  1. Spoiler

It is always a pleasure seeing the Kettlemans (mostly Betsy) being put in their place.

And I never thought that Kim would become the driving force behind Jimmy going full-Saul this season. Can't wait to see their plan backfire spectacularly.

Also nice touch showing us Saul's home getting raided. A bit of a disappointment though that we didn't get a black-and-white present-day-prelude like we usually do for the first episode. Although I'm sure that they will still get to that in a future episode.

One question, though: Was there a cutscene during or after the credits? The movie ended after midnight, and we were all too tired to stick around and wait.

Nope. But at the end of the credits they show you and URL that leads you to a website supposedly run by the Riddler on which you can solve riddles to unlock some in-universe supplementary material.

  3. I'm not saying the game is a catastrophe. I put like 60 hours into the game and I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't enjoyed it. I'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10. That isn't bad in my book. But the original was a 9/10 for me. That is why I was a bit underwhelmed.

  4. So I finished Horizon Forbidden West and I was kinda underwhelmed by the whole experience.

    Spoiler

The most interesting thing about Zero Dawn for me was uncovering the history of the "ancient ones". I did all the tribe-related quests because I knew they would eventually lead me to find out more about how the old world ended and how the Zero Dawn project came into fruition. They did some brilliant world building as far as that is concerned and Ted Faro has to be one of the best video game villains even though he died a thousand years before the game started and only shows up in old recordings. The whole Carja Vs Eclipse business was the least interesting aspect of that game.

The same holds true for the Forbidden West. I found myself not really caring about the Tenakth and Regalla's rebellion that was instigated by Sylens from the shadows because it felt like a rehash of the first game. The problem is that the old world history aspect of the story didn't really grab my attention either. The Far Zenith people just felt kinda meh as far as antagonists are concerned. And their story also felt kinda like a rehash of Ted Faro's story.

My favorite part of the game probably was exploring Thebes and learning about the fate of Ted Faro. So satisfying.

That's not what this is at all though? This is the combo system that current exists - where it's a bunch of strikes that would lead up to a certain move at the end. It's not the Attitude/Warzone series of inputs that you would do to just perform a series of moves, each button press is going to be an attack leading up to the big move at the end.

This is just an expanded version of that - IIRC, most of these combos just had 1 or 2 variations and they'd almost always just end with a heavy strike. This has been in this line of games going back since the original Smackdown, they just have more ways to end now.

It's in essence the kind of thing you're not going to know when you pick up and play a wrestler without looking at their move set anyways. You're going to know that you can start a combo always with a light strike, and then different combinations will always lead to a move and once you've done it so many times (especially if you use the same wrestler) you'll know that 2 light strikes and a heavy strike will be an enzuguri, etc. Just like you might not know that a grapple + up is going to be a vertical suplex until you do it.

That is not how grappling moves usually worked in the WWE games up to now. You tap the grapple button to do a front facelock, tap the grapple button + left stick into any direction for a normal grapple move and hold the grapple button + left stick into any direction for a strong grapple move. You didn't have to do a striking move to set a grapple move up or push any button multiple times. It was very intuitive and that was something I always liked about the SmackDown games and why I preferred them over most other wrestling games.

Now if this new combo system is something that you get in addition to the traditional grappling systems, I wouldn't mind it. But if it replaces the traditional systems, then I'm out. It might not be exactly as bad as the combo system for Attitude/Warzone or Nitro/Thunder, but it would still be a major step backward if you ask me.

I was gonna try and save scum, but then I read part of it depends on a choice you made in ME2.  I can't remember the specific one, but I do know I made the opposite choice.  I'd have to replay ME2 to be able to do it.

Not that that won't happen.  Might start the series over as MaleShep and romance Tali.  Never played as a MaleShep before

    Spoiler

The only conditions for broker peace between Geth and Quarians that are tied to ME2 are that both Legion and Tali survive the suicide mission. Other than that, 80% of your reputation bar need to be filled and you have to complete the Rannoch: Geth Fighter Squadrons mission before doing Priority: Rannoch. Did you let Legion die?

  7. Spoiler

It just that with the way they build up the reveal of his face it felt like they expected me to know who he is and be excited about seeing him when he finally lifts his head. That annoyed me. I don't have the slightest idea who he is supposed to be. For now he is just some dude working for the cartel who is a pretty good shot.

