  2. My dad spent thirty years working regular night shifts on the Underground, and apparently he did see some odd things. As he puts it, though, it's a lot worse trying to cope when someone's thrown themselves under a train (particularly if they're still alive and you're trying to get to them with the train still right above you) then seeing or hearing someonthing that's probably just a loose poster or a cooling piece of track. Still, seems like a worthwhile watch so I'll definitely have to give it a look.
  3. I know this is favourite TV ads, so I'll dig one up to share as well... ...but dear God, has anyone seen the ads for Take a Break (crappy women's magazine)? It's a rip-off of the Halifax random singing ads, but it's just executed so poorly - mainly because they haven't picked a lead singer who can sing. At all. Honestly, it's worse than the DFS Rockstar ads. And this one is just weird.
  4. Bumping because there's not much point in starting a new topic... In the original Star Wars film, when Luke and Obi-Wan enter the cantina there's all those fantastic aliens. I'm sure one of them is in a red space suit, complete with helmet, and has a skull face (not this guy) but I can't find a picture of him anywhere. I could just stick the DVD on and look, but I figured I'd ask here as a last resort that anyone might have the faintest clue what I'm talking about.
  5. Well, it did mean seeing her in bikinis in M&S ads and so on... ...no, I'm lost as well. In fact, given that the list seems to be approximately equal parts a) Celebrities who try and live a normal life, b) Celebrities who try and live like celebrities, and c) Non-entities who try and live like celebrities, it seems that so long as you appear in Heat magazine more than once then you're annoying. Nevertheless, I look forward to high placings for Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross, Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Moyles... And probably the Big Brother lot, the X Factor lot and the Strictly Come Dancing lot (except for John Sergeant, obviously). I don't think any of them especially deserve a high placing, but I would wager that they'd place above that woman who had her daughter kidnapped, which I would actually say was the most annoying thing I've seen in the news this year. Well, except for the whole Brand/Ross/Sachs thing - but can you induct the entire media on the basis of overreaction? /dismounts hobby horse
  6. Looks like Jeff Hardy's twin... And in actual comments on the list, can we expect Jeff Buckley and one/both Gallagher brothers to show up at some point? Otherwise, Elvis, Dionne Warwick... Maybe Tom Jones?
  7. As much as I'm not a Wolverine fan (seriously, if it were just Wolverine I can think of thirty or forty characters I'd rather see) the potential to see this movie and count the spin-off setups is just unmissable. And as a Gambit fanboy, well, unless it's a two hour slash storyline between him and Wolverine, I'm there.
  8. Like Buffy. And Angel. In fact, given the fun Whedon had with X-Men, you could argue that he's found his home in comics. Certainly the Serenity prequel comics were a good read.
  9. Falling in love again is the same chords, just slightly different tempo. There was one single off his second album that I adored, and I keep meaning to pick it up... But it's been six years or so since I last heard it. Made in London - Dirty Water was just a cool song that I liked a hell of a lot when I was younger. I was gutted that the group didn't make it, as it remains one of those songs that I can just listen to on repeat. Mouth - Merril Bainbridge if for no other reason than it was the first song I ever got from Napster. But it's fun and infectious, and I love the plinky plonky piano. And I know that they actually had a lot of songs out, but if there's one song that everyone remembers from They Might Be Giants then it's Birdhouse In Your Soul.
  10. My favourite songs by these two bands - good calls. And the one that springs to mind is At My Most Beautiful by REM. It doesn't seem to have been a big hit, and I'd never heard it before I got the Greatest Hits album, so it baffles me how it's not more popular.
  11. Huh. No e-mail or anything from Microsoft, and I kept forgetting to check the website so I figured I'd be waiting a while for my 360. But today it arrived. I say 'it' but it's a replacement, rather than repair. Had to spend a few minutes connecting/disconnecting/reconnecting the wireless adapter to get it online, but otherwise it seems a lot quieter (higher pitched whirring, but a lot lower volume) and I got a free month of Live as well, which I wasn't expecting... Now all I need is some games to play online Anyway, generally impressed with the whole experience. It would have been nice not to go through it, of course, but it cost me no money and the actual turnaround was about the same as the last time my PC went into the shop for repairs so I'm quite pleased, overall.
