Stand-Up Comedians

Okay, after reading the top stand up jokes in ZOO this week, I thought, why not make a thread asking people who their own personal favourite stand up comedians are, so this is a thread, to do that, so do something.

My personal favourite 'veteran' as it were, is Bill Hicks, from his rant on British Pornography to talking about weed being the reason so many old songs were good, he was just a hilarious guy who doesn't seem to get enough adoration for the stuff he said.

My favourite 'newbie' to the scene is Ross Noble (I know he isn't "new" per-say, but you get my drift), he's so damn funny, he'll go off on one rant and somehow manage to bring it all back to his original point. His notes on The Wind in the Willows were fucking hilarious.

Obviously these are just two of mine, but there are so many, I thought I'd leave it up to you guys to remind me of some of the best stuff :P

<--- This is where I realised this is in the wrong forum :(

My favorites? I have three that I can listen to at anytime and think they're funny, and I agree with their materil. Those three would be;

David Cross and Lewis Black: These two I love for being completly honest and for Black, at most times cynical. I love both their stndup work, and Cross on Arrested Development, and Black on Jon Stewart.

Eddie Izzard: All his albums, but I can't stand looking at him doing his standup. That's a little too freaky for me.

At any given time, I could also listen to John Heffron.. even though he only has an HBO special, Chris Rock and Dane Cook.. but Cook only has one CD out.

Bill Hicks, Sam Kinison, Richard Prior, Eddie Murphy (watch Raw), Ross Noble, Chris Rock and Rich Hall are all geniuses in my book. Sam Kinison, Bill Hicks and Richard Prior, in particular, said the things most people wish they could say (touching on the 3rd world, drugs, sex, religion) and still managed to make an audience piss themselves with laughter.

Bill Hicks, without a doubt. I "own" Dangerous, Relentless & Arizona Bay, and those albums are just pure comedic gold in my opinion.

I also like David Cross. He's funny on that Rock Against Bush DVD.

Another guy is uh...Jimmy Carr, I think? He hosts this show on Comedy Central called Distraction I think, and from what I've seen of him on that show, his humor is dry wit. I love it. I want to find some of his stand up stuff, if there is any.

I also adore Jimmy, he does seem to repeat his jokes a lot though, I think he's better when he's interacting with people because he can shoot off jokes then. He's kind of a new mans Jack Dee, while at the same time being a very seperate style of comedian IMO.

Quite like Dane Cook (his Comedy Central DVD special is awesome - pick it up) and Jim Gaffigan. Gaffigan is awesome.

Eddie Izzard and Dane Cook are my favorites. I also love the stand-up by this guy i saw on Comedy Central, makes me laugh everytime, I don't know his name but he has a bit where talks about getting old and buying a really fast car and he's talking about how that'd be a great way to go.

"I heard your Grandma died, how'd it happen?"

"She flipped her Vet man."

Ugh. I can't stand Seinfeld. What everyone sees in him I'll never understand, I've never liked any of his work.

EDIT - Now that I've looked over the list again, I realized Chris Rock is on there. Seinfeld > Chris Rock, IMO, but I detest them both. Meh.
