  1. I've had Cross Bread on my feed for ages and never listened to it, and ended up binging it in one sitting. It's a six episode mockumentary about a fictional Australian Christian hip hop group made up of non religious siblings. Each episode is like twenty minutes. Very, very funny. (Be careful of the listening order if you give it a go, the last two episodes were transposed on my feed)
  2. Anyone watching The Big Door Prize? I'm only one episode in, but I find it really intriguing.
  3. just finished our flag means death, really loved it
  4. I loved a few things in VR. SuperHot, for example. Others just felt like Vr for the sake of it.
  5. YouTube shorts just recommended the final verse of this to me (I think if you press play it should go right to it) the whole song is great, but I'm obsessed with that last part. genuinely can't get it out of my head.
  6. yeah harvest. I love the different vocal styles on the track. Gonna keep an eye out i think
  7. anyone listening to Empire State Bastard? The new super group from Biffy Clyro frontman SImon Neil, Oceansize guitarist Mike Vennart, Dave Lombardo, and Naomi Macleod
  8. really sad, but I do appreciate when shows are just allowed to go out when they choose, and not forced to keep going until it gets shit. We only watched one episode of ghosts US btw and it was much worse

    Taskmaster

I would really recommend seasons 5 and 7. Five has Aisling Bea, Bob Mortimer, Mark Watson, Nish Kumar and Sally Phillips. Aisling, Mark, Nish and Sally are all adorable, and then Bob is just chaotic. Everyone is really sweet and fun. Season 7 has James Acaster, Jessica Knappett, Kerry Godliman, Phil Wang and Rhod Gilbert, and the relationship between Acaster and Gilbert, is amazing.

Kiell is adorable. That narrowboat task was so painful to watch

the easter eggs in the background were fine, it was just the sledgehammer approach to some of it was a bit much. like trek fans would have been ecstatic if Riker walked past a cage and there was a flying parasite in it. But instead we had to have Kirk's body, AND data's body, AND a tribble, AND the genesis device, AND some are saying Archers body, AND the Bounty, AND voyager, AND the NX-01, AND the 1701A, AND whatever like, just chill.

The biggest one was Moriarty, that one was unavoidable, and then the second biggest one was how this new data was seemingly comprised of Data, B4, Lore, Soong and Lal, and who those people were (although admittedly a couple of those were brought up in Picard), I also had to explain why The Bounty was significant, but she prolly could have got that from context if we kept going before she stopped to ask. I thought the flashback to the whistling was a bit weird as well, and my wife didn't immediately recognize riker from 40 years ago as the same person. Edit: Oh, also a quick reminder of section 31.
  13. Paul O Grady really normalised LGBT culture in british media during the 90s.

She's watched Discovery, Short Treks, Picard and Strange New Worlds. But we don't have the time to commit to 500 hours of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT. Let alone TAS, the movies, the new movies, Prodigy, Below Decks. I've seen them all, but I can't make her do it. Like, she's still enjoying it, but how do you even begin to explain a sentient sherlock holmes character. and then we got into the whole real-life legal issues they had with the character. It was a journey. It does make me begrudge those that argue this is real trek because of how self referential it is. I find it really tiresome tbh. Threads woven between series are great, but huge great patches cut and sewn in is something different. And I know that Picard is essentially TNG seasons 8, 9 and 10, but that show ended thirty years ago, you've gotta assume some people are coming in cold.

im enjoying picard but this season is basically impenetrable to new viewers. I had to pause episode six like three times to explain something to my wife.
  17. ok good note, I will also revise my strategy --- Just throwing a quick recommendation for Mint Works if you can find it cheap. It's really small, put it in your bag. it's a fun little game. ten minute time killer. just a quick recommendation for Mint Works
  18. I looked up some UK versions of American shows and there's an english spin off of sesame street called The Furchester Hotel. With 104 episodes it might be one of the most successful non-quiz show UK remakes.
  19. Really looking forward to seeing Mike on taskmaster
  20. I would be incredibly surprised to find it better than the UK version. Just an incredibly warm and funny television series. I'll check out the US one though

The fact that they have two penises was made canon in discovery
  22. Thinking about GTA3, that's a good example of collectables. It's explained to you what they are, they fit in with the games lore, you get tangible, useful and properly weighted rewards for collecting them, and they're not obtrusive
  23. I'm watching "No-one saw a thing" at the moment. No One Saw a Thing examines "an unsolved and mysterious death in the American Heartland and the effects of vigilantism in small town America. The case garnered international attention in the early 1980s after a resident, Ken Rex McElroy, was shot dead in front of almost 60 townspeople. These witnesses deny having seen anything, to this very day."[2]
  24. I don't mind collectables at all, I love collectables. but with this assassins creed game there's no story. you just land on the map and there are these icons for things to collect like, how does the player character know they're there? What the fuck is an animus fragment? Why are these treasure chests which contain like £8 so important that they're worth having icons on the map? what's the point of it? There's no reward or anything, there's no storyline to introduce them, it's all just so pointless and generic. it's really soured me on ever playing another AC game. Like, take Breath of the Wild and those fuckin korok seeds, there's a narrative reason for them. You're told why they're important, and the first 100 or so you get tangible rewards for collecting them. Then if you wanna get the last 800, that's on you, but there's no prompts or map icons or anything, if you ignore them after that point you'd never even know they were there. And even while you're collecting, there are puzzles to unlock them. But with AC treasure chests it's just like, walk to this treasure chest, open it, collect £8, walk to the next one, collect £9 and a necklace, but the necklace doesn't do anything so you just get the cash value of £25. What was the point of saying it was a necklace? I'm so mad at myself for having wasted the time doing it.
