  1. I've never played on any of the games mentioned so far bar Backstage Assault, but kepp wanting to play Smackdown 2 for the PS1. I think its because it had such a huge and diverse (essa rios anyone) roster - literally everyone in the WWE that year (2000), such a huge - and I mean huge - tag division, and the fact that 2000 is the year i started watching wrestling, so it brings back happy memories. Having normal Mick Foley, Cactus Jack and Mankind in the same game was cool too. I keep hearing great things about some of the WCW/NWO games for N64, as well as No Mercy as you guys have been saying
  2. Whilst I don't think the gameplay on Smackdown is all that bad, its isn't great. But I do find it enjoyable now and again to play a quick match. It is far far from perfect, but is accpetable, and I believe some of you are being overly critical. It is far from perfect, but is OK, and becomes a lot more fun when playing with friends (playing a tag match with a human partner is much more fun, and you actually have a partner with intellegence then). It is enjoyable now and again. Matzat, I respect your opinion, and you do raise some very valid points, but if you hate the Smackdown series so much, maybe you should simply stop posting in Smackdown topics. You hate Smackdown games. We get it.
  3. Kluivert or Drogba. Kluivert has always been an excellent striker, and I am looking forward to seeing him play. What little i've seen of Drogba, he has been excellent. His inflated price tag shouldn't come into question, so yeah, i'm looking forward to seeing him too. Never heard of Van Persie until Arsenal signed him (ditto Tiago and Chelsea), and though I know he has had a good pre-season I know nothing of Kezman. Robben had a good Euro 2004, so i'm looking forward to seeing him a bit. Interesting to see what will happen when Duff gets back from injury though. EDIT - At the risk of sounding retarded, who's Javier De Pedro and who's signed him?
  4. I'm going to miss Tony, Michelle and Palmer. Not bothered about the rest. This is my favourite show, and Chloe aside, I like, maybe even love all the characters, but I love Tony more then all the others put together. Even more then Jack. He's always been my favourite, even when I thought he was a mole in season one. Tony is so fucking awesome. I am actually going to miss him a lot. Tony was just fantastic. And now he's gone............. :( I liked Michelle in season 2, but only in the same way I like Kim (her attractiveness), but I liked her a lot more in season three. She became possibly my 3rd favourite character (behind Tony and Jack), cos she developed into a great character. And like BlackFlag said, she kicked ass. I liked Michelle a lot, she was great, shame to see her go. I will miss the president, but only in the way you do miss a major character after they are written out. Not as bothered to see him go, but the show will feel weird without him. Think he's most likely to return in a few guest apperances though.
  5. You do realise thay isn't THE roster right? Just the ones they've made so far........... Their was an interview on NODQ.Com the other day with a THQ spokesman promising a larger roster, and saying anyone on TV in August will be in the game. And I liked create a PPV mode. It added longetivity to the game, cos I enjoyed coming up with different match combinations, and trying to beat my previous records. At a very very basic level, thats what EWR/TEW is............... If you don't like it, fair enough, but you don't have to play it. Its a new feature that will add longetivity, and is a feature others want. Whats the problem? Anyway, like i've said, the new features are awesome, but i'd like the following added/changed: - Make it actually hard. Smackdown! setting is easy. The only difficulty is the CPU counters 90% of moves. Its the same CPU AI as it is on easy setting, just counters tonnes more. Rather than have it counter all the time, why not make it ACTUALLY HARD on 'Smackdown', not just hard to land a move? - Endurance needs to go longer. Superstars with '7' endurance get their asses beat easily, an wearing someone down with '10' endurance takes too little time. Make enurance go further. - Added 'Parking Lot Brawl'? Why add new gimmick matches if you can't get the ones you have right. With the exception of the ones that are basically takes on single matches (Hardcore/Last Man Standing etc) and The Elimination Chamber all gimmick matches on HCTP sucked hard, Rumbles/Hell in a Cell/Ladder/Cage/Table included. They all need re-vamping. And since as they have 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 Hardcore matches, why not actually include the normal variant of that match, and 2 vs.3 matches - ones that might actually be fun to play - Another idea could be linked to the face heel meter included in the new game (it could boost the heel meter). It's basically a button that is used when you are pinning an opponent, or have him in a submission hold. With the tap of a button, you could hold the tights, put your feet on the rope, or hold the rope for extra leverage. Just and idea. - Speaking of the submission bars, great move, poorly done. On any difficulty above 'normal' it was impossible to make someone tap. On 'Smackdown setting', it was impossible to stop the bar moving up! It was like being punished for playing the hardest setting. A slight change in difficulty is fair enough, but that was taking the piss. Their should be no massive change in the submission bar across the difficulty settings, as I should be able to make some tap on the hardest setting - a thing I gave up on long ago. - Linked with SelfHighFives idea on selling moves. Your wrestler stays down longer, but can still kick out of pinfalls, and leap to break up pinfalls. For instance, I may be HBK in a triple threat match against Benoit and HHH. HHH is pinning Benoit, and I am down. I am able to 'crawl/leap/jump' across to break the pinfall up, but am still down/groggy after i've done it. - This is linked with the above (the part about staying down longer)Maybe, if done right this could be good (it was done way wrong in Wrestlemania X8 for Gamecube), that some moves become more powerful as the match goes on. For instance, clothesline someone early on, and they get up fairly quickly, but do it after a long, gruelling match and they stay down longer. Not sure on this one, but its an idea. I think its partially in the game already?
