    Music

Well current music doesn't really appeal to me, and there are only 3 albums this year I want. Avril's next album coming out in a couple weeks, Sum 41's album coming out Summer, and Chinese Democracy, which I pray comes out 2007. To be honest, I can't even name 1 song that came out from January 2007 to now.
  2. MCR are a band I want to hate, but after listening to their albums, they're actually half decent. I was really hoping the albums would be shit, too. blink 182 I find great, much better than Green Day. Nothing Green Day has ever done comes close to 'Enema of the State'. blink are a band I can see being remembered for years to come. Though blink came out in the 90's, so not really important to this conversation. Sum 41 are one of my favourite current bands, though I'm not sure if they're be remembered in 10 years time. I hope they are, though.
  3. Led Zeppelin - Coda: 7/10 -T'was fairly good, but poor by Led Zeppelin standards. Just never anything really great on it. Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions: 9/10 -It kinda dragged on here and there, but what do you expect for 2+ hours. The live version of 'Stairway to Heaven' was incredible, I like it even more than the studio version. The long version of 'Dazed and Confused', the first 'Communication Breakdown' and 'Immigrant Song' were some of the highlights.
  4. Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home: 9/10 Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited: 9.5/10 Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde: 9/10 I'm kinda surprised that I like Bob Dylan. I thought he'd be too country to my liking.
  5. 300: 8.5/10 It's not rare for movies to be criticized for relying too much on action and not focusing on plot. Well, I think the opposite way for 300. I felt they tried too hard to have a good plot, and really all that was needed was the action. The fight scenes in this movie are amazing, beautiful in their own way. But the 'dialogue scenes' ; the scenes that further the plot are what drag the movie down. Some scenes I admit were needed and were interesting, but many do drag on. If this movie was just a 2 hour fight scene, it could have been the greatest movie of the decade. Fast Food Nation: 5.5/10 Film started pretty bad, around 1hour in it slowly got better. The story revolving around Amber was pretty good. Though the stories about the foreigners and the vice president of the company I found to be pretty dull. And the lack of endings of each story was a major disappointment. Stranger Than Fiction: 8/10 I've never liked Will Ferrell, or any of his movies for that matter. Until I saw this, that is. This is just a great movie. It's not like any other film I've watched, very original. I found it engaging and unpredictable. And Will Ferrell's performance is great in this.
  6. After watching it, I can say this is gonna be the first GTA game with good graphics. It looked pretty good, though I've seen a lot better from next-Gen. I wouldn't mind playing this game, the trailer is pretty good.
  7. I didn't care too much for Liberty City. It's an alright city. It's a lot better than San Andreas though. Though Vice City is superior to them all.
  8. Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe: 8/10 -A great hard rock album. Contains one of my favourite intros to an album ever. 'Dragula', 'Superbeast', 'Living Dead Girl' and 'Demonoid Phenomenon' are the highlights. Rob Zombie - American Made Music To Strip By: 7.5/10 -Very good, but just unnecessary. Rob Zombie - The Sinister Urge: 8/10 -The songs aren't as well known as the ones on Hellbilly Deluxe, but their just as good. 'Never Gonna Stop', 'Feel So Numb', and 'Scum of the Earth' are the highlights. Rob Zombie - Educated Horses: 7.5/10 -'Foxy Foxy', '17 Year Locust', 'American Witch', and 'Scorpion Sleeps' are all great songs. The 2 instrumentals are decent, but kind of slow the album down. The remaining 5 songs are pretty good.
  9. Pink Floyd - Meddle: 7.5/10 Kind of a let down. Of the 6 songs, there's not one that's really superb. 'One of these days' is probably the best song on the album, it's great. 'A pillow of winds', 'Fearless' and 'San Tropez' are all pretty good. 'Seamus' is mediocre, the weakest song on the album. 'Echoes' was good but let me down. I love 'Shine on you crazy diamond' so I now Floyd can do really long songs that are amazing. But 'Echoes' has many boring moments.
  10. Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn: 9.5/10 I wasn't expecting early Pink Floyd to be this awesome. Lyrically, this one of my favourite albums. Very light hearted, very fun to listen to. 'Bike' is my 2nd favourite Floyd song (just behind 'Comfortably Numb'), it's just amazing.