I just started Eternals and it looks fucking stupid and I don't know who anyone is. Is it worth sticking with this for good god nearly 3 hours?

I feel like some of the stuff introduced here is going to be integral to the overarching plot of the MCU going forward. So you might wanna sit through it unless you don't mind looking stuff up when it comes up again in later movies.

  9. And so the mudslinging begins: Bassist Steve Micciche has put out a statement of his own that doesn't paint Keith in the most positive light. I'd link to his Twitter profile, but he didn't post the statement as a thread but as separate tweets. So I'm linking Lambgoat instead who have the entire statement in one piece:

  10. I enjoyed the show well enough so far.

    Spoiler

The Tusken Raider part of the story dragged on a bit too long for me. I'm happy that it is done with and we're dealing with Boba going to war with the Pykes in the present and ousting Bib Fortuna in the past.

I don't mind the Space Vespa Gang themselves, but I'm also not a big fan of the space Vespas.

  11. I mostly knew him as young Hannibal in Hannibal Rising. And for what it's worth, his performance wasn't the problem of that movie. Apparently he has become quite a big deal in French cinema since then. He was nominated for a César award (they're like the French Academy Awards IIRC) for best actor for his portrayal as fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the movie Saint Laurent in 2014 and then won it 2 years later for his role as Louis in It's Only the End of the World. It is a tragedy. 37 is way too young.

Now they've reversed the decision and Sneap will be staying on.

I wonder what the point of this stunt was. I heard someone suggest is that this could have been a way of letting KK Downing in the band while saving face at the same time. They Announce that they plan to tour as a four-piece, wait for all the outrage from the fanbase to pour in and then put out a statement saying that they have listened to the fans and that to provide the best possible concert experience, they have decided to put aside your differences and welcome Downing back into the band. Make it look like you did it for the fans while at the same time not looking like a bunch of pushover for letting the guy that has been talking shit about them for years back into the band. But apparently they really thought that they could get away with touring as a quartet.

In other news, former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin announced today that he has been informed by Tony Iommi's management that a record deal has been signed to reissue the remaining 4 Black Sabbath albums with him as a singer. So it looks like those reissues are happening this year.

    https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/tony-martin-says-record-deal-has-been-secured-for-reissues-of-albums-he-recorded-with-black-sabbath/

And Keith Buckley has put out a full statement regarding the break-up of Every Time I Die:

  13. Judas Priest have ditched Andy Sneap as a live guitarist and will play as a quartet going forward:

    https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/judas-priest-to-tour-as-quartet-while-former-touring-guitarist-andy-sneap-focuses-on-his-production-work/

This is weird. Priest have always been a two guitar band. The twin-lead work of Tipton and Downing was the band's major trademark (combined with Halford soaring vocals). Priest with 1 guitarist doesn't make sense. And to make things even weirder, the band's statement makes it sound like Sneap left as a live guitarist on his own accord because he wants to focus on his job as a producer. But in his own statement, Sneap says that the decision was made without his input and that he is very disappointed about it (they are still on good terms though and he is still producing the follow-up to Firepower).

    https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/andy-sneap-is-incredibly-disappointed-but-respectful-of-judas-priests-decision-to-tour-as-quartet/

I get that they don't want K. K. Downing back since he has been badmouthing them basically ever since he left the band (and was actually surprised and confused about not being invited back into the band when Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and stepped down from playing live shows), but why can't they they just get someone else to play the 2nd guitar? What about Metal Mike Chlasciak from Halford's solo band?

WEll that is until it got to the point where I remembered Kaiden is speciesist as fuck.  Dude basically straight up hates aliens.  Fuck that dude FemShep, but not literally.  Back to blue waifu for me!

Is Kaiden speciesist too? I thought that was just Ashley. To be fair, I never romanced the dude. But from the non-romantic interactions I had with him, he seems to be pretty chill.

  15. I can't blame her though. I can't think of many people who have had shit thrown at her as badly and as constantly as Lindsay. And that has pretty much been the case ever since her Youtube career started way back in 2008. It was death by a 1000 cuts. She has been planning on leaving YT for a while. The whole Raya drama just accelerated the process.
