  1. I never saw either Dio nor Motörhead live. So any of their shows. For Dio it would be a show from either the Holy Diver, Last in Line or first half of the Sacred Heart tour when Vivian Campbell was still in the band. For Motörhead any era would do except the final few years of the band's existence when Lemmy started to decline physically. I'd even be curious to see what the band was like live with Brian Robertson in 1983. Alternatively I would also love to see Helloween during the Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 2 tour in 1988 when Kai Hansen was still with the band and Kiske was in his prime.

  2. One thing I forgot to add is that once Hagar and Vinny got to know each other and Hagar asked him about it, Paul said that he had no memory of that. So it was probably just management putting out their feelers to different singers because they realized how dysfunctional the band had become and anticipated that Anselmo would leave or be fired sooner or later and not something the band themselves ever really considered.

  3. In a recent interview, Sammy Hagar claimed that at one point in the late 90s after he left Van Halen, he was asked by Pantera's management to replace Phil Anselmo. He says that happened before he befriended Vinny Paul. He turned them down because he didn't want to join another band after his split with Van Halen and especially not as the replacement for another singer. Would have been interesting if that had actually happened. Could you imagine Pantera playing a Groove Metal version of Why Can't This be Love or Hagar singing Walk?

  4. Hawkeye finale and Black Widow post-credit scene spoilers

    Spoiler

I'm with @Daniel Bryan. Not a fan of how they concluded the Jack/Kingpin/Eleanor plot. What was the point of Jack being in the show at all? It seemed like they were building him up to be one of the big bads of the show, but then takes a back seat in the second half of the show once and then has a sudden, unexplained heel-face-turn and fights on the good guy's side in the final battle?

I also agree on his point about Echo. I guess Echo is supposed to have a change of heart when Clint reveals that he was tipped off by Kingpin and gave her the "we're both weapons" speech. But I didn't buy that at all. From what we've seen of her in the show, she was absolutely hell-bent on killing Clint. It makes no sense for her to just let him go and even help him.

I don't mind how the confrontation between Clint and Yelena went down. What confused me is that everyone insisted that it was Eleanor who hired Yelena to kill Clint. Didn't we see in the post-credit scene of Black Widow that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine told Yelena that Clint murdered Natasha and assigned him as Yelena's next target?

Since Judas Priest was mentioned, I just have to ask: Is KK's Priest any good?

It is okay. Not outstanding, not terrible. Run-of-the-mil Priest-inspired Metal played by competent musicians. The production sounds a bit cheap. In particular the drums. And they weirdly buried Tim Owens's vocals in the mix. It is better than Redeemer Of Souls and Nostradamus, but it has nothing on Firepower.

  6. Judas Priest have cancelled the remainder of their US tour featuring Sabaton as guitarist suffered an aortic aneurysm and complete aortic dissection during the band's performance at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky on September 26th. According to the 41 year old guitarist, it happened as the band played Painkiller, the final song on the setlist that night. He was rushed to the Rudd Heart & Lung Center and underwent a 10 1/1 hour long emergency open heart surgery during which 5 parts of his chest were replaced with mechanical parts. He was discharged from the hospital earlier today.

Holy shit! It is a miracle that the dude survived this.

  7. So there is an annual event in Japan called DigiFes that celebrates everything Digimon. This years edition of the event, which took place a few days ago, was all about the 20th anniversary of Digimon Tamers. During the event a script by Chiaki J. Konaka, the main writer of Tamers, was performed by the original voice actors of the show. Sounds cool so far, right? Well, as it turns out Konaka didn't write a regular Digimon script. In this script, the Tamers and their Digimon were fighting the big bad "Political Correctness" who was using devastating attacks such as "Cancel Culture". I'm not making this up. It really happened. The original voice actors read this bizarre script live on stage in front of an audience:

And I'm sitting here wondering how the hell this got approved and how they convinced the voice actors to read this.

  8. I'm done with my Andromeda playthrough. Now I'm sitting here jonesing for more Mass Effect and probably have to wait 4 to 5 more years to get.

And yes, I know there are books and comics including a novel that deals with the Quarian ark. I don't really care for any of that.