  11. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey When I think of 'guilty pleasures' this is one movie that comes to mind. The storyline is ridiculous, the acting isn't that great, the dialogue is cheesy, and yet I can't call this movie anything other than awesome. It's been 5 years since I've seen this movie, and I really should watch it more often. 7.5/10
  12. Not one of her better songs, it's not terrible though. I still prefer it to most mainstream music today. I like that she's going for a 'fun' direction, but this doesn't seem like Avril at all. I'll buy her album when it comes out, and I hope there's at least a few quality songs.
  13. The Covenant: 3/10 The fight scenes seemed to be a combination of Dragon Ball Z and The Matrix. Bridge to Terabithia: 7/10 An enjoyable movie, faithful to the book. Rocky VI: 7/10 Much better than V, a suitable ending to the series.
  14. A sequel to 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors'. A GOOD sequel, 'Ghoul Patrol' was awful. And a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger. I love Chrono Cross and all, but I want a game that continues the story of Crono and the gang from the first game.
  15. Albums I heard recently: Pulp Fiction Soundtrack: 9/10 Reservoir Dogs Soundtrack: 9.5/10 My Chemical Romance: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love: 6/10 My Chemical Romance: Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge: 6.5/10 Since MCR's popularity blowout in 2004, I never paid much attention to them. Didn't care for 'em, and I finally decided I'd give their albums a try. They're better than I thought, but still nothing great. I'm by no means a fan of MCR, but I do like several of their songs. And I do plan to listen to 'Black Parade' next, but only cause it was inspired by 'The Wall'.
  16. ..Ho..ho..how can you not like "Girlfriend"? Alright, I see how people can hate that song. I kinda like it, but only cause I'm a fan of Avril's. I can see how anyone else would hate the song. I never heard of half the bands you mentioned, but then again, I don't keep up with current music (as of now there's only a handful of bands I like that are active). I like 3 Doors Down though.
  17. Pokemon leads to people taking hobos off the street and forcing them to fight each other. And sometimes animals.
  18. .....Oooh, I thought you got 91%, not a 91 IQ. That makes me feel slightly happier.
  19. After seeing what everyone else got, I feel ashamed of my average IQ.
  20. Any Canadians here take the CBC "IQ: Test The Nation" thing? I'm 15 so my results were not perfectly accurate, but I got 104 IQ. Kinda what I was expecting really. I know I'm far from being a genius. Though I'm a math genius, scoring 11/12 in that category.
  21. I was really bored today, so listened to around half a dozen albums. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III: 9/10 Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here: 9.5/10 Blink 182 - Cheshire Cat: 7/10 Blink 182 - Dude Ranch: 8/10 Sum 41 - All Killer No Filler: 8.5/10 Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon: 10/10 Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy: 9.5/10
  22. I was about the same when I started off. I used to just mess around with the effects. Over time, you'll learn. I give it 5/10 for a 2nd banner.
  23. Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction Superb album. Some of the standout songs are "Paradise City", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "It's So Easy" and "My Michelle". The album opens with "Welcome to the Jungle", I song I really don't care for. It's massively overrated, and isn't even one of GNR's 15 best songs. The last few songs on the album aren't that great either, "Rocket Queen" is pretty good though. 9/10 Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I Even better than Appetite for Destruction. "Don't Cry" is an amazing song, easily one of the bands best. And "November Rain" ranks as my 3rd favourite song of all time. The album starts off rocking, with "Right Next Door To Hell", "Dust and Bones", and "Live and Let Die". Though (like Appetite for Destruction) some of later songs are a let down compared to the earlier ones. "Dead Horse", "Don't Damn Me", and "Garden of Eden" aren't that great. 9/10 Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion II "Civil War", "Yesterdays", "Knockin' On Heaven's Door", and the alternate "Don't Cry" are all great songs that alone make this album a must-buy. Although it's not of the quality of UYI1. Around 1/3 of the album features some alright (yet forgettable) songs. "Locomotive" and "Estranged" are example of this. Although the songs that are good do kind of make up for it. 8/10
  24. Ghostrider: 2/10 Terrible, terrible movie. Acting was not good. I usually like Nicholas Cage, but he was very bad in this movie. The CGI was abysmal. The actual Ghostrider looked like it came out of an N64 game. Though, along with Happy Feet this is easily of the greatest unintentional comedies I've watched. Only watch this movie if you want to laugh at it all way through.
