  1. What he said. Can I dare hope that this'll mean no ridiculous wait for the last two parts of the series? Like, Vi, Vii pt 1 and Vii pt. 2 all in one year or so?
  2. Wow... I can remember getting really worked up about that show - I even stopped the review when the kid was in 'trouble' and Treguard was going nuts. The only bad thing about the show to my mind was when the kid doing the actual physical stuff fell down a hole, 'cos that was always such a rubbish effect. Did anyone ever actually win? It always seemed like they'd get through about two or three shows each time, and then there'd be some sort of jump and the kid in the helmet would fall in. And long, long after the show went off the air I found a couple of the CYOAdventure books based on it, and found out that no-one ever took the sword/knife/whatever other weapon because they'd lose if they did - but one of the items available was always a weapon. And I never knew why they never took it... But yeah - great TV.
  3. I missed the first few minutes, but yeah, it's perfectly watchable. And I thought that was Will Mellor. Given that I've never watched an epsiode of Hollyoaks or Casualty (was it Casualty he was in?) I'm disgusted with myself that I immediately recognised him. And as for recognition, who was the maid that got killed by the witch thing? I'm sure I've seen her in stuff before. Oh, and Eve Myles was also in Torchwood on BBC HD at the same time - which made me wonder why this wasn't HD as well (and, for that matter, why Dr. Who isn't?)
  4. Seriously, unless you have a BIG TV (like, 50 or more inces) it's worth seeing in the cinema. Go alone to an early showing and our coke on the seats around you to get some space to yourself. If you have any interest in Batman/Joker/Harvey Dent... Go and see this film.
  5. Fuck yes. Large amounts of Batman Forever make my personal markout list. Yes it's garish, campy and daft - but so is Jack Sparrow. Seeing Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face made me into suck a mark for him... I'm amazed that no-one's mentioned the lobby scene in the Matrix yet. Or are people sick to death of it now? Darth maul - Double-bladed lightsabre Also, Yoda drawing his lightsabre with the Force Heath Ledger's entire Dark Knight performance is going to be up there soon - but also from DK I liked Cillian Murphy's two second Scarecrow cameo. Having Ron Burgundy turn out to actually be a reaosdnable human being and killer flautist in Anchorman was something I didn't see coming - so the whole scene in the club and then the fantastic sex scene really made a fan out of me. Two from Dodgeball - the whole Lance Armstrong scene went over the heads of everyone I saw it with, but I was laughing my head off. And then at the end, with the foul throw, and how it was the exact same rule the fat guy had explained in detail - but in the background - about fifteen minutes earlier... Perfect payoff. And from Iron Man, when Pepper walks in on Stark and he says something like "Oh, this isn't anywhere near the worst thing you've caught me doing". Just brilliant.
  6. Caesar Romero for me. I've been working my way through the Animated Series (that's the 90s one, right? Not the more recent one) but don't think I've seen any of the Joker episodes, so can't really comment as I've not seen any more recently than maybe ten years ago. Jack Nicholson was... Jack Nicholson. It wasn't exactly acting - it was just Jack in makeup. Robin Williams would have been a better choice, I think, as was rumoured for a long time before Nicholson was chosen.
  7. Rooney has played for England, of late, the exact same way he plays for United. We don't have a Ronaldo or Tevez to play alongside him, though.
  8. JENNA What? I'll grant you that she wouldn't make my top ten (or fifty) but she's fit, not plastic, and there's something about the older woman... She also reminds me of Daisy Donovan in that second pic, and that's not a bad thing ^_^ Rihanna, though? I'd ask who she shagged to get on the list, but...
  9. CM Punk getting kissed by Maria and Mickie James, apparently backstage at an OVW show.

Massive fan. Got the first five series for Xmas, the last five are coming for my b'day in a coupla weeks. I can't really choose favourites, as I go through phases with them. I always thought of Joey as unsophisticated rather than necessarily unintelligent, as he has his moments. Chandler had moments of self-parody, but the scene where he walks in on Joey and Ross talking dirty to each other is my favourite scene in any show or movie - ever. As for the girls... Monica was the character who annoyed me the most, but she still had her moments. Phoebe could be really funny, when she wasn't being weird for the sake of being funny. I thought she had real chemistry with Mike. Rachel had the biggest emotional arc, looking back. As for Ross... I really like him in the early series, but around the time he breaks up with Rachel he descends into a nutjob loon that he doesn't entirely break out of until him and Rachel have a kid together, like five years later. Although I do like him, I just can't watch some of his stuff from this time. Anyone have a standout favourite episode? I think I have to go for TOW The East German Laundry Detergent, if only for Chandler breaking up with Janice...
  11. The Torchwood employee killed by the Cybermen has been retconned into being Martha Jones' cousin. Never mentioned on-screen though, as far as I remember. Possibly it's a tidbit that'll come up when TW series 2 begins, as Martha's moving to that show. And the return of Rose doesn't necessarily mean our Rose comes back - an alternate Rose whose life took a different path and who's very different could be fascinating. Rose with a goatee, anyone? Oh, and the other Time Lord is presumably the Rani... Joan Collins and Zoe Lucker have both been linked, and Kate O'Mara has said she'll return. Collins could be fun. I'd love to see Kate Winslet do it - but she's a bit too big for TV nowadays, really...
