  1. My gripe with the situation was that refs were told before to play on unless it was a facial /head injury. Minutes before he stopped a Utd attack, in the final third, when Ballack got trod on. Evra went down holding his face and when Chelsea attacked he allowed them to carry it on. It's what makes the rule a farce and just plain stupid. That said, I'm glad it was won by a shootout and not an 'incident' because the game itself was very enjoyable, unlike most Chelsea-United games. What the ref should have done, would have been to stop the game straight away, even with United playing the advantage with it being a face injury. Stop the play, let Evra have his treatment, old school drop ball would be the way I would have played the event. Although I don't see how United fans can be complaining, if you had went on to score from that incident, then their is no way you would be saying that the game should have been stopped due to an injury. You played on the ref didn't stop you, Chelsea intercepted, the ref didn't stop them.
  2. I see the list of things Johnny hates has lengthened, now including Peter Crouch and Spurs alongside Scottish people
  3. I still think that with a better challenge to his number one jersey that Boruc will get better, and with Zaluska as his number two, Boruc will be different class this year. Every keeper makes mistakes, but with a worthy replacement, Boruc will show how good a keeper he is, as he knows he can be replaced at any time (as Zaluska is a very good keeper.)
  4. Aye it's my real birthday in my profile. I don't know if I want to know whether you thought I was older or not!

  5. Hopefully we see the Haddin - Clarke partnership continue for a while tomorrow, and we get to see the Aussies get the victory.
  6. I would agree that the show took a bit of a hit in quality after the Daphne/Niles episode at the end of season seven. However, I don't agree that things went exceptionally bad and as you say "almost painful to watch". For me Frasier was one of the only shows which can have a bad season and then bounce back and be nearly as good as it was in the opening seasons. Frasier's bad season was season eight, however, that still featured some classic episodes, with "Cranes Unplugged" where Frasier, Martin and Frederick go on the camping trip, "Motor Skills" when Frasier and Niles take a mechanic class and "Docu. Drama" with Roz's space documentary, and Niles' kite. However, after that season nine onwards was really good. Even thinking about the season ten episode where Frasier does Freddie's Bar Mitzvah and thinks he is doing it in Jewish, even though he's doing it in Klingon, and Martin's camera has the brightest flash ever, still makes me laugh.
  7. So this appears to be the topic where we (or YI himself) posts reviews of gigs we have attended, and so here I go with mine. This may not fit into the current crop of reviews we have had, as my band are not new, they're not funky, they're not underground, they're not indie, they're not whatever the hell you guys like to review in here. So here goes (and I will shamelessly steal YI's format ): Date: July 4th, 2009 Venue: Hampden Park - Glasgow Gig: The Eagles (Support - Paul Carrack) We started the show at 7 on a hot Scottish evening ( ) with Paul Carrack of Mike And The Mechanics and Squeeze fame, and this was a very welcomed surprise as I have been a fan of his for a while now, due mostly to his Mike and the Mechanics numbers. Carrack treated us to a good seven songs, some from his new album, before getting to his older stuff (Living Years, Looking Back Over My Shoulder, Another Cup Of Coffee). Awesome performance from one of my favourite singers and easily one of the best songwriters I have came across (alongside The Eagles, Jim Steinman and Bruce Springsteen). Then around eight, The Eagles appeared and went straight into one of their hits from the Long Road Out Of Eden album - How Long. Easily my favourite song off the new album, and Don Henley and Glenn Frey's voices were top notch. We then got an introduction, with Frey stating that they are "The Ancient ones, the band that wouldn't die. We're from when the Dead Sea was just sick". I Don't Want To Hear Any More followed, another from the new album. Then we got right into the old stuff with the "Credit Card" song third to be played in Take It To The Limit. A crowd pleaser