything interesting, no information at all really. E3 Teaser
  9. Spoiler: Click here to viewWhat me and my friend were arguing about afterwards was: Does Skynet know Kyle Reese is John Connor's father? Is that why he was the primary target? If they do, we couldn't figure out how they knew that. The only people who know are John Connor, and possibly Kate Connor. If they DON'T know Reese is Connor's father, why is he the number 1 target? To lure Connor to Skynet City, seemingly. But how do the machines know there is even a connection between Reese and Connor? All we could come up with is police records from when Reese was arrested in The Terminator, but it seems an awfully big leap of faith for Skynet to go: Hey, there was a Kyle Reese then, and we know of one now! Let's get him just in case they send him back in time. I really enjoyed the film.I don't get the complaints. To anyone who hasn't seen the film: In the first 10/15 mins Connor gets onto a helicopter. Watch the camera work during the next few minutes. Fucking astonishing. By far the best thing in the movie.

    Milo

    ......... That's scripted surely.
  11. I really, really hope Marvel have done something really bold, and Steve Rogers never comes back. Can some characters in comic books just stay dead please? For once?
  12. I'm reading it now. It starts with a massive gathering of the Justice League, which is a bit too much Fantastic Four for me. Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Aquaman. And a giant green Lantern-conjured gorilla. I'll update as I read. EDIT: Dick retired as Nightwing after an innocent woman was killed while he tried to protect her. A coma!? Come on! Dick tries to save a woman deliberately put in danger by Selina Kyle, and gets hit by a car and ends up in a coma for two years. Interesting twist, Joker pleads guilty to Batman's murder. Promising. A race between Superman and The Flash in a olympic stadium? Why? Heroin spelt wrong. A little thing, but it niggles. This is decent, but it has the feel of a live action JLA cartoon. The script needs a real polish and a declutter, it's worse than Spider-Man 3 at the moment. Gordon's an alcoholic. Not sure why. Seems an attempt to ramp up the "darkness" factor for no real needed. The contrast of dark (heroin addicts, Gordon's addiction, escalating hostilities between the US and China) and the light (Dick and his daughter, the Flash/Superman race) just jars. They seem like scenes from entirely different movies. Barbara Gordon WAS paralysed, but "recovered". See, that makes no sense. Don't reference the continuity if you've already undone it. It has no need other than to crowbar it into the script. Halfway through, still to find any reason for a two year coma other than providing a "training montage" as Dick learned to walk again. But since he's now doing another training montage (balancing on jungle gyms, running etc) to get back into shape for crime fighting, it serves no purpose. Cluttered and repetitive, it's just too much for not much reason. Alfred arrives to hand over Bruce's estate to Dick. This has taken two and half years to do, since Batman died. I know Alfred is meant to be nearly 90 in this film, but would he not have done this earlier? Alfred also just used the line "You'll know when the time is right". So Dick's given a bunch of gadgets. It's like they just remembered to throw in some forshadowing for dramatic effect. It jars and really doesn't feel natural. It feels like they went to batcave just for this to happen. There was also a clumsy "You can't even ride a horse" line earlier. Bet he does. The Riddler is well written, probably the best written character so far. However, The Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Harvey Dent are overkill, even when used in cameos. Ahhh, the woman accidentaly killed by Dick was Jason Todd's mother. Dick introduced Jason to Bruce. Batman, Robin and Nightwing work together as a team for awhile before Jason is killed. Neat twist. I don't understand how they depart from the canon in a way that makes sense and is interesting like this, and then stick to the comics when it really doesn't make any sense. This could do with a major polish from a professional. The script isn't bad, but it doesn't have any mainstream appeal at all. At the moment, it'd be best made into an animated spin off, like Batman of the Future. Joker escapes from Arkham. However, he's 72 in this script. Is he really a threat at this point? It's fairly clear he didn't kill Batman, so as far as this film is concerned the worst thing he did was murder Jason Todd, which was about 10 years ago. If you don't know the story, there's no threat. We're meant to feel concerned just because it's Joker, but that kind of name recognition just feels lazy and wasted. Ooh, Joker kidnaps Dick's daughter. That's more like it. Dick survives a helicopter crash. Right. The Flash is also a major douche in this script. .......a douche, but he doesn't deserve to be torched by Dick. Ouch. Bit much. Joker's cave has loads of traps and a white tiger with green stripes. He's been in Arkham for three years. Did he pay a house sitter? Dick fights and kills the tiger, entirely off screen. I understand the need for low budget and the fact you need to find ways to deal with this, but would that sort of cut not piss the audience off, especially at this point in the movie? Catwoman's now a good guy? After working for the villain, breaking into Arkham, and indirectly causing Dick to be in a coma for two and half years? And her first act of heroism is to RUN OVER Wonder Woman? What!? "Republican bitch" is a good comeback though. Superman vs Green Lantern. Now there's a good smackdown. Oh, and Dick's now riding a horse. Surprise! This kind of thing works WHEN IT FEELS NATURAL! This doesn't, at all. A lion and a giant green elephant? So much for the careful budgeting. Oh, excellent, a trapeze based finale. Just what every great superhero movie needs. Wow. Gordon killed Batman. It was an accident, but he killed him. Good twist. Not sure it really rings true to the character, but it's a nice ending. Different. Barbara Gordon, dressed as Batgirl, saves the day! ........and an ambiguous, unhappy ending? Eh? So, Superman doesn't die after all. Impressions: A decent script. The guy who wrote it clearly knows what he's doing, but this script is crying out for a second person's opinion. It's just full of ideas and screams of a script that has been retooled and rejigged until it doesn't really make any sense any more. It needs decluttered, a better finale, LOTS less characters. I don't even think it needs the Justice League. Superman fits, but since he never really has any conflict with Robin and just spends the film doing what he is told by the Government he doesn't come off well. Having said that, none of the characters do: Robin: Is wrong about every lead he follows up. Jim Gordon: Batman's murderer and consumed by guilt, turning to alcoholism. Barbard Gordon: Does nothing but tell Dick she's going to leave him, the whole film. Batman: Is dead. Joker: Confesses to a crime he didn't commit, then is killed by a trapeze wire related accident. Seriously. Superman: Very similar to his portrayal in Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns. So, he does what the Government tells him, and is tortured by the death of Lois. We never find out what happened to Lois. In DKR's Superman obeys authority in order to maintain his anonimity, and that of the people he loves. Here? Well, he never gives a reason. The JLA are puppets for the US government, with no reason given. Anyway, lengthy analysis. I'd give the script **, IF it was done perfectly. I'm probably being generous.
