  1. First thing I noticed was that you have a huge squad there, General. Now sure if you could go about keeping them all happy.
  2. Not only did you bring this travesty of a thread back into reading range, you bumped it with something that is completely wrong. Gonna go Wikipedia on your ass here, but all their sources are there. 'The earliest known reference to baseball is in a 1744 British publication, A Little Pretty Pocket-Book, by John Newbery. It contains a rhymed description of "base-ball" and a woodcut showing a field set-up somewhat similar to the modern game—though in a triangular rather than diamond configuration, and with posts instead of ground-level bases.[5] English lawyer William Bray recorded a game of baseball on Easter Monday 1755 in Guildford, Surrey; Bray's diary was verified as authentic in September 2008.[6] This early form of the game was apparently brought to North America by English immigrants; rounders was also brought to the continent by both British and Irish immigrants. The first known American reference to baseball appears in a 1791 Pittsfield, Massachusetts, town bylaw prohibiting the playing of the game near the town's new meeting house.' So go and disappear back into the hole you crawled into the last time you made a fool of yourself.
  3. My first regen-only news item - my 19 year old Italian keeper who was whinging last year about not having settled in London and kept on turning up late to training finally got settled this month. It appears he got so settled that he turned up to training late again as he was out clubbing into the early hours of the morning. Should have accepted the bid that just came in for him
  4. I also bought both Kranjcar and Downing for Tottenham. Kranjcar was disappointing and I sold him again soon after (yet he was in Tottenham's favoured personnel for awhile for some reason, but he's gone now). Downing has been immense though, got most assists for the team for the last couple of seasons, a really good buy. Also, with Downing, Rose, Kidd and Bentley, it's meant I've had four really good English wingers for a good couple of seasons. And the most I've now spent is 30m on Rene Adler as Gomes replacement. He better be worth it :@ Akinfeev also wanted to come but I think Moscow would've only settled for 40m, even 50m plus. And Matt Kid, my right mid regen who I signed 7 years ago for 275k just won the Euro's Best Player award and had a bid come in worth 36m plus a 14.5m Fernando Gago
  5. With Spurs, I have a back 4 that'll be there for a good 4 years at least, probably. I could always bring in a better left back for Bale (26) but he seems to do the little things that adds a lot to the team. Have Jack Rodwell (25) and a Spanish regen (21 with 5 caps already) as centre backs and a 26 year old Aussie regen at right back. Gomes is 35 so I'll be buying a replacement for him during the transfer window and he'll be back up until he retires. My DM, Gojko Kacar, is 29 so he'll have 2-3 years in him still, with Huddlestone (29) as back up and an 18 year old Frenchie with 5 star potential behind him. The regen I posted before, Matt Kidd, is 24 and will have the right mid position tied down until he retires, but I'll have to buy someone new after the next season at left mid as Downing is about to turn 32 and Rose isn't good enough for a permanent starting position. Also have Bentley as right mid back up until he retires. For AMC I have Matias Fernandez who is 30, so when he starts to decline I have a 21 year old Spanish regen ready to take his place. Up front I have Falcao who is 30 and a 21 year old German to start for the next season but Falcao may lose out after that. So really I have about 7 out of 11 positions covered for at least two years, with five of those around for at least the next five and another two ready to step up for careers in the team, unless they don't play as well as they should. Good nucleus to build the team around to keep my Champions League spot and try and go for the title.
  6. Just got my highest finish in my Spurs game finishing third (on GD with Liverpool getting 2nd by 1 or 2 goals). Falcao was on fire in the last ten-or-so games, going at more than a goal a match as we demolished some teams. Lost the FA Cup final to Man City though (who won the league by about 10 points).
  7. Up there with the Pedro Mendes goal. Spurs shouldn't bother showing up at Old Trafford anymore, every time we're in with a shout the ref does something to turn the game.
  9. Some other good deals include: - Getting Jagielka AND 4.3m for Michael Dawson in the January transfer window of the first year. Jagielka became my captain in pre-season 10/11 and he's been first choice since he started. Out with a back injury for a month which has seen him lose his starting spot as Jack Rodwell and a Spanish regen are now my starting centre backs (even over Corluka). He's 33 now, so I'll probably take the captaincy off him end of this season (15/16, so five years of captaincy) and just have him as a back up. Has made near 340 appearances in that time. - Selling Jenas for 8m. Suckers - For 275k from MK Dons when he was 17/18. After a few years of being Bentley's protege he's now taken his spot in the first team. He's now worth 25m and I've received offers of about 40m for him. The pic isn't entirely clear but he doesn't have a stat below 12.
