    Fight Club

Is the book worth reading once you've seen the movie though? I ask because Fight Club is the only other Chuck Pahlaniuk book that appeals to me, having read Lullaby, which is awesome by the way.
  2. Why the need to play 4-4-2? If England do have such a lack of decent left sided players, why not switch to 3-5-2? Obvioulsy it won't happen, but it could, and possibly should. The team could be something like: GK: Robinson CB: Ferdinand CB: Campbell CB: Terry RWB: Wright-Phillips LWB: Ashley Cole MF: Beckham MF: Gerrard MF: Lampard CF: Rooney/Defoe/Owen, and combination of the 2. This way, not only is the need for 2 left sided players gone, but Beckham gets to play in the middle where he is happiest, Wright-Phillips gets a game, and he has played at Right Back so he can defend, and we get to use 3 of the best centre backs in Europe.
  3. Madrid are looking for cheaper players than they used to be, and rumour has it some of the older galacticos may be replaced. The cheaper players, like Gravesen are in theory going toe nable them to sign what they actually need and who Perez thinks they need to sell more shirts.
  4. MOTD can edit highlights to only show certain players producing moments of skill while ignoring similar moments of skill form other players, or showing a goalkeepers mistake, but not a fabulous save. Everton rarely get more than 5 minutes on MOTD, and therefore, the true nature of their performance can be lost, or covered up.
  5. Everton ARE a big club. Not as big as they used to be, I'll give you that, but for history alone Everton have to be considered a big club. Everton's season isn't over, but we will struggle to replace Tommy. I can see Moyes moving for a Right-Winger with Osman switching to the centre where he is more comfortable. That said, Osman's available on a Bosman in July so they best sort him out. Considering Tommy could've walked away for nothing in the summer, £2 million is about what could be expected. He's having a decent season, but is really not what Madrid need. They need a ball winning, defensive midfielder, and the reason Gravesen has been playing so well is because he hasn't had to win the ball and defend; Carsely has been there to do that for him. Maybe that's who Madrid wanted to sign, they do look a like. Looks like I'll need a new sig...
  6. If Gravesen goes, I would love Everton to move for Routledge, with Osman going into the middle, but I'm still holding out hope that Tommy will stay, he said he wants European football, and we're on course to give it to him.
  7. I like Barry Ferguson, from what I've seen he looks a good player. Callum Davenport has gone to Southampton on loan, and they've also taken Alex Nyarko and Abel Xavier on trial, or so I heard. As if they weren't in enough trouble, they sign the weakest 6'+ centre midfielder I've seen and a defender who is only good for comedy value (Xavier, not Davenport). Les Ferdinand is also supposed to be on his way in.
  8. Bent hasn't faded at all. He has been playing really well and working hard, but playing on his own leave him isolated, even with 4 midfielders supporting him. When the ball is cleared, they take to long to get level with him, or Graveson tries to launch a quick counter-attack and when its Bent vs. two centre backs, he has no chance. He would benefit from either a strike partner, or another, more cerative centre-midfielder who will force the play, instead of waiting for something to happen like our current crop of midfielders tend to do. Graveson to Real? Word is they are looking for players on the cheap for the summer to allow them to sign a big name they actually need, and the form Graveson has been in has been excellent. When he's good, he's very good, but when he's bad, he's bloody awful. Very pleased with Beattie, just hope he passes a medical. Can't help feeling we've been here before with Sean Davis. I wouldn't be suprised to see either Bent move to the right-wing, a change in formation, or Bent used more as a substitute, brought on to run at tired defences for the last 30 minutes.
  9. Doug Ellis reckons we've also bid for Beattie, and The Daily Mail reckon he wnats to join us. Personally, I'd rather have Yakubu for the same price. And yeah, Berbatov is seriously unlikely, but then so was Everton being 4th at New Years Day. We do have Graveson, Carsely, Li Tie, Cahill and Osman who can play centre midfield, but Carsely is only good when he doesn't have to attack and Graveson blows hot and cold, and if he doesn't sign a contract then we'll need a midfielder desperatly. And as for Li Tie...he works hard, but he isn't creative enough to be an attacking midfielder and isn't strong enough to be a defensive midfielder, so I can't see him getting many games.
  10. So far, Everton have been linked with... James Beattie Robbie Keane Scott Parker Leighton Baines Darren Bent Dan Harding Dean Ashton Yakubu Olivier Bernard Dimitar Berbatov And one or two others i can't remember. We need a striker, a central midfielder, a centre back and either a left or right back. And maybe a goalkeeper, Richard Wright worries me.
  11. I'm with Pigeon on the "Sign on..." chants, and also when other teams sing "You'll Never Walk Alone". I hate that. And also, Liverpool had a shocker of a chant at the derby. To the tune of La Bamba (or is it La Cucaracha?), the chant lists all of the Spanish players at Liverpool, with the exception of Josemi, but that might be because he's shit. There are certain songs that should stay away from football. That is one of them. EDIT: Not strictly a chant, but any set of fans that has "novelty" fans, e.g Liverpool's Badge Man, Mr Portsmouth etc. give me another reason to be happy I support Everton. Same goes for fans with instruments/bands, and I am including England in that.
  12. Join with me Tom... "Moyes, Moyes, Davie Davie Moyes, he's got red hair but we don't care, Davie Davie Moyes". I always rated that Lee Carsely.
  13. Bob Dylan: Blonde On Blonde Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experianced? Nirvana: Nevermind Oasis: (What's The Story) Morning Glory REM: Automatic For The People The Beatles: Sgt. Peppers, or The White Album The Clash: London Calling U2: The Joshua Tree White Stripes: Elephant
  14. Is that any consolation, considering a team with a previously excellent defensive record has conceded 8 in there last two games? I'd rather Everton carried on being strong at the back and pretty quiet up front than concede and score loads.
  15. I second Muddas comments. This series has been disappointing, but I couldn't not watch incase something excellent happened. I was really enjoying the last episode, but the ending wasn't that good.
  16. Sad news, he was a legend, one of the games greats and was rarely mentioned as one. I had the highest respect for him, and there aren't many Liverpool players that I can say that about.
  17. Was I the only one who thought the second Rollercoaster Tycoon was nowhere near as good as the first? I hope the new one will be as good as the original.
  18. Sepp Blatter has been talking about giving Oceania an automatic place for years. Whether it's happened or not, I don't know.
  19. Even if they have, they shouldn't. When New Zealand is the hardest game you have to play, you don't deserve getting into the World Cup straight away. Playing a South American or Asian team is the right thing to do.
  20. The above post is exactly why Oceania should not have automatic entry into the World Cup. But thats another debate. I remember Everton beating Southampton 7-0 a few years back. That was when Saints where even worse than they are now (remember Ken Monkou? How bad was he?), but somehow managed to stay up.
  21. There was a game in Africa, when one team scored 100+ own goals in a protest, i think. Not sure if the game was recognised by FIFA though.
