Greatest Rap Album Ever?

Recommended Posts

This may have been asked before but I seriously cant remember it, well not recently anyway. The topic says it all as well. What in your opinion has been the greatest rap album ever? Nothing official here, just an opinion on what you think.

Got to go with Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle' myself. I wouldn't call it a biased opinion either. He's by far my favourite rapper but at the same time, the album speaks for itself. It has brilliance written all over it. Still my favourite debut album from anyone as well. Got the classic 'Gin and Juice' along with 'Who Am I/What's My Name?', two songs that I still consider to be two of the best rap songs of all time. Along with them you got 'Murder Was The Case', 'Lodi Dodi' and so on. All in all hasn't got a single bad song on the album if you ask me.

Straight behind that album has to be Dr Dre's 'The Chronic' album. Got what I regard as the greatest rap song ever, 'Nuthin but a G Thang' on the album plus a tonne of other tunes. Easily up there as one of the best.

Flowzen King shows good taste with the props to Gang Starr, but I gotta go with "Paid in Full" by Eric B. and Rakim. Rakim is an absolute god on the mic, IMHO, up there with Nas, Chuck D., Guru, and LL.

Undoubted classics:

Nas' Illmatic.

Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back.

Eric B and Rakim's Paid in Full.

Talib Kweli's Quality.

Common's Electric Circus .

A Tribe Called Quest's People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.

Things I think are classic, that people laugh at me for:

Dizzee Rascal's Boy in Da Corner (Debate whether it's rap or not)

Eminem's Slimshady LP.

Beastie Boys' License to Ill.
