  1. I have to agree with Lint in regard to Disney's choice of the new Black Panther. I went into the movie with an open mind and tried my best not to let Letitia Wright's opinions on Covid influence my opinion of her performance. I liked her as the tech-person side-kick in the first movie, but I though her performance in this one was sub-par. Disney definitely made the wrong choice.

I wasn't a fan of Namor either. He was just an inferior version of Warmonger and those stupid wings really took me out of the movie every time he showed up. The Talokanil were really cool, but they deserved to have a better leader then him. They even made the mistake of bringing Warmonger back for a short cameo which only served to remind us about how much better of a villain he is in every way compared to Namor.

  2. I meant to read the books after the show was concluded. But the horrible last few seasons turned me off of doing that. And now I'm not sure if I should invest all the time in a series that will likely never be concluded. We're probably going to get Winds Of Winter eventually, but I don't thin A Dream of Spring will ever see the light of day.

  3. Same here. The show took a while to properly get going. I still maintain that you can take the first 2 hour-long episodes and cut them together into one hour-long episode without loosing much of importance. But by episode 3 they had me hooked.

It did take me until the final episode to figure out that Halbrand was Sauron. They did throw me for a loop with the whole "I killed Sauron" speech by Adar and the three weirdos mistaking Gandalf (The Stranger is supposed to be Gandalf, right? I figure that by the way he takes to the Hobbits it has to be Gandalf) for Sauron. For a moment there I really thought they would throw us a curve ball and re-write Sauron's history.

And who were those three weirdos anyway?

I know this is going to sound weird, but I'm kinda glad that the war is about to start. I was so tired of those awkward family meetings and the near-constant passive-aggressiveness.

I'm also happy that Alicent is finally showing some backbone in dealing with her father. I'm afraid it is a bit too late for that though.

I think everyone is aware of Marvel's third act problem at this point. But they didn't solve that problem with that 4th wall breaking, self-deprecating bullshit. They just decided to simply not give us a climax. They skipped straight to the aftermath of the climax when the baddies are being led away in handcuffs.

In all honesty, most people on both sides of the Dance are absolute assholes to some extent. No shame in staying Team Rhaenyra, though tbf her biggest asshole moves are coming in future seasons.

    Spoiler

Just for clarification: Rhaenyra did order Deamon to kill Laenor, right? And the reason for why he didn't end up dead that was that Qarl staged the switcheroo. Neither Rhaenyra or Deamon were involved in that, right?

    Cregan Stark

    Spoiler

All joking aside, I have really no idea who to root for now. All the major players in this conflict are assholes to varying degrees and there isn't even a sole voice of reason like Tyrion or Varys in either faction anymore other then maybe Rhaenys if loosing both of her children hasn't completely broken her. And even if it hasn't, I don't think anyone will listen to her. I would appreciate a Stark becoming a major character in the show.

Edit: I was so pissed of at Rhaenyra's heel turn that I immediately went here to vent and forgot that I had a couple of minutes of the episode left to watch. I'm rooting for Laenor and Quarl to have a happy life in Essos.

  8. I'm warming up to the Rings Of Power now that things finally got going.

    Spoiler

I'm looking forward to seeing Sauron outside of his armor and the prospect of getting to witness the Downfall of Númenor has me excited as well. I still don't know what to make out of the Hobbit sub-plot.

And do we really need to shoehorn a tragic elf/non-elf romance into every talking adaptation?

  9. The new Blind Guardian album is out and it is really good! If you think the last few BG albums were too overloaded with orchestral elements, you should definitely check this out! They managed to strip down their sound for this album and harken back to their 90s glory days without sounding like they are just retreading old ground.
