  1. Exactly, Haaland made a mistake and didn't believe Keane was as injured as he claimed to be. Fair enough, there was no malice in it. It was clear as day to absolutely everyone who has seen that tackle that Keane was doing nothing but trying to end Haaland's career. Ultimately it was the other knee that stopped Haaland playing, but for the premeditated attempt to do that himself by Keane I've absolutely no respect for him whatsoever. You can be as good a player as you want, but in any "normal" industry he'd have been booted out for deliberately trying to take another person's career away. I'd take a peak Ronaldinho over a peak Keane. However now I wouldn't let either of them near any club I care about as a player or manager.

    Reading/Leeds

Said glowsticks will be observed on the day. I can remember being quite drunk with a friend in 2006 whilst watching Maximo Park, we passed the time by lobbing three-figures worth of glow sticks into the distant crowd. It was pleasing at the time. The Dirty Pretty Things/We Are Scientists double bill looks like it'll be my favourite part of the weekend, headliners look good too (mixing and matching between stages), particularly The Cribs. I think it's wise Reading semi-promote The Wombats as headliners given that Pete Doherty is currently in prison and chances are something will happen between now and then to take him out of the running. I'd like to see Babyshambles at Reading, but even if they make it I've seen them before, while RATM is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.
  3. After a crack at making the play-offs with Crystal Palace looking likely with a handful of games to do, things took a slightly negative turn. My players all fell out, it seemed like everybody disliked somebody. Ben Watson refused to sign a new contract - had to be sold, so too Tom Soares. With the central midfield depleted and a run of draws meaning the play-offs were out of reach, I decided I'd had enough of the small club mentality and walked... ...into the Watford hotseat with a game remaining and a really good squad. The odds were against us and we didn't make the play-offs either. Then came the long summer. Aid Boothroyd did his best to make Watford into Leeds mk. 2, spending the club into major debt. Key players had to be sold over the summer, not-so-good versions coming in. Considering I left Palace for their lack of ambition, this was never going to work out. Two games in, two defeats, I again quit and established myself as an untrusted journeyman. 10 games into the Spanish season Celta had made a great start and were 4th thanks mainly to Stoichkov shelling out £9m on Lulinha. He left to take the Atletico job and I somehow got the Celta position (despite being an outsider). Lulinha in a free role (starting behind the front two) has destroyed nearly every defence, 17 goals this season. Beat Real Madrid 2-1 and came back from 3-0 to draw 3-3 with Barca in last two games. Pipped to 4th by Villarreal, but 5th and UEFA Cup football will do me for next year. There's no money to spend, but picked up some great players for nothing after 3 clubs in La Liga went into administration and were laid off.
  4. After successfully guiding Crystal Palace back to the Championship at the first time of asking, I'm now in the last play-off slot with 8 games remaining. Although my players stuck with me through the League One campaign, their desire to play at a higher level is starting to grate now. Ben Watson's refusal to sign a new contract saw him sold to Reading (Championship leaders - they're pretty much guaranteed champions anyway), picked up a better midfielder from Wolves for half the price anyway. Bradley Wright-Phillips has managed to fall out with 4 players, that coupled with his shit form means his time has come and will be next. My strikers Charlie Sheringham and Clinton Morrison hate each other, but fire the goals together (a la Sherringtham Sr. and Cole). Took a gamble on Jermaine Beckford, hadn't really played him until three games ago. In his three starts he's netted one, one and four.
  5. Has she got a wonky eye? In some pictures it looks fine, in others I can see nothing but her left eye staring off in a completely different direction to the right. It's distracting.
  6. I'll keep going with the correct score bets. 5 on Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United 5 on Sunderland 1-1 Middlesbrough 5 on West Ham 1-2 Newcastle 5 on Wigan 2-0 Reading
  7. You have to love the predictability of Spurs. They go ahead, you think they're going to dominate...then the other team scores and it ends a draw.
  8. I just found out a way to play 97/98 on XP. There goes my upcoming long weekend.
  9. 97/98 was the first one I really played first and remains my favourite to this day. I used to like starting up with Liverpool, you had Karl-Heinz Riedle, Fowler and Owen to sort the Premier League out, I remember playing non-stop on a half-term from school and racking up ten consecutive leagu titles. Good times. Sadly, for me at least, you had to go into MS Dos to install or run it. I still have the CD, just can't get it to work.
  10. My favourite games tend to be with Brentford (local team) as opposed to Arsenal (supported team), it's just a better atmosphere. One game that springs to mind would be the second leg of the play-off semi finals with Huddersfield and few years back. Went up to Huddersfield to watch Brentford get a good 0-0 draw, then within a few minutes of the return match Paul Smith - then Brentford 'keeper drops the ball and they're 0-1 down. Cue goals from Darren Powell and legend Lloyd Owusu, 2-1, pitch invasion and off to Cardiff. About as good as it gets for Brentford. It was nice to go to Cardiff with them for the final of the Shield/Paint Trophy/LDV Vans or whatever it is now, and for a play-off final, but ultimately lost both which soured the experience. For Arsenal, the European games at Wembley were unique, for the fans at least, the team crashed out as per usual. Scoring two late goals against AIK made for a good finish in that one.