  12. Countdown without Vorderman? Weird. But with Geoff Stelling? Weirder - but awesome! The main question is whether that girl (Susie?) will be staying in dictionary corner?
  13. So... assuming that my 360 comes back at some point, this game definitely seems to be getting good reviews. As it's been a couple of years since I played an SD game, I'd like to think I'd be able to pick up the controls without getting too conflicted with previous games, which was one of my big issues when the switch was made from buttons to analog grapples. A couple of questions, though, if someone has time: * Do CAWs start at a competitive level? Or can I expect to start with a 35 point CAW when the lowest superstar is about 75? * Are cruiserweights competitive against larger wrestlers? I don't expect to be trading power moves as Kendrick against Big Show - but being able to hurt him with my big moves would be nice. * Is there a Diva season mode? * Is the commentary any good this year? Thanks for any help!
  14. Bringing up the rear, but MS have confirmed they've received my console. Two days door-to-door isn't bad, I guess. Here's hoping they can get it back as quick - but why do I suspect they don't work weekends?
  15. Star Wars I mean, seriously, watching that intro in a cinema, when the blockade runner and the Star Destroyer come swooping overhead... Nothing to top it.
  16. Despite refusing my card less than an hour before, my automated subscription went through just fine while I was trying to get through to Barclaycard. Some days just don't work properly... Anway, I haven't been to Dalaran yet. I think before I make a concerted effort on Northrend I need to get my skinning and fishing up to a reasonable standard Skinning should be fine - only need to kill another thirty or so things to get there. Fishing... Anyone care to speculate how long it'll take me to get from 80 fishing up to Northrend standard? Still, it's oddly satisfying to have my XP bar - even if I do aim on cracking 80 before Christmas...
  17. I was coming in to say Paiolo Tramezanni or Nicola Berti - but I think Saib takes it. Rasiak has the saving grace of at least getting back the same amount we payed for him in the first place. Postiga never showed his best with us, but he was a decent player. Acimovic, though... Still, Moussa Saib it is. Just awful.
  18. Well, I seem to be a bringer of bad tidings at the moment - my 360 went bust on Saturday, Amazon are saying my debit card won't process and Blizzard won't process either of my credit cards to pay for my subscription. Anyone else having trouble paying for their WoW time in the UK? I tried calling their customer support line, but they're so swamped they're not even taking new people in the queue, apparently. * We had our Realm First 450... Engineer, I think, last night (Hellfire, EU). Just went down to Stormwind harbor for the first time and there were a bunch of high 70s coming off the boat, and I know there's a couple of 80s moping around the server too.
  19. Well, got my 360 picked up today - so in a week or two I can get to experience all this. Apparently UPS are collecting about 5 or 6 a day for repairs just in my area...
  20. The absence of Louis Armstrong, rock era or not, is a nonsense. And while I've never enjoyed anything Lauren Hill recorded, to have Blige and not her is ridiculous. Why not Macy Gray? And I coulda whined about Elvis - but he's at #3 and I'd just missed him...
  21. It's a Wonderful Life is a good Christmas-set film, although not specifically about Christmas Babes in Toyland gets a slating every Christmas over on wrestlecrap. It seems every bit as bad as they make out - and Hogan and Goldberg's efforts are far from great, too.
  22. Add me to the list of unfortunates - my 360 died tonight after two years. Already signed up to get it sent back, but it'll be midweek, I guess, before I get the labels and all that. At least it's free - otherwise I'd be considering paying for a new one. If it's knackered beyond repair, what's the likelihood of me getting a more up to date machine for a replacement? Specifically, one with an HDMI socket on it?
  23. Haven't even got this yet - ordered off Amazon and waiting for the rush to calm down a bit. The missus had to wait twenty minutes to log in the other night, though, so I'm hoping that's died down a bit by the time I install and head off to Northrend. Any auction houses in the new place yet, by the way? One thing that bugged the hell out of me about TBC...