it sure was, as the full stadium sang the chorus which was amazing. Joe Walsh's first song of the night, Guilty of the Crime was next. Next came the trumpet solo, followed by the guitar line that is world renowned. That of Hotel California, easily one of the greatest musical pieces in history, with Henley at the top of his game, and Walsh hitting the famous solo at the end of the song with perfection. We then had the perfect mix of Henley and Frey's "Classic Eagles" songs, Timothy B Schimdt "newer album songs" and Joe Walsh's crazy and extremely funny solo work. Joe Walsh while easily being one of the greatest guitar players ever, is also one of the funniest, and his antics through the entire set kept me entertained for the full two and a half hours. On a whole I loved the performance, everything was just as I expected, four musically gifted singers and guitarists, doing what they do best. They probably aren't in it for the money now, and just want to please their mass of fans and they do that perfectly. Also Don Henley must be the only singer I know who plays the drums and sings at the same time. Anyway I'll let you get back to your normal reviews, at least until Tuesday, when I go and see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Hampden. To sign off I'll leave you with The Eagles set list: How Long I Don't Want To Hear Any More Take It To The Limit Guilty Of The Crime Hotel California Peaceful Easy Feeling I Can't Tell You Why Witchy Woman Lyin' Eyes One Of These Nights Walk Away Boys Of Summer In The City Long Run Life's Been Good (If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favour and watch this: Joe Walsh At His Best Dirty Laundry Funk#49 Heartache Tonight Encore: Life In The Fast Lane Rocky Mountain Way Desperado
  8. Fuck you Johnny! The final on Sunday was amazing and easily one of the best Wimbledon finals. Roddick played his best tennis, while Federer was superb as usual. The whole tournament on a whole was brilliant though, from the early upsets, to the five set thrillers, each and every day had an awesome match.
  9. Sorry I must have misread the topic. So we are looking for the trophy that looks the best, while having some history behind it, yes? If that's the case then I'm going for this:
  10. Just to add something new into the equation which will probably be ignored by everyone. But for me the biggest rivalry in sport has to be the Ryder Cup, and therefore it is in my eyes, between Europeans and North Americans, the best trophy that you can gain in the world. Controversy is found nearly every time the competition is played (every two years). Whether it be The War On The Shore in '91 or the Battle of Brookline '99, the Ryder Cup shows the passion that runs between both sets of players and fans, in what is widely known as a gentleman's game. I don't know, maybe it isn't a World Cup or a Stanley Cup, but for me the Ryder Cup is the best three days in the sporting calendar (outside supporting my own football team).
  11. I'm hoping he gets his money back, cause I've bought tickets as well and will be looking for a refund
  12. Hey you've got Killie before the Celtic game at Tynecastle. Knowing our record there, that could be a tougher game than the Rangers game at home
  13. Spoilers for Hitman - Pacman match result: Spoiler: Click here to viewAfter watching Pacman just destroy Hatton, I really now want to see him against Mayweather. That would be one of the greatest matches ever I believe. I also can't believe I stayed up till 5AM for that!
  14. I know that the POTY awards only have six nominations each, but Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill from Everton have both been different class this season and in my opinion shouldbe in instead of a few of the United players (VDS and Giggs).
  15. I enjoyed it. It lacked the quality of Series IV through VI, however there was a few moments where you could see some of the humour coming back. Chris Barrie was as funny as ever, and it is no wonder that Series VII is the worst of all the series' with him only being in four episodes. The reference to the "I'm Gonna Eat You Little Fishes" had me marking out a bit, and getting Kochanski back on our screens is always a good thing , especially when it's just for those short moments and she isn't trying to replace Rimmer. Overall, very enjoyable for what it was.