  6. This is starting to look really good! All the new features look great, and shows the developers actually want to innnovate the game rather than churn the same out each year. I just hope it lasts longer then the last game which I played non-stop for a month, and now only go on to pass a few minutes or when I get the urge to play a certain match. As well as the awesome new features, I'd like these changes - Make it actually hard. Smackdown! setting is easy. The only difficulty is the CPU counters 90% of moves. Its the same CPU AI as it is on easy setting, just counters tonnes more. Expecially now create a PPV mode is back! Looking forward to this game a lot more now.
  7. Spider-Man 2 - 8/10 Very good film. Better then the first? Its funnier then the first (some nice 'in' gags too), but maybe not better. The first stands better as a one-off film, whilst Spider-Man 2 has the definate feel as being a continuation of a series, and definetly feels like its there to set up future films, almost in a soap-opera way (Spider-Man 3 and 4 have been announced), and this makes it's impact as a one off film less great then it otherwise could have been. It almost takes some of the emphasis off Spider-Man vs. Doctor Octopus, and onto setting up things for Spider-Man 3. It is a very good film though, and a great sequel. The scenes with Spidey flying through New York are ace and some of the scenes of Spider-Man falling almost make you feel like you are falling with him. PS - The Comic book style opening sequence which acts like a 'previously in Spider-Man' is fantastic.
  8. Ha! Thats quality. It'll tide me over until I see the video again! Christopher Walken owns.................
  9. Not seen that one, but it doesn't have the awesome Christopher Walken in the video! Anyway, cheers guys.
  10. Ok, this is probably a really obvious question, but theres a Fat Boy Slim song with Christopher Walken dancing in the video. Whats the name of that song? I've heard the song hundreds of fimes, and I'm pretty certain its by FatBoy Slim, but I only saw the video for the first time last night. So, If anyone can help me out and give me the song title, that would be great. PS - I had no idea he could dance like that. Great dancer, horrible flyer..................
  11. Star Trek: First Contact 8/10 Very good, enjoyable film. Probably would have rated it higher if I hadn't sen it 4/5 times already. It does a lot the refrence previous episodes of the series, and the audiences knowledge of Star Trek is called upon (but explained for those who are unfamiliar) making it even better for fans fo the series. Possibly the best Star Trek film, and certainly the best out of the Next Generation films (Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis)
  12. Spider-man and Batman are my two favourites, so i'll got with them. Superman is possibly the 'ultimate', but I can't stand him.

They never actually did, it was a joke that got taken too seriously. Their was a thread in the lounge the other week about facts that people believe to be true, but are actually false, and that was one of them. Thought it wasn't real, but it looked so real. Cheers for clearing that up damshow. It was as funny as hell btw.

Holy shit! That can't be real. There is no way they would broadcast that to small kids is there? Is that seriously real, cos their is wayyyyyyyyyyy to much innuendo in it. Really funny though.
  15. I knew it was Jonathan Ross the second he opened his mouth, and it was confirmed the second he tried saying something with an 'R' in it!!! Didn't bother seeing the credits though
  16. Eurotrip - 6/10 Not a bad teen movie, but can't compete with Road Trip and the American Pie series. It almost seemed like they worked out a few jokes, set pieces, stunts and the places of a few naked girls in advance, then threw a loose plot round that. The whole film seemed very very skatty/skethcy and the story was REALLY rushed, but wasn't that bad. Gets a extra few points because Michelle Trachtenberg (sp) is incredibly, incredibly fit. Does she remind anyone else of Scarlett Johansson?
