Yeah, so, anime.

I'm trying to get into anime. Like, a lot. But I don't know how to go about doing it. I've seen some anime (Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist) and read some manga (Wolf's Rain, Bleach), but I don't really know how to go about finding different ones, or ones that are good.

So, basically what I'm asking, is for someone to recommend me some anime or manga, or tell me of a place to download anime. I just need to know what's good, so that I won't lose interest by watching stuff that's bad. (If that makes any sense at all.)

I've already watched the first two volumes of Heat Guy J, and I recommend it.

I'll also be the first here to mention Neon Genesis Evangelion, since it's considered to be one of the best. I concur with that statement

You can't go wrong with Gundam Wing as well.

Edit: These are all shows.

I'll just give you a nice, sort of long list.

- Cowboy Bebop

- Samurai Champloo

- Excel Saga

- Anything by Shinichiro Watanabe, really.

- Azumanga Daioh

- Trigun

- Martian Successor Nadesico

- Rurouni Kenshin

- Irresponsible Captain Tylor

- Anything by Hayao Miyazaki

- Ranma 1/2, especially the first three seasons

- Great Teacher Onizuka

- Slayers

- Akazukin Chacha (but I heavily doubt you'll be able to pick that one up)

- Here is Greenwood

- Kare Kano (if you're into romantic comedy stuff)

Everything Naruto just plains sucks these days. For anime movies you can't go wrong with Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki-directed or otherwise. Hellsing is really fun as well. As for manga, One Piece, Shaman King, Hayate the Combat Butler and Hellsing are pretty enjoyable.

HMV tend to have loads in an "Animated" section next to Foreign Cinema and Martial Arts.

Mostly they're like £20 or so per DVD but every now and again there'll be a couple on offer for a fiver, a tenner or 2 for £15 or something....

The main HMV in town?

Yeah that one. Not the silly little pointless one near the station though, but the one next to Virgin...
