  1. I'm was going to say 2-1 as well. It'll be something tight like 2-1, 1-0.
  2. Against Iceland today, we are going to play a flat 4-4-2, with Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes in midfield. Means no more defensive midfield role for Lampard. If it works, it should be good. Thats the best we can play IMO. And Butt should play for England? Butt has a knack of playing well for his country? Exactly how many England games do you watch? Butt hasn't played well for England - no wait, hasn't played well period since the Argentina match 2 years ago! Butt is piss poor. I say give Robinson a chance in goal, as James is the luckiest player to play for England twice. Ian Walker however, is a bigger joke. Anyway, back to midfield, Beckham, Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard is fine. If we need a defensive midfielder, I say play Hargreaves. Ahead of Scholes. Scholes is a great player, but isn't on form, whilst Lampard is. In short then: Normal Midfield: Beckham--------Gerrard--------Lampard--------Scholes Defensive Diamond (if needed) --------Hargreaves-------- Beckham----------------Gerrard --------Lampard-------- * To be honest, Gerrard and Lampard are interchangable there OR Gerrard at the base of the diamond, Beckham right, Lampard/Scholes left and Lampard/Scholes at the top, in the attacking position. And Beattie hasn't been given the chance to prove he can play for England. He looked good aginst Leichenstein when he started with Owen and Rooney, and looked good against Australia when started with Owen. His only other appearances have been late sub appearances where he was had about 5 mins top on the pitch, and has usually been paired with Heskey in those situations, so he hasn't had the chance to prove himself. Rooney is good, but not good enough yet, we shouldn't rest all our hopes on him. Has great potential though. Heskey is ok, but gets picked far too much. Vassell is great for the last 20 mins or so - to bring on and use his pace when the opposition are getting tired. Always plays well for England too. Thats also why Beattie deserves his chance. He has a goal scoring record as good as, if not better than any other England striker (maybe not Owen, but i'm not sure), and for a worse team. His scoring record is brilliant and over the past two seasons has scored more goals than any other English striker (maybe again not Owen, not sure). In short he deserves his chance. Someone told me he scored more Prem goals by Christmas then Heskey, Rooney and Vassell added. Not al too sure on that. If i've not made it clear enough, BEATTIE SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE, AND IN THE SQUAD! Plus, finally, we have a very good starting line-up, but after that very little else. If we get a few injuries/supsensions, we are buggered. If howver we stay injury free, we can do well. Should beat the group stage anyway. Getting to the semi's is very unlikely, but slightly possible, if we stay injury free and play well.
  3. Not seen Calcium Kid, but he is the same in EVERY movie. I can't stand the guy, yet everyone I know seems to like him. I liked the first film, but felt it was a little overrated. I'll still check this out though. Could/should be decent
  4. Pro Evolution Soccer 3 - 8/10 Best footy game ever, but still has a few flaws. Smackdown: HCTP - 8/10 Very good, but has flaws Halo - 9/10 Still great. Me and a mate were on multiplayer for ages tonight All that meant I got NO revision done today at all.
  5. I'm pretty confident we'll get past the first round. Even if we lose to France, we'll beat Switzerland, and have more then enough talent to beat Croatia. Then I agree with what Stokerino says. Should beat Greece, Russia are trickier, but we should still beat them. We CAN beat Portugal and Spain, but we'd have to play our very best. Out of Spain/Portugal, i'd feel our best chances would be against Spain, with Portugal being the host nation and all, and maybe they're the better team of the two.
  6. Shit. Ok then, it is a problem. But it could be worse..........It COULD be worse right??????????????
  7. Its tough. I don't believe i've ever got into/behind an England game the way I have some Sheffield United games (like the Forest Play off Semi Final, 2nd Leg, or the Arsenal FA Cup semi - both season before last), but then again, i've never seen England in a World Cup semi-Final or Final (Was too young to remmber Italia 90). Then, Likewise, if United were to make a FA Cup final or whatever then I'd be behind them sooooooooo much. I would say Country though, but its tight, like 52/48. Plus, if I were a player, I doubt I could ever have a bigger honour then playing for my country.
  8. I took the quiz and was Seriously Undergay. Thats Seriously Undergay. I.E Not Gay enough. THATS NOT A PROBLEM!!!! Whats the show actually like? Never watched the show, just did the test.
  9. (20th August 1986) UK - Lady In Red by Chris De Burgh U.S. - Papa Don't Preach by Madonna Interesting................
  10. The tick is all wrong on the Man Utd shirt, and i hate the triangle effect at the bottom (the change in the shade of red). The Arsenal one is quite good though. Don't like the fact they're practically the same shirt though, in terms of basic design. And i dont like the placing of the badge on either shirt either.
  11. Troy 7.5/10 I enjoyed the film. It was never going to be best film ever, but a good 7.5/10 for me, I enjoyed it. The thing that got me was not knowing who to cheer for. I rooted for Hector, wanted Paris dead, and didn't like nor dislike Achillies. Over all a decent film though IMO.
  12. Sorry to update an oldish topic, but I have a couple of questions that may have not warranted a thread by themselves. Firstly, I enjoyed the film. It was never going to be best film ever, but a good 7.5/10 for me, I enjoyed it. The thing that got me was not knowing who to cheer for. I rooted for Hector, wanted Paris dead, and didn't like nor dislike Achillies. Over all a decent film though IMO. Anyway, the questions I had were about the original Illyad (sp). I was wondering what was changed for the film? A friend of mine says Paris dies, and Achillies dies a different way. Is this true? And what else was changed for the film? Other then the time-frame anyway. The war in the film was a couple of days.................. Again, sorry if bumping this old thread was a bad idea
  13. I've not followed this yet. Anything else much happen on the first day? Usual suspects through etc? I probably wont start following this until after the first few rounds
  14. Apparenty Gronkjaer is going to Birmingham. Anyway, whats happening to Larsson? I heard he's leaving Celtic, so where is he going? And if you believe the Sunday Express Chelsea are offering £70m for Gerrard. Mmmmmmmmmm................
