General Rudie is another good band IMO.

Also if you get the chance, check out Streetlight Manifesto www.streetlightmanifesto.com they are so amazingly talented, but not a lot of people have heard of them, or at least not where I live.

Big ups to whomever said Jersey. Having seen them a few times and met the band, they are fist-pumping pop-punk at it's best.

LIMP WRIST - great alternative queer hardcore band. They did a split with the Pansy Division a while ago, good good band.

MONEEN - math-rock meets emo in an awesome combination. Plus they are Canadian. Better than most of the emo bands out there.

BIS - poppy riot grrl act who was on the Beastie Boys record label, Grand Royal. I really do enjoy these guys.

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 - dance-punk, the next greatest band in the world perhaps? Defintely check these boys out.

More for the non-UK people (most UK rock fans may have heard of these two).

Breed 77 - Metal, with a Spanish twist. Latest album "Cultura" got good reviews pretty much across the board (not EWB, I mean magazines, radio, media, etc). Formed in Gibraltar, but now spend thier time in London. A very good live band.

Amplifier - Pedalling a sound that has been referred to as "space" rock, Amplifier are an excellent new UK band. Thier self titled debut got excellent reviews, and they are apparently a stunning live band.

Thoughts Before Me is definately one of the most compelling songs I've heard.

Anberlin

I mentioned them before but not very much. They are a Christian/Rock band, now I know your all thinking "Oh noes" but fear not, they rock0rz your sock0rz so to speak.

Coheed & Cambria

www.coheedandcambria.com

Most of you will have heard of these, but just incase you haven't, you should. Go, now.

Crossfade

Again, you've most likely heard of them, but if you haven't then these are a really good band.

InMe

www.inmeonline.com

If you haven't heard of them, you'll most likely hate their guts like 99.99% of the board here. But I can hope.

GYS, I've heard of Between the Buried and Me and I like them, great Progressive Metalcore band. Death by Stereo is another great band, as I have one of their albums.

The Evil Us's

-Local band, I've been to some of their shows, not bad. They play Progressive Alternative. The guitar solos are awesome.

Oh.. Bury Your Dead is another great band you all should listen to. Brutal hardcore stuff with some positive lyrics in a few songs, some funny lyrics, and a great style. And their drummer is amazing. And they have a CD with every song named after Tom Cruise movies.

I just picked up the BYD CD "Cover Your Tracks" about a week ago. I agree, and the Tom Cruise song titles is funny shit. Only drawback is that it's too short. Most songs clock in at about 2 minutes and a half, with a few exceptions. Although I'm not complaining because that's perfectly exceptable for Hardcore.

EDIT: Oh, and check out the band A Perfect Murder. 'Timebomb' and 'Possessed' are two songs you should listen to.