  17. Shrek 2 7.5/10 Good, enjoyable film, if nothing i'd go out of my way to see again.
  18. Thanks a lot, thats great! Muchos Gracias.
  19. Got GTA3 for the PS2. To be honest, I could never get into Vice City I'm not really getting into Ninja Gaiden either. WHATS THE MATTER WITH ME???
  20. Can anyone give me a link to a website with a list of transfers (invloving English clubs mainly) during the close season? I'm updating Pro Evo 3, and I know all the major transfers, its just a lot of others I'm having problems with - such as transfers that dont involve Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool!
  21. XBox hands down. I have one, and I did have a Gamecube, and I like my XBox a hell of a lot more. I will admit Cube is probably better for Platformers and RPG's (though XBox does have some very good games in both fields), but the 'Box is better for Shooters and sports games IMO. Its a matter of taste. If you get an XBox, may I reccomed: Halo (obviously! and I am looking forward to Halo 2 sooo much), Unreal Championship, and XBox generally has a tonne (and I mean a tonne, we are talking seemingly infinite) of awesome shooters, some I haven't played, Project Gotham Racing 2, Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic (awesome RPG), and many reccomend Ninja Gaiden. I got it on Saturday, but have hardly played it. In response to ROC-REVOLT, I admit Nintendo provides fantasic support to the cube. With your ten games however i'd put Halo 2 over Metroid Prime any day of the week, Starfox advebtures stank, and Mario Sunshine was good, but overrated. And it does kinda show my earlier point, that clearly the Cube does have the advantage with RPG's and Platformers (the sports games in your list are cartoonish 'kiddy' ones), whilst the XBox has the monopoly on Shooters and sports games. Its all a matter of personal taste, and myself being mainly a fan of shooters and Sports games prefer the XBox
  22. Fuck you Matzat To use your own lame argument against you "I'm a whining German twat who bitches about the English thinking they are better then everyone else just because they don't agree with me. Just because they have a different opinion then me they must just think i'm a nazi troll" Now anyway, in an attempt to increase the maturity of this thread, you talk about wanting your opinions heard. Thats fine, yet when Turbonegro posts his, you bitch. This is unfair. The you talk further about having your opinions heard, and yet you acuse others in here of being whiny bitches when they post their opinion. Please stop resorting to re-hashing crude stereotypes of the German/English relationship. Please stop posting little comments to piss the English fans off just because you KNOW they will react and we'll get another 4 pages of this argument that has already gone on WAY WAY WAY too long. Anyway, answer me this honestly. Put Germany in the same position. Have say, (I admit to not knowing too many German players, so forgive me if these are not currently in the national team) Michael Ballack score a goal identical to Campbell's in last minute against Portugal, but its disallowed because Metzelder did the same actions as John Terry. Can you honestly tell me that you wouldn't be in the slighest bit angry, upset or bitter? Now, potentially being slightly hipicritical, can I repeat what I have already said, and what others (e.g. Big Dirty) has agreed with:
  23. Project Gotham Racing 2 - 8.5/10 I hate racing games, but I really like this one. Its a great game. Unreal Championship - 8.5/10 A great fast paced alternative to the more tactical Halo. Fun multiplayer, but no single player mode to speak of Pro Evo 3 8/10 Overrated? Slightly. Still the best Footy game in the world? Certainly. Had fun building my master league team up a bit, though I have WAY too many players now!
  24. Ok, i've not posted in the Sports Bar for ages 'cos this argument was getting annoying, and I come back and its still going! We're never going to agree, we could keep making our cases and points and arguments over and over again, and we can keep bringing up new points to make until we are blue in the face, but we will never agree on this, so can we just agree to disagree, and move on with our lives! Anyway, to answer the topic, whilst I believe we were screwed over by Mr. Meier, it was FAR from being the biggest screwjob ever. Whilst I believe it was a horrible decision, I don't believe we deserved to go through, or we could have gone out anyway. We wouldn't have won the tournament IMO. So, i'm saying Montreal 97, as it was intentional. In my opinion it was a mistake by Meier, I'm not 100% sure it was intentional.
  25. www.ign.com and www.gamespot.com are the two I tend to use myself.