  16. Bruce Springsteen (12) - Working On A Dream, Magic, Born In The USA, Born To Run, Nebraska, The River, Darkness On The Edge Of Town, The Rising, Tunnel Of Love, Essential Bruce Springsteen, Ghost Of Tom Joad and The Wild, The Innocent And The E-Street Shuffle. Meat Loaf (9) - Bat Out Of Hell 1, Bat Out Of Hell II (Back Into Hell), Bat Out Of Hell III (The Monster Is Loose), Bad Attitude, Dead Ringer, Welcome To The Neighbourhood, Couldn't Have Said It Better, Hits Out Of Hell and Midnight at the Lost and Found. The Eagles (7) - Hotel California, Long Road Out Of Eden, Very Best, One Of These Nights, Eagles, Desperado, The Long Run Billy Joel (6) - The Stranger, An Innocent Man, 52nd Street, Storm Front, Glass Houses, Streetlife Serenade Aerosmith (4) - O Yeah! Ultimate Hits, Rocks, Toys In The Attic, Big Ones
  17. It has to happen sometime though
  18. £2 on Tim Clark at 80/1 to win the entire competition, cracking bet if I do say so myself. Although it does look as if Tiger may be the one that will win it
  19. Chris Samba - Greatest striker in the Rovers team Cracking result though.
  20. Barrichello was faster than Button wasn't he? People seem to be jumping on Button to win, but I reckon Barrichello could sneak it, just for being the more experienced (and better ) driver out of the two. Although if anything, I would rather Rosberg won it.
  21. I'm a mid range better, which is my own term for someone who isn't addicted or putting on a couple of hundred a week, but not a guy who puts a stake on once or twice a year. Basically I have one football coupon on a week, horses I'm not betting every day, I just look for the big races (Cheltenham, Royal Ascot, The Derby, Glorious Goodwood, Grand National) and put a pound on each big race on the card. Made quite a bit at Cheltenham this year, fifty pound profit I think. I then also have a pound on the four majors in the Golf, with it usually being someone between 20/1 and 100/1. Golfing is one of these sports where you are always unlikely to pick a winner, but when you do get one, it is well worth it.
  22. Probably my least favourite player in the current Killie team Anyway, David Fernandez: Like metalman said he always plays with a smile on his face and looks like he enjoys just playing football. Also elbowed an Ayr player in the face, you can't ask for much more than that Alan Combe: Easily the best goalkeeper we've had since the days of Lekovic, and easily the most inconsistent since Lekovic. But it just provides to the entertainment, as he makes a cracking save one moment, and then lets the ball through his legs the next. And you can't beat a good old Coooooooooommmmmbbbeeee shout (in the style of the Ruuuuudddd shout) whenever he makes a save. Manuel Pascali: Like all Italians he is extremely passionate, kicks lumps out of the other players, jumps into the crowd when we score, became captain after only a few months with us. Gavin Skelton: Looks like a jakie that we've pulled off the street, but is easily one of our better players, and always shows some passion and fight when playing. Simon Ford: I will always love Ford, basically because he pisses my brother off so much! Slowest player to get back when attacking a corner, showboats at the back when he has two men on him and isn't a very skillful player. But this isn't about best players, this is about favourite and Fordy is immense at pissing everyone off, making him one of my favourites.
  23. Wait, you don't like the fact that the team who win the league are the team that finish first? I thought the whole point of a league system was to find out who the best team were to win the Championship. Finishing first makes you (on most occasions) the best team in the league, meaning you should be the winners. I don't get what you mean with the season never ending, with the MLS ending in November with the MLS cup before going on a pre-season till March.
  24. Well how can you say that anyone who thought they might have won hadn't watched them enough. I don't care whether they have been average or not in the past few seasons, I have watched them the past few months and they have been different class. The killer for them tonight was losing that early goal, which in my opinion shouldn't have counted (but hey, I would have gave a penalty for Blackburn against United at Old Trafford), for the fact that Raul did it at the other end and had a foul given against him. The second was never a penalty. Going in then at 0-0 at half time would have gave Real that boost they needed, they fell apart after conceding the goals knowing they weren't going to get the win. Man United, Barca, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter, Lyon, Bayern, Juve. They are the only teams that I would class as better than Real just now, I may not even class Juve as better considering how well Real are doing in the league. That's only eight, if you class Arsenal as being better on current form then I will completely ignore your point Failing that I can't see how you can get ten. What Real are doing just now is going through a rebirthing experience. They have basically got rid of the Galactico image and moved on to bringing in younger players. Hell their average age out there tonight was about 22 outside of Cannavaro and Heinze. In a few years with the right manager, this team will be once again one of the best in the world.