  15. Van Nistelrooy isn't up there because he has got of the premierships best goalscoring records, and has been and will continue to be one of the leagues top scorers. Ronaldo is a little overrated now, but has the potential to be huge, thats why he gets so much hype.
  16. Rivaldo - Just incredibly over-rated beyond belief Alan Smith - Decent. And thats it. No-One on your list is overrated IMO. Raul is FAR from being overrated. He's a quality striker with a very good record.
  17. Van Helsing - 5/10 Just generally bad, but there is a good idea under here, it just wasn't executed properly. Has a few good bits, and some good effects. And it has Kate Beckinsale!
  18. - I didn't know that. Fair enough. - Which was two years ago! What good is it being a good player two years ago. Also see the rest of my earlier post as to why I dont rate Nicky Butt. Oh and he wasn't our best player in the world cup - You obviously seem to ignore chunks of England games then. And again, read my earlier post about Robinson. There are whole number of reasons why a club goes down, its not down to just one player. If Gerrard had played for Wolves this season would you have not picked him for the squad because they went down? Like I said, see my earlier post.
  19. Yeah but look at who he was playing for and the defense he had in front of him. They'd have still conceded a similar amount with Kahn or Buffon in goal. Even though we all knew he wouldn't be ages ago, why the hell is James Beattie nowhere near the England squad? He's got a great scoring record, and with no offense to Southampton, doesn't play for a big club - he's score even more at one of the top teams. He's great in the air, is powerful, really strong and has one hell of a shot. Plus he and Heskey are the only more traditional centre forwards that could be in the squad. And even though I don't hate Heskey like most seem too, i'd pick Beattie over Heskey anyday. Its stupid that Beattie isn't in the squad. And I might have picked Defoe too. Not a Carragher fan, and Phil Neville should be nowhere near the squad. I'd have picked Southgate personally. Would be tempted to have taken 7, not 8 defenders and taken an extra striker. Plus Nicky Butt shouldn't play for England. Until Keane's injury problems he wasn't a regular for his team, hasn't had a good game since the Argentina world cup game, hasn't been playing well when he has played for Man Utd, and in his last few England games has been totally, completely, utterly wank. Anyway, from the squad: Robinson (Walker shouldnt even be considered for a second, and I trust James a much as I trust Saddam Hussein, so Robinson) G. Neville Terry Campbell Cole (Like Bridge, but Cole has more experience, and has had a pretty good season) Beckham Gerrard Scholes Lampard (how about doing the thing Poyet used to do for Chelsea - start on the left, but drift inside. Also attack as a centre-midfielder, but defend as a winger. Might not work at International level though I suppose. Or play Bridge/Cole at left back and the other on the left wing) Rooney Owen
  20. Not sure which two i'm gonna get the most stick for, but Rivaldo and Alan Smith. Mostly Rivaldo.
  21. A Battle Royale game would be good. As would Grand Theft Auto: Sheffield. And a killer Star Wars game would be amazing (with great multiplayer arena's too). Preferably with characters from the original trilogy, or at least a compromise. I want a really killer Simpsons game as well. Hit and Run was OK, but rushed and got boring quickly. It could have been a LOT LOT better. If they made that idea to the best of its potential then that could be a killer Simpsons game. I was thinking of other ways a killer Simpsons game could be made, and the best I could come up with was a free-roaming RPG.............. One of my favourite films is Goodfellas, and I was trying to think of how that could be made into a game. Dunno how really, as i've not seen the film for ages - forgotten key bits! Can't think of anything major off hand, but has anyone read 'Firewall' by Andy McNab? That would make a good game IMO. Similar to your usual Tom Clancy/Andy McNab games.
  22. I don't really mind where he goes. It would be nice seeing him in the Premiership, but I'm not sure if he could displace Terry, or more likely Gallas at Chelsea. Madrid should be a good move for him - maybe they've finally decided to build up their defense a bit after this years Champions League...............
  23. A bit suprised that Ronny got released after watching an interview with O'Leary saying he needs some centre-backs. Johnsen has been good when I've seen him. I don't really know whats going to happen to him, but he might get picked up by practically any lower Premiership side. A bit more suprised Dion has gone to be honest. I believe he has soemthing to offer still. Again, may end up at a lower Premier league side, or a div1 team. Both players can still play at a good level. To be honest, I would have thought there were worse players in the Villa squad.
  24. I don't like the fourth place team being in the Champions league at all. I dont care if the fourth best team in England are better then the champions of Slovakia or whatever, but at least the Slovakian team would have earnt it by WINNING something. Liverpool do not deserve a Champions league place at all. As ReilDeal points out, they are closer to the bottom of the table points wise then the top. Liverpool have been average all season, Newcastle have been hit and miss, and Villa were wank until Christmas. If you qualify for Europe, you should be playing well all season. I'm not too keen on the third place team entering. At the least they should have to go through qualifiers. It it was just the Champions, the tournament may be a bit repetitive, so I think it should be the top two, and ideally NO-ONE else. Though I can accept third placed teams if they go through the qualifying rounds.
  25. I like the idea, just again the ending of the whole world turning to relegion seems a bit epic and broad (as already said). I'd have just Brian turn to relegion. Maybe have scenes showing him at church, helping homeless etc, and have the hobo watch him doing these christian acts, then smile and walk off (at the very end). Maybe a fit cheesey, but heh. Good idea otherwise. Hope it goes well.