Sounds pretty good, I didn't know about those extras. I'm still waiting to hear from my friend who has tickets, who seems to have vanished from existence for the last week or two, so I'm going to assume it's a no for me unless something miraculous happens between now and Friday.
  12. Bet 1: 5 on draw (Middlesbrough vs. Bolton) @ 9/4 Bet 2: 5 on draw (Wigan vs. Tottenham) @ 11/5 5 on Middlesbrough vs. Bolton to be 1-1 5 on Wigan vs. Tottenham to be 1-1. Draws draws draws, I hope. If this does continue for any great period of time would it be possible to work in doubles/triples/accumulator bets to up the odds?

One that always makes me chuckle is Chandler's delivery to Joey of: "On a scale of one to ten, ten being the dumbest you can possibly look, you are definitely 19."
  14. Clearly not for all. There are far worse offenders on these here boards.
  15. Well obviously, it's not exactly the hottest topic of debate for people who don't care about him That and the long posts of praise came first when there was nothing to defend. Either that or it was an attempt to fully answer the original question and create a bit a discussion.
  16. Nothing Better by Postal Service leaves me quite down after a listen - although if you disconnect from the lyrics it is a happy enough tune playing alone I suppose. When I quit my last job my mp3 player threw up Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles as I was leaving, that has since been one of my happiest songs.
  17. 8 on Everton to beat Birmingham @ 11/8Birmingham vs. Everton - Birmingham 13/8, Draw 11/5, Everton 11/8 4 on Everton to win 2-0 @ 10/1 8 on Reading and Fulham to draw @ 2/1
  18. Was just about to add, on TV he will spend a lot of his air time mentioning dinkles and ballbags. However on Radio 2, while that's still intact, he shows that he's actually quite well-read and intelligent. He also has a very odd laugh, which is infectious nonetheless. Plus you get the bonus of Matt Morgan, Mr Gee and Noel Gallagher calling in to be offensive as he was to Jonah Hill this week. Very funny.
  19. Finally got round to FM2008, apart from the skin - which can be easily changed/darkened - things have started well. Started off unemployed, forcing my way into League 1 strugglers Cheltenham when the board expressed disappointment in being rooted to the bottom. Sorted out a parent deal with Aston Villa, signed Dwight Yorke on a free and finished in the top half. I was a bit gutted the Brentford job I was after came up shortly after I started with Cheltenham, it was an indication my career was to be based elsewhere, I saw out my contract and left after boosting my reputation. Not trying to jump too far too soon I took the Crystal Palace job after they were relegated to League One. Kept the squad together and signed Michael McIndoe for the left wing - cruising at the top as expected, played 9 won 8 drawn 1, conceded 2. That and Simon Jordan stumped up an extra 3m at the first time of asking, Palace for my career it is.
  20. I like Russell Brand a lot, but then lots don't, he's just one of those people who divide followers between love and hate, I don't think I've ever met anyone who simply doesn't mind him. He's had TV shows, but to be honest they're very hit and miss as they don't really cater to what he's best at. Anyway, they're all on YouTube, Re:Brand was the show he made while on heroin and having a mental breakdown, then there's Russell Brand's Got Issues, Ponderland. His documentary on Jack Kerouac was quite good. I would recommend his radio shows on BBC Radio 2 (which you can download on the Radio 2 website), just him and his friend Matt allowed to just chat about whatever they want which suits his style much better. Alone and in stand up he lacks having someone there to play off - essentially he needs a 'straight man' for reactions to his antics. The book is also pretty good, again, if you're a fan. Mostly it's tails of the things he got up to while on various drugs, which are split largely into one of three categories: sleeping with women/prostitutes, being fired from TV shows, getting beaten up.

In lieu of the manwash we tried the swimming pool a couple years ago, not quite the same effect. Swim in underwear in what has become somewhat muddy water, get out. Queue for about half an hour for a shower, dry under a hand dryer.

If they'll wash my hair, and if I can find the fucking thing (the only time I did last year was gone midnight, it was shut) then it's worth a go. The girlfriend can watch and lament the non-existance of the Reading Radox Lady Spa.

I've never been through that, how thorough is the wash? And based on the answer of that question. Lynx Manwash Girls: prostitutes?

I'll get into some kind of polling now for those who are going/have been. Where do you normally camp? 2006 I went for Brown, it was quite far away (I was late, not much else on offer) which was good for sleeping and not being bothered when you don't want to be, but the walk back to the tent is a pain in arse. 2007 stayed in yellow, seems to be where everything is happening. Sadly I was opposite the toilets = poo smell for the duration of my stay. Suppose there's no use planning a spot as it'll be camp wherever, but will probably opt for the more busy green or yellow if I have the choice...and the camps don't get flooded again - which I don't think they will this time around.
