  1. Just stemming from a discussion I was having in the pub the other day, what films can you think of that are better than the original book? It has to be a direct adaptation, so for example, Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now doesn't count. The discussion came up after watching Enduring Love, which is far, far better than the Ian McEwan novel, must mostly because McEwan is an incredibly dull author. The Jurassic Park novels are another that the films improve immeasurably. So, any more?

    Friends

Me and my friend run through the "Moo point" conversation a lot. It's hilarious, and one of the best written scenes I can think of.
  3. I'm looking forward to videos of create a finisher, I'm really interested to see how that works. The tag team system sounds very interesting. I just hope that you're not FORCED to use a double team finisher like the article makes it seem, and you can still perform your solo finisher if you want. I really hope that you can store a finisher. After playing some of the older smackdowns recently, I really, really miss that feature.
  4. Kurt Russel! I'm sorry, but that is perfect. I change my choice.
  5. Kari Byron. Oh God yes. There's a reason I watch nearly three hours worth of Mythbusters a day, and it's not just because I'm very ill, and can't really do much else.
  6. The Dark Knight Returns- (I know this has just been done, but as I'm actually reading it right at this exact moment, I thought I'd chip in. And Bruce Wayne is "pushing sixty", according to the The Dark Knight Strikes Again, the sequel. Although he also says Batman has been around for 40 years, so that would have made him rather young when he first donned the mask. Anyway, pedantic geekiness aside....... Batman/Bruce Wayne- A tough one. Tempted to go with Bruce Willis, but I think I'll settle on Harrison Ford as the aging action star of choice. Joker- Willem Dafoe Commisioner Gordon- Ian McKellen Superman- Brandon Routh (Superman is older, but I think it'd be a nice touch if he didn't look TOO much older) Carrie Kelly/Robin- I'd probably cast an unknown to be honest Oliver Queen/Green Arrow- Billy Connolly (what can I say, that is too perfect not to steal) Mutant Leader- Ron Perlman Harvey Dent/Two Face- Hugo Weaving Just looking at the cast, this film would have to have a budget of about a billion..............
  7. Bollocks. I was saying the other day I was amazed he was still alive, feel rather guilty about that now. Still, he had a great innings and accomplished a lot. I RELIGIOUSLY watched his TV series when I was a kid. Awesome stuff, that I'd love to see again.
  8. If there's a sequel, I think it'll ruin the first one a little bit. The first one was innovative, scary, funny and downright thrilling. I think it should be left as a one-off. I hate the "that was good, can't wait for the sequel" frame of mind everyone seems to have about every film nowadays. I loved the film, and the guy who didn't know what was going on.......... Were you even WATCHING the film? Did you just see the last half hour or something? I was very, very obvious who Rob was going to save. Doesn't he even say a few times "I need to get to Beth" or something along those lines? I completely missed something falling in the sea at the end though. Totally passed me by.
  9. Just had to download an update for this game from Xbox live. Any idea what said update does? Is there any way I can find out?
  10. While waiting for...... Summerslam to start I think, we were eating bag of awesome handmade toffees we'd managed to get cheap. There was one left. and half an hour to go before the PPV, so I suggested we put on Smackdown vs Raw 07, choose ourselves (we'd spent ages on CAW mode getting them perfect) and have a Ladder match for the right to the toffee. Twenty nine minutes later, I hit my finisher on both of them, and climbed the ladder to claim my delicious toffee. Nothing has ever tasted as sweet.
  11. The scene in Hot Fuzz where Angel is at the Fayre, and sits on the bench. The camera work, and Simon Pegg's actions as he scans the crowd is a direct lift from Jaws, so I started smirking and lightly chuckling. Then Paddy Considine dives into shot and shouts "SHARK!" I was laughing for 2-3 minutes after that.
  12. Anyone know anywhere I can get some WWE-based mp3s? Legally, of course
  13. Same here. Last time I got it repaired, it took four days, and it was back. Now, it's been over three weeks. Pain in the arse.
  14. I'm enjoying it, although the tag team AI is appaling, with your partner never coming in to save you, even when you've been destroyed. I'm playing on my friend's PS3 right now, can't wait for my Xbox to get back from the repair place (been almost a month!) so I can play on the 360, apparently it's much smoother. I'm looking forward to giving people updated entrance music. If only I could find somewhere that had WWE mp3s available for download................
  15. Pretty sure downloadable content was confirmed to be nothing more than a rumour on IGN.
  16. My flatmate just bought a PS3 second hand yesterday, however, all the details (email addresses, passwords etc) are all saved into the machine from the previous owner. To put in a new email address or billing information we have to enter the password, which of course, we don't know. How do we get rid of them, and restore the thing to factory settings? I've found a couple of guides over Google, but they don't seem to work. Help!
  17. That episode was amazing. Absolute brilliance from start to finish. I'm enjoying this season more than the last, simply because of the feeling of rapidly impending doom, that and the fact it's happening really quickly. The Kensei/Adam reveal was amazing. He was literally the last person I expected to walk around the corner.
  18. Not a fan of the reviews. The IGN mode overly criticised story-mode, then when talking about the game play, said it was more of the fun we've all come to love..... then give it a 7? A 7? If it's more of the same, but with an improvement thanks to the fighting styles, how can it score lower? As always with IGN reviews, what they say in the article, and their overall score are two vastly different things.
  19. The fake out at the end was brilliant. "Yes, it was the beetle............... but I wasn't in it!" Cue Clarkson tearing down the road in his crippled Lancia. Awesome.
  20. I actually found myself getting emotionally attatched to Oliver. When Hammond drove into the river, I genuinely went "Noo!" out-loud. And then got goosebumps when Oliver returned. I'm so easily manipulated by television.
  21. Mine died again yesterday, three red lights of doom. That's the second time in a year, and I don't play heavily by any means, just a few hours a week. What's the deal on warranty? I heard it had been extended?
  22. It's more that they didn't find a way to slot ECW into the story-mode. Not sticking up for them, as I really wanted to do 24/7 with Elijah Burke, but I'll just as happily go through it with a caw. Every game has it's drawbacks, and as far as only being able to pick 19 wrestlers in story-mode, this is a very very minor one.
  23. I hate them. I keep sticking them out, as Nikki/Jessica got interesting towards the end, so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But they're so freakin' boring. Maya is just a whining sod, and Alejandro needs to get a personality besides crying after his sister.
  24. That's nothing, Neighbours had a brother and a sister. That's why Neighbours owns your soul. Well, your television at the least.