  10. Milevskyi? Yeah, after the second season. He'd been in awesome form for Dinamo Kiev in the two years before (27 in 33 and 23 in 27 (19 in 17 in the league)) which could've put his price up a bit as well as me having to pay overs in the first couple of years to get good players to the club. Selling wise, I sold Modric to Barcelona for 20m, Bent to Sunderland for 16.5m , Owen to Liverpool for 15.75m (after getting him on a free the year before) and 14m for a 30/31 year old Woodgate to Aston Villa.
  11. 24m pounds for Artem Milevskyi, Ukrainian striker. The new Berbatov for Tottenham In all competitions over the years: 10/11: 11 goals in 35, 3 assists (think this was with a one man striker system, was pretty rubbish) 11/12: 23 in 48, 7 assists 12/13: 16 in 39, 9 assists 13/14: 27 in 49, 7 assists 14/15: 23 in 43, 5 assists 15/16: 2 in 23, 2 assists (yeah, has been rubbish this year, hasn't even made the bench in the past month or so) Formed a really good partnership with Pavlyuchenko originally and then Falcao in the last two-three years. But has past his use-by-date and I'll be selling him this transfer window. He has the most league goals for the club with 76 (not in history, obviously, just since I started) which Pavlyuchenko held with 68 before. Falcao currently has 45. Those 3 have been my main strikers over the years with cameo appearances from Bent (18 in 49 in his one season before I sold him) and Owen, who I got for free before selling him the next year for 15.75m as he got ZERO goals in 25 league games (12 starts) and 2 in 32 overall. First three years was one up-front (Pav with Bent as back-up the first, Pav with Owen the second and Pav with Milevskyi the third) before I bought Falcao in the fourth and changed to two up-front, so I had a rotation of those 3 for the next three years. Sold Pav last year with my third being Victor Moses or one of two English regens. Bought a really good German regen this year who has cemented a first team spot thanks to Milevskyi going shite. Just checked the overall stats, Pav got 106 in 256, Milevskyi has 102 in 229 and Falcao 73 in 187.
  12. Huh? Have I missed something?
  13. He says 'Hey Miles, long time no see' when he gets off the sub, so yeah, he would be. And they're coming from 'Ann Arbor' or Harbor or whatever the hell it is, wherever the hell it is.
  14. Man, not Dawson Hopefully it's not season ending. Hutton to make his return and Corluka to centre back.
  15. Darren Bent! Palacios, from the games I've seen (his first couple), has been excellent, though apparently his passing has let him down a bit recently. Corluka had a sluggish start but has really found his place since the new year (probably since Redknapp took over actually).
  16. Saw some pictures of about half the team getting tattoos. Corluka too I think
  17. Quick question I might as well stick here - who does the vocals for The Ian Carey Project's 'Get Shaky', does anyone know? She sounds filthy.
  18. Aye, but then that would be Wog. So Pesci's statement would make sense but the Dago's would get all offended by it.
  19. Doesn't WAG stand for 'Wives and Girlfriends'? >_>
  20. Man, it's the end of the 14/15 season, finished 4th with Spurs (highest finish yet ) but Bale now dislikes both Falcao and Corluka. I was thinking of getting a replacement for Bale in the transfer window anyway, as although he's good he isn't brilliant, but I think he dislikes these two because he's loyal to the club and both Falcao and Corluka have been making noise about wanting to leave. So now I want to keep him for being such a champ And I now have both Ledley King (he retired after the 13/14 season, but because I signed him on as a coach before the season's technically changed all his stats from that season were lost :@) and Erik Edman (who I resigned in 09/10 and he just retired) on my coaching staff. How awesome is that?
  21. Still haven't picked up either, btw. Will hopefully get The Wire off a mate when I go back to Sydney next week.
  22. BSG starts off well with the mini-series and half the first season but bombs after that (haven't seen the last season/half season/whatever it is). Still ok, but not brilliant.
