I actually like the idea of freshly killed sometimes being able to run, and as they decompose, they slow. I actually find that more realistic. If a guy get's his throat slashed out, while his motor skills were perfectly healthy, then he should be able to run still, just with the whole dead factor.

Slow shuffling zombies are always the way to go.

Zombies are about enclosed places, about sheer weight of numbers and continued forward surging....not about running around outside...

28 Days Later kinda skirted around that because they weren't really zombies - instead they were infected with the "Rage Virus" and so were slightly different.

True zombies (in films of course!) are ominous by the fact they keep going unless you blow their heads off or shatter their spinal column and turn you merely by biting and infecting the person.

The better zombie films are in enclosed spaces or in an area where there is no escape from.

OK, after seeing the trailers, I have mixed feelings about this... For starters, I really dig them updating the original "Of The Dead" franchise to a modern-day visual image not too unlike the remake of Dawn. Also, slow-moving zombies really are the way to go.

However, what I don't like is the fact that they're apparently trying to make the zombies more of an intelligent opposition rather than a mindless horde of feeding machines. Zombies communicating with each other and Steyr AUGs? I smell pure crap right there. Bub in Day Of The Dead was bad enough, and it's sad to see that Romero apparently is going to push that whole line of thought even further. I kind of got irked in the Dawn remake by the zombie that almost throws the propane bomb back at the bus, but it's going to be nothing compared to coordinating, communicating undead hordes that Land of the Dead could bring. It's freaking going to be Jurassic Park III meets Dawn Of The Dead, not a proper zombie movie.

I also wasn't a fan of the remake of Dawn of the Dead, as I thought it lacked alot of the gratuitous violence in the original. I just didn't think the remake did the original any justice, I thought it was a huge letdown. The original Dawn of the Dead was simply sickening on many parts with guts being ripped out, heads exploding, limbs being ripped off, and other fun things. Land of the Dead seems promising though, and I like the fact that it's a totally new/different movie in the series.

Wait, so is this, or is this not, a sequal/prequal or any other way related to Dawn of the Dead? I remember at the end of Dawn of the Dead the zombies are found on the island that they had been sailing to. Any help is appreciated.

I went into the theater thinking that it would be a big letdown. I'm glad to say that I was wrong. This movie is so full of gore. It was basically a blood porn. Fucking kicked all ass.

The storyline itself was pretty good. I was kind of annoyed by the fact that zombies were communicating and using weapons and stuff, but its not like they pick it up and know it right away. I won't go into much detail because I don't want to spoil it(and also don't know how to do the spoiler tags), but I thought it was a fresh new thing the zombies can do. And Dennis Hopper completely owns in this movie as a corporate asshole. Good acting by him, but thats expected. The acting was mediocre, but what can you expect from a zombie movie? Tom Savini's cameo was great, and I did not even recognize Simon Pegg(Shaun from Shaun of the Dead). I remember the scene he was in though after I saw a pic later online.

Don't worry about that... There IS plans for an actual sequel to DAWN OF THE DEAD 2004...

It's not Day of the Dead, but all new materials though.

Although, I've heard of Day being remade. Eh.

Zombies Flicks are in. :-P