  9. Iron Maiden are back:

New album "Senjutsu" will be out September 3rd. It is about 82 minutes long.

    1. "Senjutsu" (8:20) Smith/Harris
    2. "Stratego" (4:59) Gers/Harris
    3. "The Writing On The Wall" (6:13) Smith/Dickinson
    4. "Lost In A Lost World" (9:31) Harris
    5. "Days Of Future Past" (4:03) Smith/Dickinson
    6. "The Time Machine" (7:09) Gers/Harris
    7. "Darkest Hour" (7:20) Smith/Dickinson
    8. "Death Of The Celts" (10:20) Harris
    9. "The Parchment" (12:39) Harris
    10. "Hell On Earth" (11:19) Harris

4 Harris-penned long tracks. And 3 of them in a row close out the album. And only 2 songs under 5 minutes. This is going to be a slug to get through, isn't it?

  10. How to you usually deal with Kalinda in Mass Effect Andromeda?

I let her die in my current playthrough. Not only is she a user who emotionally abused PeeBee and probably would have turned on her again the second it became convenient for her, she also must have hired about a hundred goons to kill us over the course of the string of quests involving her and didn't seem to care all that much that they all died in the process.

  11. I was a decent movie, just not really the Black Widow movie I had hoped for.

    Spoiler

I had hoped for a spy movie similar in tone to Captain America 2 where she is the center of attention and gets to be a bad ass. Instead the main purpose of the movie seems to be to set up the new Black Widows and Natasha is constantly outshone by her. I like the new Black Widow, but it kinda pisses me off that in her own movie that is also he last big appearance in the MCU she has been neutered and plays the the 2nd fiddle to he successor.

Also what is up with Red Guardian and Captain America? When he brags to the other prisoners about having fought Captain America in the 80s I though he was just telling tall tales as the MCU Cap wasn't defrosted until 2011. But later he asks Natasha if Cap ever talked about him to her. Why would talk to Natasha about a person he never met? Was there another Captain America? Or is the Red Guardian so delusional that he believes himself to be such a big deal that Cap must have heard of him and be in awe of him?

  12. I decided to do another ME:Andromeda run. Why the hell is the font size so damn small? That wasn't a problem with the old games. I have to get up and stand right in front of my wall-mounted TV if I want to read the codex entries or the subtitles. I've noticed that with a lot of current-gen games. Why is that?

Well that's depressing. I am about to start ME3 :(

It's still a great game overall. It really is just the final 30 minutes that suck.

Eh. I never got around to finishing Mass Effect 3 before - my life was too caught up with school and the like at the time and then I just never got around to it because I committed myself to beating 1 and 2 again before I went back into it. In the end... I really don't think it's that bad at all, but I didn't have to sit through the original ending. Really not that bothered by what we end up getting here at all.

The extended cut, which is the default ending in the Legendary Edition, was really just an expended version of the original endings. It fixed some issues, the biggest one being with the extended cut we actually get to see the consequences of our choice with the epilogues they added. IIRC, in the original endings we get to see the Crucible fire, the fate of the reapers depending on what choice you make and the scene with your crew leaving the crashed Normandy and then it goes straight to credits. But the big issues that most people had with the ending still persist.

I think the original backlash to the ending was waaaay over the top though. EA has done much worse things than this ending for which they didn't take nearly as much flack as they did for this ending.

  14. So almost 9 years since the extended cut of the ME3 ending was release and the ending is still bad. I thought coming back to that game after not having played it again since finishing the extended cut back in 2012 and coming at it without all the anticipation, the years of theorizing and unrealistic expectations might help me gain a new perspective on the ending. But after having finished it, I'm still just as disappointed as I was 9 years ago.

The only thing I'm curious about with the new game is which of the 3 choices they decide to make canon in the next game.

Also I could have lived without the knowledge that the Protheans were a bunch of imperialistic slave drivers. I really regret thawing Javik out.

Also both From Ashes as well as Leviathan should have totally been part of the main game and not DLC. The fact that you had to buy a DLC to get the actual backstory of the Reapers is maddening.