  12. So, I've been learning guitar for the last year or so, and I've kind of plateaud, skill wise. I can play most of the major, minor and 7th chords, but no bar chords (so no F or B). My father-in-law and brother-in-law are both very talented guitarists, and I have a couple of friends who can show off when the moment arises, so I'd like to have some tricks of my own. I figure that I can do this one of two ways: * Being able to play lots of songs - but I already have the chords for over a hundred classic/well known/current songs in a folder, so unless I'm missing out on anything ridiculously obvious, I'm probably not going to gain many points here. * Getting better - I went to a tutor for about a year, and didn't progress very far. Virtually everything I've learnt is stuff that I tought myself, and I've runt out of stuff to teach me. If anyone has any tips for progressing, I'd love to hear them. If it helps, I mostly play chart/rock stuff - U2, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, David Gray... Basically, stuff with a guitar in it that you don't need to practise five hours a day for ten years to get the hang of I'm not very ambitious...
  13. A while back I got a hankering for some retro gaming, so I hit eBay to pick up some of the stuff I needed to get my SNES up and running again. Unfortunately, with new controllers, games and leads, I sat down for an evening's gaming only for the fuse to blow in the console itself, so I had to get a second-hand SNES as well. I set it all up last night, but it seems like the connectors on the console are dirty. I tried various games, but the most I got on-screen was the Nintendo logo on one game - so at least I know it's kinda working, and the cartridges don't seem to be the problem. I've blown on the connectors, and used damp/dry cotton buds to wipe them down as well, but it's not worked. Someone on another forum suggested compressed air. Anyone here have any tips that might work?
  14. Yes, loved those games. Played the first two, but when the third game came out my computer couldn't play it. Genius humour throughout.
  15. Midway through the 2010/11 season with Spurs, having finished in the top three for all but one season, and actually wining the Prem once as well. My best players are Tevez, Messi and Pedretti. Pedretti was free, but Tevez has cost me about £40M as I had to re-buy him after he skipped off on a free at the end of the thrid season, the sod. I can still field a full team from my starting squad - but players like Jermaine Jenas, Andy Reid and Stephen Kelly are pretty much backups. I've trying to sign Shevchenko for £2M plus ridiculous performance incentives. The fee would end up around £8M if he scored all the goals/made all the appearances - but he won't. He's 34 now - anyone know if he's still worth it? I'm also looking at Ronaldinho, who's gone off the boil at Barca. He's 30 and available for about £9M - any thoughts? My team: GK: P. Robinson/K. Schmeichel DL: Jay McEveley DC: J.Woodgate/M. Dawson DC: L. King DR: A. van den Borre/S. Kelly ML: R. van der Vaart/A. Reid MC: B. Pedretti/O. Hargreaves MC: M. Carrick/J. Jenas MR: T. Soares/M.Noble SC: R. Keane/L. Messi SC: J. Defoe/C. Tevez
  16. UFO: Enemy Unknown. It's a crime that I can't get it to run on my system - I'm telling my girlfriend I want a laptop to do uni work on when I move into her flat, but it's just so I can play that game. Anyway, Transport Tycoon, Colonization and the Civilization series all low MB goodness. If you can find Sam and Max Hit The Road, you're in for a treat as well. Also excellent is the Sim City series - I'd say that 2000 was best, although 3000 is a lot prettier, and larger. No Arcologies or newspapers, though.
  17. America, Japan, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Korea and Sweden. Start in the US or Brazil.
  18. Just started playing FM again today after finishing off my dissertation last week. I remember last time I played, my team was struggling a little, but I'm steamrolling teams right now. I got sacked as manager of England, though. Who the hell cares about the Confederations Cup? I won Euro 2008, went undefeated as England manager (except for a loss to Norway in a friendly), and finally lost to Argentina in the first round of the CC with a fluke loss. And I got sacked. The hell? But then, Sven got sacked after not making it out of the first round in 2007, so maybe I shouldn't be too surprised. But my Spurs team are doing well as the 2010/11 season starts. We're top after four games, three wins and a draw. We drew with Wigan after having two men injured when we'd used all our subs, and have yet to concede in the Prem with even ten men on the pitch, let alone eleven. We also just tonked Chelsea in the Super Cup, 3-1. And we have Tevez out injured right now... I've just signed Leo Messi, with a view to having an all Argentine forward line if I can train him to play up front properly. We've also bought and sold Robinho, who was frankly useless. In five seasons, I've been second three times and won it once - although after the win we finished fifth  We've also got a UEFA Cup, and FA Cup and a League Cup, as well as the Super Cup and a couple of Community Shields as well.
  19. Airwolf was genius. The heliopter ended up as an air ambulance, and crashed eventually. Sad... A-Team was brilliant as a kid, but I reckon it'd be worth watching an episode or two now for the performances, rather than the storyline. Murdoch was the man... Land of the Giants/Lost in Space... Well, yeah. They were trying to be Star Trek without actually being sci-fi, werent they? What was the deal with LotG, anyway? Were they on a ship or something? I like the new Doctor Who. Dalek was a good episode, imo, and it was cool that they did a thing where the Dalek absorbing Rose turned the Dalek more human. Would have been brilliant if that had made it even more viscious, mind And Queen Victoria + werewolf has a chance of being as good as (wait for it) Snakes... On A Plane!