  13. Green Lantern This actually looks good. It's very, very well made, and spot on casting! Made me wonder if anyone has seen these before, or if there are any more out there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiZuvJ48MZ0: As good as it looks, I just can't get excited for a Robin movie. Any other great trailers out there? I know of a few more, but after the truly dreadful ones I've just sat through, I can't take looking for them right now.
  14. I think one of the problems in Heroes is that the writers seem to feel like they have a loyalty to the cast, so are very reluctant to kill off any of the characters. I was floored when Nathan's throat was slit, only for them to undo it moments later. It does mean when Sylar figures out who he is, Nathan will be "dead" for good, but it'll have lost all of the impact that Nathan's sudden death had. Nathan's death added a good, solid emotional impact to the series finale. It just seems a shame to waste it that way. Heroes has an enormous cast of characters, and killing some of them off is almost necessary. I'm sick of seeing the same characters do the same sort of things every episode. How often has Claire decided she's going to do something, and be a real hero? One of the things I liked about Heroes in the first season was the feeling anyone could die at any moments. The second season introduced quite a few (admittedly shit) new characters, and I liked the idea that the show could have a rotating cast. I'd be happy if Peter survived (because he's the one who should logically become the big hero) and Sylar, because he's the villain, and the rest of the cast just changed around them.
  15. Seem as though everyone else is doing this, I may as well weigh in. Characters I like: Noah Bennett, Sylar, Peter (provided he DO something next season), Danko, Nathan, Hiro, Ando. Characters I keep hoping will die: Claire, Angela Petrelli, Mohinder, ANYONE played by Ali Larter. Characters I reserve special levels of hatred for: Anyone played by Ali Larter and Matt Parkman, who has shown himself to be the most pathetically easily manipulated character ever. He fell in love with Daphne when he was told he was supposed to, then Daphne died, then he became Super-Dad, then trying to shack back up with his ex-wife in what? Six months? Prick. I agree with the unfair killings of Elle, Daphne and Adam Monroe. Also, Daddy Petrelli was awesome. The last season just felt meandering and a little silly. It seems like they decided "let's try and get through a whole season without having a new super-powered villian", and then just kind of bounced around. It feels like each episode was only planned two or three episodes in advance.
  16. Magically turning into claws? I assumed part of the Weapon X program was that he had the claws put into him, and engineered so he'd be able to pop them out whenever he needed them. That's what I always assumed happened, and that's what makes sense to me. I'm not huge on X-Men mythology, despite my best efforts, so I'm probably wrong.
  17. I've always hated the bone claws. Just doesn't make sense.
  18. My copy broke the other day, very annoying. I'd just had a brilliant Royal Rumble match playing as random people (eventually HBK), which came down to Jericho, HBK, Big Show and Christian (CAW with decent-ish stats). HBK hit the sweet chin music (which in Rumble matches, they stumble around afterward before they fall down), then I followed it up with the running karate kick (SCM sub in signature moves). After two SCM, Jericho tossed Show out quite easily. A good three way brawl for awhile, before Jericho and Christian gang up and throw me out. Then Jericho and Christian have an AWESOME brawl, including Christian being in the Walls for quite awhile and being hit with the Codebreaker twice, and Christian hitting the reverse DDT signature and the reverse tornado DDT, before Jericho tossed him straight out and over the ropes. Made equally awesome by the fact Jericho is my World Champion, and I was having this match to find a challenger, and decided to throw him in the match anyway. Game broke immediately after this, just when I was full of ideas of what to play next. Damn.
  19. I don't have a problem with it at all, doesn't seem to do that for me. Evan Bourne is easily the best character in the game now. The sheer amount of moves that have been animated specifically for him means that it just feels like you're actually playing as Bourne. It's almost like the good old days where every wrestler seemed to have their own animated moves, instead of just generic ones.
  20. Spoiler: Click here to viewWow, so in Smallville Clark Kent goes public, and doesn't have a secret identity? Massive departure, but I really like it. What this show has done best is do the Superman mythology differently, and this fits with that. I love that he's now going to be forced to be a public hero, puts a whole new spin on a show that's been quite same-y for a couple of seasons. They should have done this awhile ago. Good stuff. Next step, flight. I want the suit, but not until the final episode.
  21. It takes even longer if you try and do it with mainstream bands. Seriously, I spent DAYS on that thing. I did go for the Guns N Roses version for Live and Let Die, but went for Artic Monkeys version of Diamonds are Forever. There's also a pretty good version of You Only Live Twice by Coldplay out there.
  22. Yeah, but I meant covers from bands I've heard of.
  23. A project myself and a few friends had awhile back was to find cover versions of every single James Bond theme song. We got quite a lot, most of them shit. All of them worth it for this one though: Nobody Does It Better by Radiohead But seriously, I challenge you to complete the set. It's like Pokemon, but with dodgy recordings.
  24. I really like it. But there have been better films this year. Not as good as the hype lets on, but it's still brilliant.
